Henry Foley, 1848-1874, landscape with Stratford Church, oil on canvas, 25 x 19cm, inscribed versoOverall condition is complete but dirty. The top edge has a slight line and yellow discolouration, likely caused by the mount rubbing. Clearly signed. Very dirty from the back. Frame is dull and marked, with losses in places mostly to the corners and edges, showing the gesso below. Corners joints are loose also.

The no-nonsense Foley wore his service uniform during the graduation ceremony at the end of the film.Originating from Christie's December 1990 sale of Paramount Pictures costume department, this lot consists of a drab olive wool-blend "Patriot" jacket from Weintraub Bros. Co., replete with military ribbons, badges, and patches; and a pair of matching pants. Detroit detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) flew to Los Angeles, CA, after his friend Mikey Tandino (James Russo) was murdered for stealing German bearer bonds from smuggler Victor Maitland (Steven Berkoff).This detailed paper bond numbered "01580" and dated "11 Juni 1963" is printed on heavyweight off-white stock with a decorative border, an orange eagle emblem, "10,000 Mark" and "Die Banfen Frankfurt" printed on the front, and German-language disclaimers along with other dates between July 1981 and July 1983 printed on the reverse. OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN, AN (1982) - Gunnery Sergeant Emil Foley's (Louis Gossett, Jr.) Campaign Hat - Gunnery Sergeant Emil Foley's (Louis Gossett, Jr.) Campaign hat from Taylor Hackford's An Officer and a Gentleman. The no-nonsense Foley wore his signature hat while training Zachary "Zack" Mayo (Richard Gere), Sid Worley (David Keith), and their fellow aspiring Navy pilots at the Aviation Officer Candidate School (AOCS).This brown felt Drill Sergeant Campaign hat (Size 7 1/8) originated from a previous Christie's East auction. It features metal rivets on its sides, a brown ribbon band wrapped with a cherry-brown leather strap, a matching leather chin strap with metal buckles, and black leather lining stitched to the interior. The lining is printed with the military motto "Hat, Service, Field" and control number "3889RS-1944" in gold-color text.
