Edgar Dean Mitchell September 17, 1930 - February 4, 2016 was a United States Navy officer and aviator, test pilot, aeronautical engineer, ufologist and NASA astronaut. As the Lunar Module Pilot of Apollo 14 in 1971 he spent nine hours working on the lunar surface in the Fra Mauro Highland s region and was the sixth person to walk on the Moon. Before becoming an astronaut, Mitchell earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from Carnegie Institute of Technology and entered the United States Navy in 1952. After being commissioned through the Officer Candidate School at Newport, Rhode Island, he served as a Naval Aviator. In 1961, he received his second bachelors degree, in aeronautical engineering, from the U. S. Naval Postgraduate School and three years later earned his doctorate in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology MIT. From 1965 to 1966, he attended the U. S. Air Force Aerospace Research Pilot School and graduated first in his class. During this period, he served as an instructor in advanced mathematics and navigation theory for astronaut candidates. The legacy of his post-NASA scientific and parapsychology work is carried on through the Institute of Noetic Sciences. All autographed items come with a Certificate of Authenticity. In 1968, he was a lunar module pilot on the Apollo 7 mission. He was NASA and s third civilian astronaut after Neil Armstrong and Elliot See, and has also been a fighter pilot, physicist, entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and author of The All-American Boys. Following the deaths of Donn F. Eisele in 1987 and Wally Schirra in 2007, Cunningham is the last surviving crew member of Apollo 7. All autographed items come with a Certificate of Authenticity. An extremely scarce Singer 222K Red S featherweight sewing machine with case, original instruction manual, Singer embroidery hoop in box for 222k machines, a selection of tools and components, including zipper foot etc and original sales tag, in superb condition. In total 108,900 Singer 222K Featherweights were made before production ceased in 1961, the majority had the standard Singer badge with a black patterned border on the pillar. In September 1959 this badge was replaced by the famous Singer 'Red S' and the last 27,000 machines produced sported this badge on the front of the pillar.
