A PORTRAIT MINIATURE OF A YOUNG LADY (2)Late 18th / Early 19th centuryIn a gold frame with a split pearl border, the reverse with a glazed compartment with a locket of hair, unsigned, 6cm x 5cm, together with a portrait miniature of a gentleman, unsigned, in a black papier-mache frame, the painting approx 5cm x 4cm (2)Condition report:The first would benefit from a careful thorough clean overall, with a few minor small marks to the glass, dirt and dust to the pearl settings, commensurate with age and use. The white specks appear to be flaked painted which seem to be fixed in position under the glass. However, the portrait has not been examined out of the frame. There is likely to be some fading commensurate with age. The surface of the portrait appears flat. The reverse with pin fixed into the hook clip, which appears to be bent fully round now fixed tight. Mild marks and tarnishing to the back, especially around the hinge. The hair is in place.The second: the portrait appears to be painted on ivory, with dirt and dust overall, together with likely fading, commensurate with age and use. The portrait is held in place with copper teeth. Numerous chips, wear and some light warping mostly to the corners of the frame. Tarnishing to the gilt-metal inner frame and foliate hanging mount, which is also loose. A light craquelure to the carton-pierre surface, commensurate with age.
A GEORGE III MAHOGANY LONGCASE CLOCKThe 12 inch arched brass dial with subsidiary dial and date aperture, signed 'John Chater Olney No 64', with two weights, a pendulum, winder and a case key, movement and case associated, overall height 214cm highCondition report: The case is basically original and has been repolished at some point. However, please not the following obvious issues: The hood with some cracking and replacement to the blind fret spandrels of the hood, some side splitting and movement to the sides Traces of old worm holes to the hood and trunk. Worm damage to the lower moulding of the hood which is now split apart on the left side and requires restoration. Later screws to secure glass door hinges. Brass mounts to the bases of the fluted side columns are loose.Some replacement and repair to detail moulding on the trunk, below hood. Slight warp to the door towards the bottom. An areas of filler Just below the key escutcheon, possibly from a previous catch for the door. Gauge to left hand side on canted flutes, approx 5 inches below lock. Both sides with split panels to the side of the plinth, left side with some repair and infill. Bracket feet are replaced. Marks, knocks, scratches and scuffs commensurate with age and use. The movement: The movement may not be original to case. The dial is dirty. Hands are not original. Movement appears complete, but is dirty and requires a full service. A 19TH CENTURY MAHOGANY CASED APOTHECARY CABINETWith extensive fitted interior, 27cm wide; 31cm highCondition report: Various light marks, scuffs and wear commensurate with age, however, mahogany is overall in relatively good ‘untouched’ condition. Tarnishing/oxidisation to metal work: escutcheon and carrying handles. The lid is very slightly lifting to one side. No key and lock plate loose, requiring fixing back into position. Veneer section to the front edge loose and present with lot. The top hinged lid opens to reveal: Four glass bottles with gilt brass lids, one of which has completely tarnished and lost it’s gilding and wax sealed cork lining and now loose on the glass bottle. Lift out tray with slide lidded compartment to the sideGlazed ceramic tileSoftwood cased glass syringe (internal edge of case worn with loss)Metal cased candle holder - with candle, stamped to underside ‘PATENT APPLIED FOR’ A ceramic oval shaped bowl on raised foot.Front door opening and closing only when lid open to reveal: Seven compartments, six bottles with glass stoppers, various chips and wear. Labelled drawers (one missing ring pull handle top right), including the top tier containing sliding lid compartments, the second row enclosing a glass mixing bowl but no pestle; four glass vials with contents, three of which with marble paper covered stoppers and three various wood containers, the bottom row enclosing eight apertures with six glass mixing bowls.The reverse door opening and closing when lid is open to reveal: Eight compartments with only seven glass bottles with stoppers present. IN THE MANNER OF MERROW ASSOCIATES; A 20TH CENTURY CONSOLE TABLEWith glass top on a polished steel base, 149cm wide; 74cm highCondition report: Overall in good condition. The glass top needs to be cleaned. Light surface wear, including a small scratch to the surface, approx 3.5 cm long, but otherwise good. Edges and corners in good condition - serial number 12150 EURO-TUFF. Overall - 148.5 wide 38.5 cm deep. Frame would benefit from a clean and polish. Surfaces slightly tarnished and dulled. A small gap visible to the mitre join between the brass upright and horizontal, needs tightening. No apparent signs of any rust to the frame.
A REGENCY INLAID MAHOGANY CHEVAL MIRRORWith twin candle sconce and downswept supports, 78cm wide; 173cm highCondition report: Overall, in good decorative order. The mirror glass with light scuffs and scratches overall and some speckles of oxidisation, although quite mild considering age. Metal mounts with some loose casting, dirt and dust. One drip pan is lopsided and the turning handle mounts a sit slightly off the rounded edge of the upright. A GOLD CASED, KEYLESS WIND, OPENFACED GENTLEMAN'S POCKET WATCHWith an unsigned gilt jewelled lever movement, the inner and outer case detailed 18 K within, the inner case detailed Pateck Geneve, the enamelled dial with black Roman hour numerals, case diameter 51.2mm, gross weight 88.8 gms, with a boxCondition Report: Watch not currently working. The movement is overwound. There are one or two small shallow dents to the case rims. There is a shallow dent to the inner case and one or two shallow dents to the outer case also. The watch glass is detached but present. The dial is in good condition. The top suspension bow is base metal.
A 15CT GOLD CASED POCKET BAROMETER / COMPASS / THERMOMETERThe curved rectangular hinged case opening to reveal the barometer detailed Rain Change Fair, central thermometer and circular compass, the case exterior plain, fitted with an oval suspension loop, retailed by Tiffany & Co London, London 1912, length 6.6cm, gross weight 70 gmsCompass needle appears to function, compass dial good condition. Mercury thermometer: glass complete and appears to function. Barometer: upon placing in plastic bag full of air and applying pressure the needle will move. We would not guarantee the accuracy of the instrument . The barometer is not perfectly centred in its case. We note that the milled glazed front casing is raised up at the edge and appears not to be properly soldered into position. It will move up and down upon applying gentle pressure with the thumb. On the dial of the barometer in certain lights, there is a slight loss of matt finish just above the 'IR' of the word 'FAIR'. Exterior of case: apart from slight surface scuffs no significant dents. Hinge to case good condition. Length of case 6.7cm.
