A rare 19th century German wooden zoo cage with flocked covered animals could possibly originated from the Erzgebirge area, a low mountain range in eastern Germany, the three tiered wooden box with printed detail to the front, each tier having four animals housed behind wire caging, Hyena, Wolf; Panther, Monkey, Tiger, Fox, Lion, Jaguar, Elephant, Rhinoceros, Polar Bear and Bear, access via two, hinged panels, 17¼ x 11¼in. (43.8 x 28.7cm.).
