IHC (retrograde) in Gothic within anti-clockwise ray border / Cross with dot in each angle; al within anti-clockwise ray border. Mitchiner & Skinner type M, 50 var. (IHC not retrograde; clockwise ray border). 0.69gr, 12mm. Very Fine.Found from Billingsgate spoil from the Thames foreshore, London, UK, in the 1980s.Property of an Essex collector.The 'cross and pellets' tokens differ from the other series of fifteenth-century tokens found in London by virtue of their close links with a series of French tokens. They have been found with not quite equal frequency in London and in Paris. The uniformity of design suggests centralised production control (such as by a guild) but the range of symbols - religious, merchant, brothels - suggests a wide range of users.

A Great Gold Rarity Edward III (1327-1377), Third Coinage, Third Period, Noble [of 128.6 grains], London, ed/war : d : gra : rex : angl : z : franc : dns : hyb :, king in ship with sword and shield, rev. + : ihc : transiens : per : medivm : illorv : ibat : , royal cross in tressure, e at centre, 8.27g/11h (SCBI Schneider 3; Potter Ia1; Lockett –; N 1110; S 1481). A field-find with light scuffing and traces of residual lustre, otherwise full, round and good very fine, being struck from early dies of excellent style; extremely rare thus £8,000-£12,000 --- Provenance: Found near Fulford (Staffordshire) in 2015
A 19th century Altar cloth, the centre decorated with central motif bearing the letters IHC surrounded by stylised lilies and roses on a deep purple velvet backcloth. Bordered by entwined stylised foliage trails and trimmed with block cut silk fringing in four colours. Backed or mounted on a deep indigo linen cloth. 72 x 148cm the embroidered section.

Mit schmaler Plica und Resten von zwei angehängten Wachssiegeln. Volckensdorf, 1284. Von dem Mediävisten Gerhard Eis (1908-1982) in einem wissenschaftlichen Aufsatz veröffentlichte Urkunde in hochmittelalterlichen Deutsch aus dem Jahre 1284: "Wand menshlich natur prachich ist zu mishelung, So ist des durft, daz di levt ir geseft bestetigen mit urchund der hantvest. Dar vmme offen ihc chunrat von volchensdorf allen den di da disen prif an sehent, daz ich minem vetern Heinrich von volchensdorf". Eis schreibt: "Unter einer Anzahl von deutschen Originalurkunden des Mittelalters, die ich voriges Jahr erworben habe,' befindet sich eine, die vor 1300 datiert ist, sodaß ihre Veroffentlichung im vollen Wortlaut angebracht erscheint. Sie ist im 'Corpus der deutschen Originalurkunden bis 1300' nicht enthalten, und es scheint, daß sich auch keine Kopie davon erhalten hat.Wohl aber kommen mehrere darin genannte Personen in schon bekannten Urkunden des 13. Jahrhunderts vor, sodaß sie in ihren geschichtlichen Zusammenhang genau eingeordnet werden kann. Das Blatt, das nun die Signatur Nr. 193 meiner Sammlung hat, besteht aus Pergament ... Der untere Rand ist, wie üblich, eingeschlagen (0,8 cm). Diezwei Siegel sind etwas verbröckelt, von jedem ist noch ca die Halfte vorhanden. Die Schrift ist deutlich leserlich, ziemlich klein, nicht besonders schön. Es kommen beide r vor, bei dem mit lotrechtem Schaft ist dieser des ofteren bis unter die Zeile verlängert, wie es in der alteren Schrift Gebrauch war. Bei manchen Wortanfängen ist nicht sicher zu entscheidenob Majuskel oder Minuskel gemeint ist; der erste Buchstabe kann sehr klein sein, aber die Gestalt der unzial-ähnlichen Majuskel haben oder durch rote Strichelung ausgezeichnet sein (z.B. bei chappelle), andrerseits kann der Anlaut die Form der Minuskel, aber die Größe einer Majuskel haben, z.b. aigensheft ..."
