Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) . Original British press brochure cover, signed by Heather Ripley and Adrian Hall. . Unframed: 8 1/2 x 11 in. (21.6 x 28 cm). Framed: 14 3/8 x 16 7/8 in. (36.5 x 42.8 cm). . Paper backed and conservation framed with UV plexiglass. . This fantasy musical was directed by Ken Hughes and produced by Albert R. Broccoli. The screenplay was co-written by Roald Dahl and Hughes, and was very loosely based on Ian Fleming's 1964 novel Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang: The Magical Car. The actors include Dick Van Dyke, Sally Ann Howes, Lionel Jeffries, Gert Fröbe, Anna Quayle, Benny Hill, Barbara Windsor, James Robertson Justice, Robert Helpmann, Heather Ripley and Adrian Hall. The songs were written by the Sherman Brothers. Caractacus Potts (Dick Van Dyke), a widowed unsuccessful inventor and father of two young children, Jemima (Heather Ripley) and Jeremy (Adrian Hall), raises enough money from his inventions to buy a wrecked Grand Prix car due to be scrapped, that his children are obsessed with saving. He transforms it into a gleaming machine for them. Whilst on a day trip to the beach, Potts tells his children a story which starts their extraordinary fantasy adventure.. . Excellent condition, colours remaining very bright, minor restoration to a few small surface marks in the white background that do not affect the main image.. .
