JAMES DENISON-PENDER (born 1942); 'Wordsworth as a Boy', a stipple-engraved full lead crystal glass goblet, depicting the young Wordsworth and sheep in a Lakeland scene, engraved mark, height 22.5cm. (D) Stipple engraving on glass originated in Holland in the 18th century. It was revived in Britain in the 1930s by Laurence Whistler. It was Whistler's work that inspired Denison-Pender to take up the art form. Because the stippling process is done entirely by hand, without the use of any machinery or acid, each goblet can take a month or more to complete. JAMES POWELL WHITEFRIARS; a "Minerbi" goblet designed by Harry Powell with rounded funnel bowl, set with melted glass threads above knopped baluster stem and plain foot, height 17cm. The "Minerbi" service was commissioned by Count Lionel de Minerbi of Venice, who ordered a full service of around 400 items produced in 1906 when seeing the items at the 1902 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative Art in Turin.
Attributed to "GRAY-STAN"; a clear glass bowl with green tinted everted crimped rim and wrythen twisted clear band of decoration to the body, diameter 20cm, also an Edwardian clear and green tinted glass tazza of stepped shaped form raised on clear foot, diameter approx 18cm (2). CONDITION REPORT: Appears good with no obvious signs of faults, damage or restoration.

A late 19th century Venetian opaque tinted glass with wrythen moulded bowl above unusual hollow baluster stem with blue glass pierced C-scroll handles set with ribbed vertical bands above a wrythen moulded foot, height 11.2cm, a late 19th century Venetian opaque tinted and gold flecked glass with bell shaped bowl set with band of raised decoration above a similarly decorated hollow baluster stem and plain foot, height 10.5cm and a third late 19th century Venetian opaque tinted glass with ogee bowl, on double section wrythen twist stem to domed foot with band of overlaid raised decoration, height 11.8cm (3). A late 19th century Venetian glass with bell shaped wrythen moulded bowl decorated with opaque and gilt bands, above a dimpled wrythen moulded clear glass stem and part moulded foot, height 11.9cm, a similarly decorated late 19th century Venetian glass with plain stem and foot, height 11.2cm and a third late 19th century Venetian glass with blue opaque and gold wrythen moulded bell shaped bowl above repaired wrythen twist clear glass stem and slight domed foot, height 12cm (3). CONDITION REPORT: The base of the first glass is damaged (part of it has been broken off but is present). The blue glass has a clear metal band over a repair, which is certainly an old repair, otherwise appears good with no further obvious signs of faults, damage or restoration.
