Toyohara Chikanobu aka Yôshû Chikanobu (1838 - 1912) Title: The Inner Palace of Chiyoda (Chiyoda no Ōoku) Woodblock print on paper Publisher: Fukuda Hatsujirō Artist stamped Framed and glazed The Edo/Tokyo artist Toyohara Chikanobu ((豊原周延 1838–1912; frequently Yôshû Chikanobu 楊洲周延 and real name Hashimoto Naoyoshi 橋本直義) was the son of a low-level retainer named Hashimoto Naohiro (died 1879) of the Sakakibara family, whose ancestry included military governors or daimyô (大名) of the Takada domain (高田藩) in Echigo Province. As was common for members of his class, Chikanobu had training in Kanô-school painting, but he preferred ukiyo-e. He might have begun his print studies with a disciple of Keisai Eisen (渓斎英泉 1790-1848). Regardless, he joined the studio of Ichiyûsai Kuniyoshi (歌川國芳 1798-1861) around 1852. After Kuniyoshi's death, he studied with Utagawa Kunisada (歌川國貞 1786-1865), sometimes signing as Yôshû (楊洲). Finally, around 1862, Chikanobu had some instruction with Toyohara Kunichika (豊原國周 1835-1900), focusing on actor portraiture.

The quite extraordinary album of autographs collected by Mike Ormerod during his period as a DJ for the Mecca Group, this unbelievable album is full of autographs including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, The Small Faces, The Who, The Drifters, The Searchers, The Animals, The Supremes, The Moody Blues, Tom Jones, Cliff Richard and The Shadows, The Merseybeats, Manfred Mann, Lulu, Joe Cocker, The Kinks, Otis Redding, Cat Stevens, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Little Richard, The Troggs, Patty LaBelle & The Blue Belles, Wilson Pickett, The Walker Brothers, The Drifters, Petula Clark, Roy Orbison, Gene Pitney, The Everly Brothers, and Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders to name a few. The second half of the album is full of stars of stage and screen including cast members of Coronation Street, the cast of a stage production of Les Misérables, and other noted actors and actresses of the last fifty years. Provenance: The album is presented with a letter from Mike Ormerod confirming that every single autograph and set of autographs were obtained personally by him directly from the act or acts.Provenance: The Mike Ormerod Autograph Collection. This particular album featured on an episode of BBC One's The Antiques Roadshow discussing its rarity and importance.Further to a discussion with Mrs Ormerod (13.09.24) regarding the authenticity of the autographs she states very clearly that:Mike was like a dog with a bone when he was getting the autograph he would wait for hours to obtain autographs and would never give up. In the 60’s he saw the Beatles at 3 venues which included The King Georges Hall in Blackburn and ABC Cinema in Wigan as well as one other venue possibly Manchester, he would not have left without signatures. He had a ‘pal’ named Ron who was a promoter for many of the groups in the 60’s and it was Ron that got Mike into many venues. Mike would never buy autographs because the excitement for him was meeting the stars.Mike spent a lifetime collecting autographs and it would be fair to say he had a specialist level of knowledge.

