A wooden shield, 40.5cms x 31cms, displaying the following relics: copper crown emblem above a brass name plate engraved “ W.J Brymer”; the bowl end of a smoking pipe, WM band stamped CV; a pocket watch (no glass or hands remain, enamel face chipped); a pocket knife; a commercial nameplate of “Drew Clark & Co Leyton E10” all mounted above an aluminium plate engraved “Relics taken from R101 France”, the relics wired onto brass backing plates, (pipe bowl detached). Cox by Her Majesties Royal Letters Patent, fitted with patent return check bell, inventor, patentee & manufacturer, 174 Queen Victoria Street, London`, with glass backed single side rack to the left for stacking coins, slotted lever operated compartment for viewing coins to the right, fitted with a bell which rings when lever is operated, above a bowl for small change and a locked drawer for safe keeping of higher value coins, size 44cm by 40cm. **These tills were invented by publican John Cox to track payments made and prevent disputes arising over the value of coins tendered by customers
