A Grimwades Beatrix Potter tea set decorated with various figures and figure scenes including Tom Kitten, Jemima Puddleduck, Peter Rabbit etc including three large cups, six small cups, two milk jugs, large tea pot, small tea pot, slop bowl, nine side plates, five smaller plates, eight large saucers and six small saucers CONDITION REPORTS The milk bowl has hairline crack running through it. Both milk jugs are heavily stained, one with blue dye, the other typical brown. The larger tea pot has heavily stained crazing to the interior. The smaller tea pot has a hairline crack to the spout. All three of the larger mugs have hairline cracks as do three of the smaller cups. Three of the smaller saucers have hairline cracks, the other three sound dull but no cracks visible. Small tea plates: One with visible hairline crack and chip. One has a large chip to the underside. Four sound very dull. Another one has a hairline fracture and one rings true. Small side plates/tea plates: three sound dull but no signs of cracking. The larger tea plates: Mittens, Tom Kitten and Moppet has large crack running through it and the "They lived in a wood ..." sounds dull. The other two ring true. There are two sandwich plates which are completely broken. All items have heavy crazing and scratching to the decoration, wear to the gilding plus minor knocks conducive with age and use.

A small group of First World War commemoratives, comprising three plates with Lloyd George's inscription 'Special Message from the Rt. Hon D. Lloyd George Prime Minister - I have no hesitation in saying that economy in the consumption & use of food in this country is a matter of the greatest possible importance to the Empire at the present time', comprising a Grimwades 'Wartime Bread and Butter Plate printed marks to the reverse including 'Made by the Girls of Staffordshire during the Winter of 1917/18' mark, 20.2cm diameter; a 'War Time Butter Dish for a Family of Ten', 9.5cm diameter; and a further Alfred Meakin side plate, 15cm diameter; together with a small group of W.H Goss, comprising plate with humourous 'To Cook a German' inscription with flags of the Allies to the rim, 15cm diameter; a 'Flags of the Allies' coffee cup, coffee can and saucer with the Belgian Coat of Arms, a Peace 1919 mug listing the British Dominions, 8cm high (cracked); two Flags of the Allies plates, 20cm diameter and a mug, 9cm high (11)Condition:Good condition, some slight glaze crazing.
A collection of First World War Grimwades 'Bruce Bairnsfather' plates, comprising two with 'Here with a loaf of bread beneath the row, A muttered curse, But ne'er a whine, And though beside me, Singing in the Wilderness, The wilderness is paradise enow' 18.5cm and 25cm diameter; two 'I Likes Me a Drop O' Rum', 16.5cm diameter and 25cm diameter; 'When the 'ell is it goin' to be strawberry?', 19.5cm diameter; 'Well, if you know of a better 'ole, go to it', 25cm diameter and others, together with two bowls, a further plate and a mug, two plates with printed factory mark 'Made by the Girls of Staffordshire during the Winter of 1917 when the boys were in the Trenches Fighting for Liberty and Civilisation' markings, some others with post-war Armistice factory marks (13)

TWO T.G.GREEN 'MING' PATTERN JUGS AND A GRIMWADES SEVEN PIECES DESSERT SET, comprising two 'Ming' pattern jugs, height 12cm and 10.5cm (the larger jug has a hairline spider crack in the base, nibbles and restoration work to the spout and rim, smaller jug has a few nibbles around the rim), the Grimwades Byzanta Ware Watteau dessert set 5599 is decorated with a regal country garden silhouette scene on a yellow lustre ground, with amethyst coloured lustre exterior (9) (Condition Report: dessert set has crazing, nibbles to edges, wear to gilt and restoration work on some pieces)
A Royal Winton (Grimwades) Deco period oval twin handled dish in mottled red and floral design, a similar Royal Winton (Grimwades) Deco designed bowl with similar design of flowers and red background. Together with a 19th century Staffordshire fogure of a couple, with bird in hand of lady and banjo in mans. Further Details: Some paint flaking/loss to Staffordshire figure, small chip to edge of Winton bowl, some crazing, scratching and loss to gilding to parts of both Winton pieces.
