A collection of nine Chinese 17th century and later porcelain items to include a kangxi period octagonal tapered/waisted blue and white vase with a rare decoration of peacock feathers (height 25 cm), a 19th century Wu Shang Pu ceremonial flared bowl (diameter 10.7 cm), two blue and white ginger jars 19th/early 20th century, a blue and white bowl with a six character mark to the base on a wooden stand, another blue and white flared bowl with mountainous river landscape decoration and a hare mark to the base, a 19th century blue and white teapot with river/mountain landscape, an 18th century tea bowl of sailing mask ships and a bag of 20th century porcelain balls (14). CONDITION:CONDITION; Kangxi peacock vase with large chip to neck and with two large chips to base (see images), Wu Shang Pu bowl with numerous chips to rim, one blue and white ginger jar lacking cover, the other with loss of glaze to cover, tea bowl with ship decoration with hairline running from base to rim, teapot with handle fractured and repaired, other items in good order.
KANGXI IMPERIAL EDICT: An excellent and rare KangXi scroll painting, being an Imperial Mandarin appointment edict. Issued on the 34th year of KangXi (1695), 15th of April. A 107 x 12.5 painting scroll (273 x 32 cm), rare version with hand-drawn dragons hunting the Flaming Pearl, on shantung silk in different colours, pasted on canvas, only used for appointment of highest Grades. Stamped with six Imperial seals, gouache over silk. Refers to General AiXin Jue Luo, Ba Er Tu (1673-1753), 4th son of Prince KangLiang, and his wife. The end piece is missing, overall age wear with tears, very small holes and with edges slightly affected. A very unusual and attractive scroll. G £2000-3000Provenance, Sophus Black collection. Sophus Black (1882-1960) was a Danish telegraph company executive and art collector. Black worked for the Great Northern Telegraph Company in China from 1902 to 1931. He learned the language, lived according to the country´s customs and acquired objects for his extensive collection. Part of his collection is at the National Museum of Denmark.
