AUTOGRAPHS Blackpool bed and breakfast hotel reception book containing many signatures from the period 1956-81. Signatures are from a variety of guests from the sportingand entertainment world, even a politician eg Cyril Smith MP, circa 37 entertainers and 27 Footballers plus 6 Golfers. Examples are Danny Blanchflower, Stanley Matthews, Cliff Jones, Tom Finney, George Best, Bobby Charlton, George Formby, Eric Morecambe, Wilfred Hyde White, Dickie Henderson, Adam Faith, Les Dawson, Val Doonican, Nick Faldo and Bob Charles. Noteworthy signatures have orange highlight marker through them to indicate who they are.
* Davies (Ogwyn, 20th century). Liverpool Wall (Yosser Hughes Gi’us a job), 1983, mixed media on panel, signed and dated upper left, 25.5 x 36.5cm (10 x 14.5ins), framed, additionally inscribed to reverse. Welsh artist Ogwyn Davies, who was born in 1925 and lived in Tregaron, studied at Swansea School of Art, where his fellow students included Aneurin Jones, George Little, Peter Markey and Tom Nash. He is widely regarded as one of the most significant and distinguished artists in Wales. See Ogwyn Davies, A Retrospective, Aberystwyth, 1994. (1)
A George Jones earthenware vase of finely potted flattened oviform with ring handles decorated front and verso with white pate sur pate ‘classical’ scenes of a pair of soldiers and a horse beneath a band of stiff leaves on a black ground and gilt rim, 10 cm high, impressed crescent mark and gilt pattern no. 5635, circa. 1875.
