Ono (Yoko) Grapefruit introduction by John Lennon first English edition signed by Yoko Ono and John Lennon on front free endpaper illustrations patterned endpapers original boards dust-jacket minor rubbing and light scratches otherwise very good 16mo Peter Owen 1970. ***The scarce first UK hardback edition preceded by a limited edition in Japanese. This copy was signed by Lennon & Ono for the publisher Peter Owen. Owen reflects on their initial meetings with seemingly mixed feelings: “I liked John Lennon he was helpful and did a few drawings for us but she sat there with a big hat on eating caviar out of a jar with a kitchen spoon and she didn`t offer us any and was very unpleasant. She used to phone me at midnight to discuss her book. My daughter Antonia suggested some years ago what about reprinting Grapefruit? And I said I`m not reprinting that rubbish.”.
[Plummer (T.Arthur)] The Scarlet Saint first edition signed by the author as Michael Sarne and T.Arthur Plummer 10 typed and autograph letters from various parties to the author loosely inserted original cloth dust-jacket by Youngman Carter spine sunned edge wear Stanley Paul [1932]; with the original Youngman Carter dust-jacket design for upper panel watercolour ink & body white 260 x 175 mm. inscribed underneath from the artist to the author spotting framed & glazed [c.1932]; and 2 Andrew Frampton titles by Plummer in dust-jackets 8vo(4) ***Thomas Arthur Plummer (1883-1961) best known for his crime fiction and the creation of the popular character Andrew Frampton a DI for Scotland Yard. The Scarlet Saint was the author`s attempt to move away from this genre and tackle more serious issues in this case largely of a religious nature. The letters are mostly relating to The Scarlet Saint sometimes under a working title of God`s Parasite and include letters of polite rejection from several well-known publishing houses as well as a more personal note to Plummer from the author Warwick Depping.
Pratchett (Terry) and Neil Gaiman. Good Omens first edition signed and inscribed by both authors on title original boards dust-jacket a near fine copy 8vo 1990. ***An excellent inscribed copy of the authors` parody of The Omen; Gaiman has incorporated the tomb device from the dust-jacket`s lower panel as a doodle and writes “For Adam [the name of the young central `antagonist` ] ... gosh. How you`ve grown... Neil Gaiman”; Pratchett`s own contribution more whimsically deadpan “Shame about the end of the world and everything... T Pratchett”.
Rowling. Harry Potter Philosopher`s Stone first edition very minor darkening toward page edges otherwise internally fine original pictorial boards minor bump to top edge near upper fore-corners minor rubbing to extreme corner-tips overall an excellent copy 8vo 1997. ***The true first edition one of a very small hardback print run largely intended to meet the needs of public libraries. The number of copies produced in this format are speculated to be between 300 & 500 the vast majority now bearing the ignominy of the usual library markings pockets and sometimes even laminate. Copies therefore in such condition as this are extremely scarce indeed.

[Keynes p.102] small 8vo at the Chiswick Press 1939. ***An excellent copy of this key work in Sassoon`s canon both in terms of condition and association. Several of the thirty-three poems present ominously anticipate the encroaching Second World War. The lyre presumably a reference to the lyre of Orpheus could possibly be a nod to Sassoon`s pseudonym `Pinchbeck Lyre` which he adopted to parody Humbert Wolfe in 1931.
