Issue 28 (the 'School Kids' issue), including a very adult Rupert Bear, led to obscenity charges being brought in 1971 against the three editors, a trial described by John Mortimer, counsel for the defense, as 'standing at the crossroads of our liberty, at the boundaries of our freedom to think and say and draw and write what we please'. The three were found guilty, but their convictions were overturned following appeal. This set includes many of the loose inserts, including the Che Guevara, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, 'Outcry! Music Memorabilia - Poster for the Open Air Love & Peace Festival held on the Isle Of Fehmarn Germany on September 4th, 5th & 6th 1970. Poster measures approx. 81.5 x 29 (cm) / 32 x 11.5 (inches). The festival is most notable as featuring what was to be the last ever performance of Jimi Hendrix. The festival's full formidable line-up is shown in the green foliage of the poster design. Important condition note - The poster has been on display and wooden batons of approx. ½ inch are glued to the top and bottom of the paper, as well as a small cord attached by sellotape to the rear for hanging. The top baton obscures part of date of the festival and there are some losses around the baton and nicks. There is significant damage in the form of a 'breakthrough hole' in the centre of the poster in the line-up section, although there appear to be no major losses caused by the damage and therefore could be professionally restored.
Memorabilia - Tickets / Backstage passes / VIP invites - 26 tickets, Backstage Passes, invites. David Bowie (3 different), Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney (Many), George Harrison, Prince, Michael Jackson (2), George Michael, The Zombies, Brian Wilson (3), Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Keith Richards, Ronnie Lane