Introduced at the 1988 Birmingham Motor Show, the Virage was Aston Martin’s replacement for the decades old V8 models. The Virage was launched as the top of the range car for Aston Martin. It is easy to see why this handbuilt, all aluminium V8 was king of the Astons. The 32 valve, 5.3 litre engine elevated the performance of the Virage to near sports car level. It was stated by Sports Car International on an early test that 'acceleration just never seems to run out' and they also praised 'the eager and quicker revving' nature of the engine, with its Callaway designed heads and Weber-Marelli fuel injection. They concluded that 'nothing sounds quite like an Aston V8'.This handsome Aston Martin Virage presents very well in British Racing Green over a cream leather interior and we are informed has benefitted from much renovation works over the years and has been recently recommissioned and serviced. In its previous tenure we are informed the car has been treated to an extensive engine rebuild and a front end rebuild including suspension components. Upgraded 18” alloy wheels have also been fitted and are shod with good tyres all round. We are informed in 2023 the car was fitted a new steering rack, new fuel injectors and primary fuel pump. The paintwork and interior are both in good order, the history file contains an Aston Martin enthusiast book and original sales literature coupled to an MoT test certificate valid until June 2025 and a V5C registration document. An ultra-luxury saloon produced for the Japanese market, the Century’s appearance is iconic in Asian countries, serving as Toyota's flagship car within Japan. The Century derived its name from the 100th birthday of Sakichi Toyoda the founder of Toyota Industries. It is often used by the Imperial House of Japan, the Prime Minister of Japan, senior Japanese government leaders and high-level executive businessmen. The Century is comparable in purpose to the Cadillac Series 70, Mercedes-Benz 600 Series, Maybach, BMW Goldfisch, Bentley, Chinese Red Flag, Rolls-Royce, and Russian ZIS/ZIL limousines. While the Century is a premium, full-size luxury saloon, it is not available at Japanese Lexus dealerships; it can only be purchased at specifically identified Toyota Store locations. The exterior styling of the Century has, with some modifications, remained unchanged since its introduction, primarily due to its perception as denoting conservative success. This stunning example of the rare and desirable Century was first imported in August 2020 by a Toyota enthusiast and club member. Maintained very well this example passed just this year to our vendor who had always wanted to own the Japanese luxury car and has spent the summer with friends travelling in luxury. The passenger compartment is richly appointed with many luxury touches including soft and supple heated power massage seats in the desirable wool finish. Further features include Mahogany wood steering wheel and cabinet, rear curtains all round, including electric rear blind, factory fitted shoe horns and Century branded Walkman. Mahogany wood centre console table and cup holders for passengers are coupled to front and rear air conditioning, screens, front and rear cruise control and even a soft-closing boot. A stunning example of a rare car even in Japan, this is a real collector’s car that is a sign of wealth and power for the price of a new Ford Fiesta! Offered with a new MoT test certificate and with the private V12 plate. Our vendor tells me he has been trying to find a button that doesn’t work but, true to the Japanese manufacturing of electronic components, everything is working at the time of consignment. Launched in 1998, the Arnage was manufactured in Crewe from 1998 to 2009 with its Rolls-Royce sibling, the Silver Seraph, introduced in the Spring of 1998. They were the first entirely new designs for the two marques since 1980 when the Silver Spirit and Mulsanne models were introduced. The new Arnage (Green Label) was to be powered by a BMW V8 engine with Cosworth-engineered, twin-turbo chargers and the Seraph was to employ a BMW V12 engine. The Arnage Red Label was launched in October 1999 with the engine reverting back to Bentley power using the traditional V8 engine and a displacement of 6750cc. As part of the modification process, both Red and Green Label cars benefitted from expanded leg room in the cabin, stiffer bodyshells and larger wheels and brakes. The Red Label models were replaced in 2002 by the Arnage R.Originally registered on 26th October 2010, this Bentley Arnage Red Label is finished in the delightful colour combination of Royal blue with cream leather interior with navy blue piping, the ultimate colour combination. To be expected of such a prestige marque, the level of equipment in this Arnage R includes electric memory seats, air conditioning, satellite navigation and cruise control. The service booklet shows 10 entries, the most recent in August of this year. The Arnage R with the Rolls-Royce 6750cc V8 