A LARGE JAPANESE EDO PERIOD (1603-1868) IMARI CHARGER. Painted with flowers to the centre within panelled borders of cloud-shaped cartouches alternating with groups of cranes or similar birds, enriched in gilding, impressed seal mark to reverse. 40.5cm diam. ProvenanceAcquired from Takashimaya Co., Ltd, Tokyo on 8 February 1967. With original receipt.Overall in good order. There is a chip to the foot rim which appears to be beneath the glaze, with some slight wear to the gilding, minute wear to enamels.
