A Faienceries du Longwy 'Nautile' spherical pottery vase designed by Nicolas de Waël; decorated with various tropical fish and gilding, the base marked 'N de Wael' and numbered R.169018 (approx. 19cm high)There is some glaze crazing to the main body of the vase and also to the copper-coloured foot room and darkening underneath where the foot would meet the table as expected (please see image). The neck appears to be in good condition although there is some slight gilt rubbing. It is rather dusty and dirty inside but no major chips, cracks or restoration noted.

A Longwy French Faience aesthetic plate, 19th century, decorated in a Japanese style with a roundel and fan shaped panel with blossoming flowers all against a busy blue floral ground, impressed marks and inscribed D80. 22 cm diameter, and a Longui Faience sandwich tray, of rectangular form, decorated with blossoming flowers against a blue ground, factory printed marks to the underside, pattern No. 5850. 38.5 cm long. CONDITION REPORT: The plate has a rim to foot rim hairline crack. The underside has large stained patches. The glaze is extremely crazed. The fan shaped panel to the front is crazed and stained. There are no chips to the rim. The tray has large crazing to the central cream ground glaze whilst the blue ground surrounding it has fine crazing. The rim and body all appear to be free from any obvious chips or cracks and there are no signs of any restoration on any of the Longwy piece.

Lot 280

A Longwy French Faience charger, early 20th century, decorated with blossoming branches against a blue ground, with shaped rim, pattern No. 5670, printed marks. 33.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The rim is free from any obvious chips or cracks. The sky blue glaze on the underside has uniform crazing. The cream ground on the underside also has very fine crazing. It does not ring out when lightly tapped but there are no obvious visible flaws.

A Longwy French Faience bowl, early 20th century, decorated with a bird alighting a blossoming branch within a further border with floral garlands and sprays against a blue ground with dark blue border, pattern No. 5800, printed factory marks to the underside Decore a la Main, Emaux de Longwy. 27.5 cm diameter. CONDITION REPORT: The glaze has crazed throughout. There is slight staining to the centre and above the bird. The underside shows heavy crazing and a small +/- 2 cm hairline crack issuing from the rim. The centre of the underside has patches of staining as does most of the underside of the body. The rim and foot rim both appear to be free from any obvious chips or restorations.

Lot 279

A Longwy French Faience box and cover, early 20th century, decorated with bird alighting a blossoming branch against a blue ground, the remainder decorated with bright floral sprays against a dark and light blue ground, printed marks to the underside, pattern No. 5779. 11 cm diameter. CONDITION REPORT: Both pieces appear to be free from any major chips or obvious cracks, however the interior glaze on both is in credibly crazed throughout. The lid does have a very fine 1 cm hairline crack. Generally all intact, however the crazing is extreme.
