WW2 Combat Fighting Knife.A unusual example, possibly theatre made. The spearpoint 17 cm blade is double edged. The hilt with metal crossguard and pommel with two piece wood grip secured by a single rivet. Contains in a Germanic style metal scabbard with ball point and original leather frog with securing strap. Overall length in scabbard 34 cm.
WW2 4 Commando Attributed 1st pattern Fairbairn-Sykes Commando fighting knife.A good and rare carried example, attributed to Driver Frank William Maund of the Royal Artillery who served with 4 Commando The hilt with nickel grip of chequered design. Double edged spear point blade, the ricasso with etched panel Wilkinson Sword Ltd. London, the reverse side the F-S Fighting Knife. Recurved cross guard. Housed in an early pattern brown leather scabbard with nickel rounded chape. Tailored with a leather thong retaining strap the four tangs have been removed. The overall condition is good hard working used knife. The chequered grip is worn through use, the scabbard with field adaptations by the owner and the upper section is fragile. Blade length 16.3cm The Attribution for this knife is given by the vendor, Bosleys have only been able confirm the supplied name served with 4 Commando. Attributed to Driver Frank William Maund of the Royal Artillery who is confirmed as serving with 4 Commando, he was Mentioned in Despatches on the 27th May 1941, this believed to correspond with the 4 Commando Raid on the Lofoten Islands Norway which took place on the 4th March 1941. Still serving with 4 Commando he was reported wounded on the 4th July 1944 whilst fighting in North West Europe.
Italian Fascist Youth Naval Leader’s dagger / knife.A very fine rare example with 16.5 cm plain plated double edged blade. Pommel and backstrap in gilded brass in the form of a lion’s head and mane instead of the usual eagle. Black simulated grip secured with straight and twist wire binding terminating in gilt brass acorn and oak band above the plain crossguard. Housed in its plain brown leather scabbard with press studded securing strap bearing old ink inscription ‘Italy 1944’. VGC
WW1 French All Steel Trench Fighting KnifeA rare example, the double edged blade engraved “Le Nettoyeur De Eranchees Campagne 1914.15.16” (The Clearer of Trenches Campaign 1914 15. 16.). One piece construction with straight crossguard, “U” shape grip and snake head design belt loop. The loop with further faint French engraving. Some minor pitting, overall GC. Blade length 8 inches A similar example is illustrated in “Fighting Knives by Frederick J Stephens Page 28.
German Third Reich Hitler Youth Pattern Knife by Hartkopf & Co. SolingenA good scarce 1933-38 example, the blade stamped on reverse with dual devil head ‘Hartkopf & Co. Solingen’ logo and etched ’RZM M7/40/37’; ‘Blut und Ehre !’ motto on front. Nickel plated turn up quillon and pommel with two piece black chequered composition slab grip inlaid with red and white enamel HJ swastika diamond. Housed in black painted scabbard with leather belt loop retaining press stud securing strap. VGC Introduced in 1933 with the motto “Blut und Ehre” on the blade. Motto discontinued in August 1938.

The ricasso with etched panel Wilkinson Sword Ltd. London, the reverse side the F-S Fighting Knife. The hilt with chequered grip, now though use only showing traces of the Parkerised finished. Housed in original brown leather scabbard with square chape. The upper section of the scabbard and four tangs absent. The overall condition is good, blade length 17.5 cm
