Schmoll (°1849, Chantilly, Oise, France) was a famous bronze maker active in Paris in the last quarter of the 19th C. As the name suggests, he was of Jewish origin. He married Blanche Bloch on July 6, 1881. The work inscribed with the number '134750', with the 'Japy Freres and Cie - Med. d'Honneur' mark and further marked 'C. Ch.'. The absence of a condition report does not imply that a lot is in perfect condition. Body is surmounted with three finials above four brass-capped marble columns that flank a central gilt metal cherub and 'Sun King' pendulum, standing on brass feet. Jh., 29x26,5x10,5cm, gut erhalten *Schon 1773 eröffnete Frédéric Japy (1749-1812) in Montbéliard eine Werkstatt für die mechanisierte Herstellung von Uhrwerken. Ab 1850 wurden Uhrwerke mit JAPY FRERES & CIE signiert. Lange Zeit arbeiteten die Japy Brüder mit dem Automobilkonzern Peugeot zusammen. 2006 stellte die Firma ihre Produktion in Frankreich ein.