engine is a superb vehicle to drive with seemingly endless power, with ample leather and walnut wood which contribute to making the passenger area a great place to be. Supplied with a V5C registration document together with a current MoT test certificate and full book pack. A great luxury tourer which oozes opulence but has terrific performance to match. Presented in stunning condition and we are informed drives fantastically. King Charles would be very comfortable in the rear of this vehicle as it still looks as elegant today as it did when first launched. The original V8 Vantage was a legendary old brute, and we’re all familiar with Bond driving one into a barn in The Living Daylights. The X-Pack took things to another level, although it did away with the deployable skis, missiles and jet engine as seen on the Bond car. Built between 1986 and 89, the X-Pack introduced a raft of updates over the base V8 Vantage including four dual-barrel Weber carburettors, Nimrod racing-type heads, larger valves and high compression pistons from Cosworth. This upped the 5.3-litre V8’s output to 432hp, not far off what supercars of the day were capable of. Telling the X-Pack apart from the regular Vantages is easy, too, looking as though it could deck you just for staring at it. Flared wheel arches give it a particularly muscular look, along with a, er, sizeable power bulge on the bonnet and a far deeper front bumper that acted as an air dam. Probably the most recognisable X-Pack feature is the blanked-out grille (not entirely sure how that helps with cooling) but some cars were specced with a more conventional mesh finish. Blanking plate or not, the X-Pack is an exceptionally rare variant of a car built in the hundreds. This fabulous and extremely rare example is allegedly one of only two right hand drive examples produced in Litchfield Black with black leather interior and walnut trim inlays. The specification includes air conditioning, electric windows, an analogue dashboard clock, heated rear screen and a lockable glove box. It is accompanied by a service booklet, handbook, a good history documenting maintenance and images of the car whilst in Jay Kay’s ownership. Production numbers vary here and there, but the listing claims that only 95 examples were produced, with this particular car being just one of two finished in Litchfield Black Metallic. The X-Packs were offered with an automatic gearbox, what with it being a massive grand tourer at heart, but this model comes with a manual gearbox. This is one of the greats of British motoring and certainly one of the greatest Aston Martins ever built – rare as hens teeth, brutish good looks and performance to match. This particular example has a great pedigree of ownership, having been in the ownership of one of most prolific private collectors in the UK and this would definitely grace any avid Aston Martin collectors garage or indeed be driven in anger by any who dare! The Lotus Carlton was a Vauxhall Carlton upgraded by Lotus Cars to be a 177mph sports saloon with acceleration equal to contemporary supercars. When released, it was the fastest four-door saloon car in the world. The external differences were minimal with the addition of a rear spoiler, air intakes on the bonnet, Lotus badges on the front wings and bootlid, a bodykit and considerably wider wheel arches. The car was only sold in one colour, a shade of British Racing Green called Imperial Green, a very dark green that in anything but direct light appears black.Lotus re-worked the 2969cc, 24V straight-six used in the Carlton GSi and bored it out to 3615cc. In addition, twin Garrett T25 turbochargers were attached resulting in 377bhp and torque at 419lb/ft. Power was transmitted through a six-speed ZF manual gearbox and power was driven to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential. The brakes were supplied by AP with 330mm ventilated discs all round and racing callipers.First registered on the 18th March 1992 this truly stunning example of the ultra-collectable 90’s super salon is presented in unmarked Imperial Green with contrasting luxury black full leather. Our vendor always dreamt that his dad would turn up from work in a Lotus Carlton when he was younger but having not experienced it as a child, when the opportunity to purchase his own in 2013 arose he jumped at the chance. The car he purchased in 2013 was a indeed a very good example, just four previous owners with documentation back to when new and in 1996 at 49,478 miles had benefitted from a brand new replacement engine under warranty, which is documented as the last Lotus crate engine in existence, therefore the last-ever factory Lotus re-worked 3615cc, 24V straight-six engine is fitted to this very car.Although happy with his pride and joy, in 2022 he decided to contact his local trusted Bodyshop to tidy up a few aspects, this brought what eventually became an unplanned, comprehensive and frankly breathtaking cosmetic restoration. The car was treated to any necessary