A set of 19th century steel and bronze fire irons (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The first quarter of the poker has numerous nibbles and a slight bend. The rear of the shovel and the grips of the tongs are struck with the letter T. All items have been recently polished and cleaned but no obvious faults. We would date these items as second half of 19th century.

A pair of Georgian silver salts, London, date letter rubbed. CONDITION REPORT: No gilding to either interior. Both have tarnish marks. Makers mark and date letter both rubbed. Each with small knocks/dents to the body though in our opinion this is not detrimental to the overall look. The loose glass liners are not original.

A silver playing card casket, inscribed "Bridge", London 1900. Width 11.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Weight 440 grams. Makers initials rubbed but lion and date letter in good order. The lid and left hand side have some small knocks. The the right hand side has a visible dent. The interior has a red watered silk lining. The hallmarks readable on front and rear of box. There is no wooden liner.

A Maltese silver letter knife, hallmarked to blade, stamped "917". Length 24.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Generally in good order throughout. Marks are clear. Fine traces of solder to the coin mount. Tiny nibbles to tip and side of blade but in our opinion not detrimental.

Lot 892

A Victorian oak country house post/letter box, octagonal. Height 40 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This lot is in generally very good order with no significant condition issues. The octagonal top has a number of old stress fractures and old repairs none of which in our opinion are detrimental. The faceted body is in generally good order. The door is not warped. The lock is original and operates. The key is later. All brasswork is original. The octagonal base has numerous surface scuffs and scratches and someone has initialled one faceted. The glass panel to the front has a fixed surround and we cannot see how this was accessed. In our opinion the right hand upright should detach but is now glued in place. The two bracing hoops to the rear of the door are probably later.
