Large pair of Victorian wrought iron gates, approximate dimension of each gate: width 147cm, height 214cm.** Due to their weight, an appropriate vehicle would be needed to collect these gates ** Qty: 2 Condition report:No known provenance prior to the present vendor. They have been consigned from a private property in Leicester (not installed there, just loose in the garden). All over surface corrosion but essentially sound other than the following: One gate is in a poorer shape than the other with some buckling to what would be the gate's central upright (thinner gauge than the upright supporting the hinge strap), and the adjacent bars are also buckled. The top tips adjacent to the scrolled finials are bent and distorted, with one being broken off completely to the poorer-state gate. One of the diagonal straps is broken through at the cross-join towards the bottom of the gate. Images 3-6 are focusing on the poorer gate. The gate in better all-round shape does seem to have been bent a little along the bottom rail, towards the upright with thicker gauge. Some of the bars have also been slightly distorted also to the centre. The join of the top strap to the thinner upright is broken. This gate has a strap buckle hinge element but the other doesn't so some form of hinge would be needed to be made. Images 7 and 8 show shape issues with the second gate. Lacking and floor anchors or latches o keep in position when closed, although there are holes to accommodate one.
