Full Uniform of the 2/10th Battalion Territorial The King's Liverpool Regiment, belonging to Pte. 356310 L D C Foley, & WWI War Medals. Comprises Tunic with horn buttons, Liverpool Scottish shoulder titles, 55th Division Red Rose badge, Kilt made from Forbes tartan, ORs sporran with King's badge on cantle, red and black diced half hose, white gaiters, Tam O'Shanter hat with KLR badege and further TOS without badge. Together with WWI medals awarded to Pte Foley, including 1914-1919 Victory Medal with box, British War Medal, and Liverpool Scottish baddged canvas cover with St Christopher medal. Pte Foley was a volunteer from 1915 for duration, and was overseas in France & Flanders in 1917, and demobilised in 1919. Uniform has some small holes but general good order considering the age.

Catalogue notesIn 1934 Harrod's held a selling exhibition, Modern Art for the Table, part of a government campaign to link artists to industrial design of glass and ceramics. Clarice Cliff was appointed as an Artistic director, with twenty eight recognised contemporary artists invited to design for Wilkinson's, E Brain & Co (Foley) and Stuart glass. The list of artists included Dame Laura Knight, Paul Nash, Ben Nicholson, John Armstrong and Duncan Grant.
Civil War, Sir Charles Erskine of Alva medal 1647, cast bronze d.35.5mm, faded gilding. Sir Charles Erskine of Alva was a Scottish noble who took part in the abortive Treaty of Uxbridge peace negotiations of 1645. These medals are recorded in Medallic Illustrations in gold and silver. This apparently the only known specimen in bronze, cast, with some details engraved contemporary or perhaps later. Fine with two piercings. Ex. Literature: See Scantlebury, Hugh: 'John Vine of Colchester, An account of the Life and Times of an Essex Livestock Painter' 2008. Vine started life as a fair ground curiosity. He worked under great physical difficulty but was still quite prolific in his output. Largely self-taught as an animal painter, he exhibited at the Society of British Artists in Grosvenor Square. His patrons included The Royal Agricultural Society, Lord Weston and Lady Foley and Lord Rendlesham, even winning approval from the Duke of Marlborough who had occasion to praise "an excellent picture by one labouring under such disadvantages". He settled in Colchester about 1830.
