(ARR) Grayson Perry (British, b. 1960)Jazz - Why? Small framed hand drawn artwork on a cassette sleeveFramed & glazed Sleeve measures approx. 12.5cm x 10cm.Provenance (from the vendor): A friend of mine, who was working for a removals company at the time, helped the famous British artist Grayson Perry move home. My friend had on his person a mixtape cassette tape that he'd made for me and was intending to post that afternoon. With the cassette sleeve being the only paper item he could find on his person in that moment, he asked Grayson Perry if he'd be up for signing the cassette, which he kindly did, and also added a doodle of his famous "Alan Measles" Teddy-bear character and a funny speech bubble outlining Alans dislike for Jazz music.

Katherine Perrins Little Weed, 2025 Watercolour on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) About Katherine Perrins' paintings explore the domestic spaces we inhabit and the everyday rituals that occur within them. Light captured or reflected within these interiors becomes a tool to record the passing of time and accumulation of memories stored inside the home. Produced in series, her still life paintings provide an investigation of place and time. Perrins' current works explore the experience of maternity leave after the birth of her children. Attention is focused on the minutiae of daily routines and her paintings explore the experience of home as womb-like, a protective nest or chrysalis. Hers is a deeply intimate relationship with the domestic environment; paint is a tool to examine the overlooked. Here are areas where things have come undone or been abandoned; half-drunk coffee cups, dust under the table, scattered children's toys. The works explore stillness and a noticing of the everyday; they express a longing for moments that have passed. They are studies for a larger body of new work, but here I was interested in contrasting textures; the softness of the sand and shadows and waxy leaves in 'Little Weed' and the cool reflective metal surface of the swing's chain against the sandy floor in 'Swing Time'. ALAN MEASLES EVENING BAG, 2010 Embroidered cotton with embellishments, 124/300, numbered in black ink to label, with original Selfridges & Co. label, manufactured by Kit Grover 33cm x 24cm (13in x 9.5in) Private Collection, London. “I’ve never seen myself as a potter or as part of the crafts movement. I am a conceptual artist masquerading as a craftsman” Grayson Perry Controversial, creative and incredibly humorous, Sir Grayson Perry CBE RA Hon FRIBA (1960 -) has dominated media headlines for over 20 years since winning the Turner Prize in 2003. Delighting in the combination of opposites, Perry’s work creates an intriguing fusion between form and content by transforming classical objects with unexpected or explicit imagery. In this way Perry captivates his audience, simultaneously stimulating feelings of attraction and surprise. “In life, as in art, I have been dusted with the perversion brush” Grayson Perry Alan Measles: teddy bear, alter ego and now cult object has become one of Perry’s most popular and enduring motifs. Featuring in works as diverse as Vote Alan Measles for God, Outsider Alan, and The Near Death and Enlightenment of Alan Measles, Alan’s persona is under constant re-invention. Alan is the sole focus of the handbag depicted on one side as happy and joyous in a pretty dress and bow reminiscent of Perry’s alter ego Claire. On the other side Alan is stripped back, naked and seemingly angry. Whilst Perry may be depicting his own personalities through the guise of his childhood toy, he is also offering the wearer the opportunity to do the same by displaying the side of the handbag which best represents them in that moment. It is perhaps people’s ability to relate and interact with Perry’s work in this way which makes it so enduringly popular.
