An archive relating to the life history of the Welsh boy soprano, Tom Howell (born 1911), including a poster for a concert he featured in at the Town Hall, Maesteg, a letter from the BBC dated 1925 offering an engagement to broadcast, press cuttings relating to his singing awards, ID tags and Service Book from his WWII military service as 1127491 Cpl. RAF in the Japanese campaign, also a pocket watch inset with his photo portrait as a youth.
London.- Howell (James) Londinopolis; an historicall discourse or perlustration of the city of London, first edition, engraved portrait frontispiece, folding plan of London after Wenceslaus Hollar, title in red & black, corner torn and 18th century name to front free endpaper, ?lacking initial blanks, some browning and spotting, a few stains, modern calf, spine sunned, bookplate to pastedown, endpapers renewed, [Wing H3091; Pforzheimer 515], small folio, printed by J. Streater, for Henry Twiford, George Sawbridge, Thomas Dring, and John Place, 1657.⁂ Largely taken from Stow's Survey. The view by Hollar shows The Globe theatre next to the Bear Garden.
General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Canal Zone (2Lt D V M Howell Para) nearly extremely fine £400-£500 --- David Vaughan May Howell was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Queen’s Regiment on 6 September 1952, and transferred to the Parachute Regiment on 29 January 1954. He was promoted Lieutenant on 13 May 1954, and transferred to the Territorial Army Reserve of Officers on 7 November 1957.