work to sills and underside before all nuts and bots were replaced and treated before being fully photographed and then undersealed. Then the body, initially planned to rectify any areas in need, our vendor decided to strike a deal with The Bodycentre, Norwich and they could showcase this car for their work… and boy did that pay dividends, where some body shops would take the route of least resistance The Bodycentre took the philosophy that this was their opportunity to demonstrate the highest level of workmanship, indeed three days alone were taken on one wheel arch to ensure the work was exactly as it would have been from new before replicating it on others. It was handy that another original Lotus Carlton was already in the bodyshop, so no stranger to the cars they could make sure all necessary details were seen to. The fit and finish of the panels and even the body kit is exemplary, the finish being part of the reason our vendor is selling ‘it’s just too good that now I’m worried about driving it and getting even a stone chip’.The car is no trailer queen… yet, recent mechanical works include full brake rebuild front and rear with refurbished calipers, new discs, new pads and new hoses all round, fully powder coated and rebushed suspension, new OE wheel bearings all round, new ball joints and new steering control arms and the car performs impeccably and remains garaged between short trips. The interior wasn’t left out of the works, the headlining and A pillars all retrimmed to sustain the ‘fresh’ feel and as original by an original Lotus factory trimmer, which compliments the original stereo and leather trim which feels like it has done ½ the 76,941 miles on the odometer, even the optional over mats feel fresh and are a nod to the sheer opulence of this car when it was new. On that note, the car is completely standard and incredibly original with all work completed as such, the original unused spare is in the boot alongside the unused medical kit and of course the car is complemented by a comprehensive from day-one history file including full book pack and various dealer booklets and magazines of the day. A Collection of Assorted Victorian or Edward VII Silver Condiment-Items, Most by James Parkes, London, 1899 or 1903 in the George III style, comprising a pair of casters; a mustard-pot, with associated blue glass liner and four pepperettes, one by a differing maker, London, 1894, each engraved with the crests of Cunliffe and Lister, all but one pepperette further later engraved with a baron’s coronetthe casters approximately 13cm high, weight of silver 23oz 11dwt, 732gr (qty)The coronet appears to be slightly later engraved on most of the pieces in the present lot, suggesting the crests relate to one of the children of Samuel Cunliffe-Lister, 1st Baron Masham (1815-1906). On his death in 1906 he was succeeded first by his eldest son Samuel as 2nd Baron Masham. He was to die unmarried in 1917 so the title passed to his brother John who became 3rd Baron Masham. Each piece is marked as expected. There is some wear to the marks on some pieces, particularly the earlier pepperette on which the maker's mark is partly worn. There are some overall surface scratches and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the engraving. The feet on both casters and bruised and one is further repaired, this causes each to rock when placed on a level surface. The mustard-pot liner is associated and does not fit well.
A George IV Silver Goblet, by Solomon Royes, London, 1821 with plain tapering bowl and trumpet-shaped foot, with reeded rim 15.5cm high, 4oz 10dwt, 140grFully marked near rim. The marks with some minor wear but generally legible. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There are some bruises. There are some splits and repairs to the rim. Rocks when placed on a level surface. The surface is somewhat bright.

Original set of Master Schematics from Grumman Aerospace titled, “Expanded Capability Tactical Jamming Systemâ€, as developed by Grumman for NASA as part of the Space Shuttle Development Contracts in 1972. Grumman became a key player in the space technology as the company designed and built the Apollo Lunar Module that was used for the moon landing. In the Post-Apollo era, NASA issued a development contract to Grumman under its new Space Shuttle program to design and develop an Orbiter vehicle which could be reused on multiple missions. These extremely rare original schematics are part of the master plans drafted by Grumman under the NASA development contracts. The plans are drafted on translucent polyester/plastic drafting film which was a common medium used for creating master drafting documents during this period. The full description of this set of plans as found in the Grumman Aerospace seal in the lower right-hand corner of the page is “EA-6B Expanded Capability Tactical Jamming System Level II Integrated Functional Configuration Diagramâ€. This set is dated October 8, 1971, and contains two sets of diagrams.Â
