A large early 20th Century French Colonies in Africa / French West Africa bush machete. Hooked wooden pommel and grip with five rivets securing it to the tang. The lower portion of the grip bound with coloured wires. Large machete blade stamped to the ricasso with Marseille makers and number 24. Measures approx 81cm.
A Gras rifle bayonet, model 1874, the 51cms single edged blade dated 1877, no scabbard; a German Mauser bayonet, model 98/05, no scabbard; a French socket bayonet, model 1822, no scabbard; a British Second World War machete, stamped AF0100 849/broad arrow/1945/. with leather sheath; a Commando type dagger with associated sheath; and three folding knives.
A WWI British bayonet, 1913 pattern, by Wilkinson, the 43cms single edged blade with full fuller and stamped '1907 3 16' GV cypher, fitted medal and leather scabbard, 57cms long overall; and a WWII machete, the 37cms single edged blade stamped 'Endure Josh Beal & Sons, Cast Steel, Sheffield 1948', with leather sheath, 52cms overall. dating: early 20th Century provenance: Luzon, Single-edged, machete blade worked in a single piece with a ferrule hilt, covered with two intertwined vegetable fiber bands. Wooden scabbard open at the top and with a wooden loop fastened with rattan wire binding. Complete with braided suspension rope with wooden button carved with a human's head. Rare. length 43.7 cm.
dating: End of 19th beginning of 20th Century provenance: Sarawak, Long, single-edged, machete-like blade, widening towards the weak, the shoulder with another, single-edged blade on one side, pierced and carved at the back; wide areas with rust damages. Triangular deer-horn hilt partially sculpted with geometric motifs, the base with a woven fiber band. Fine wooden scabbard; the front surface engraved with a snake, anthropomorphic figure and geometric and floral decorations, above decorated with fifteen coins (the sixteenth is missing) from different countries and eras (dated from 1766 to 1945). Very rare. length 67.3 cm.
