GRINDHOUSE (2007) - Isador "Machete" Cortez's (Danny Trejo) Machete - Isador "Machete" Cortez's (Danny Trejo) machete from Robert Rodriguez' trailer for the then-fictitious Machete feature film shown during Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's Grindhouse. Isador "Machete" Cortez opened his coat to reveal a multitude of blades hanging within, including several namesake machetes. Images of Trejo opening the blade-filled coat were used for posters and promotional images when Rodriguez eventually turned Machete into a real feature film in 2010.This machete features a long metal blade and a wooden handle with three metal pins distressed by production to appear well-used. The metal and wood exhibit scuffing and scratching. Dimensions: 24" x 2.5" x 1" (61 cm x 6.5 cm x 2.75 cm)Blade was dulled by production.Estimate: $800 - 1,600Bidding for this lot will end on Wednesday, March 13th. A vintage South African pattern No.9 bayonet, complete with associated scabbard.Likely of 1960’s manufacture and made by the South African Armaments Corporation.Un-fullered blade with single edge to bottom part, and a shorter edge to the top of the blade.Parkerised finish and un-sharpened blade as issued.Complete with its steel scabbard, as originally utilised with the Uzi sub-machine gun bayonets. Length in scabbard 27.5cm, blade length 16.8cm. Condition: generally good.Much of parkerised finish remaining, some normal service wear to the scabbard. Also, a Belgian ‘Licot Namur’ machete, likely of 19th century manufacture. Of relatively crude form, with a double edged blade and a long narrow fuller to both sides, and the makers mark stamped into one side of the blade. Decagonal shaped wooden handle / pommel, with flattened brass and steel binding to the handle. Overall length 59.2cm, blade length 47cm. Condition: overall, well used. Heavily patinated blade, with evidence of sharpening to both sides. Wear to handle commensurate with age and use. Scabbard / sheath absent.
A selection of 19th and 20th century military leather equipment / pouches. To include: 4 x 1903 pattern bandolier pouches (which have been cut to the straps at the back joining them together), a 19th century French M1874 Gras bayonet frog, a leather sword frog (possibly British Boer War era), a WW1 1916 dated British leather compass holder, by TF&S (complete with shoulder strap), a 1945 dated British leather machete sheath with belt loop, and a British WW1/WW2 Sam Brown leather belt with cross strap. 9 individual pieces. Condition: service and age related wear. The leather is a little dry to most pieces, and there is a little surface cracking in places, but all pieces remain structurally sound. A sympathetic clean and leather feed would improve every piece.
A 1952 dated British Army issue ‘Crocodile” machete, by Martindale of Birmingham. With two flat plastic grips, secured by 5 copper rivets. Hole to the pommel, likely for securing a leather strap. Single edged blade with broad arrow mark, plus a number stamp of ‘KE8277’ and the date of 1952. Marked for Martindale on the blade, plus the Crocodile logo. Complete with a hide sheath and belt loop. Total length 51.3cm, blade length 37.9cm. Condition: generally solid, but with service wear to most parts. Darkening to the blade, plus some very minor surface corrosion. The copper nuts to the handle have verdigris to both sides. The leather sheath is complete, and shows normal service wear.
WW2 Issue Machete 15 inch, single edged blade widening towards the point. Blade with maker "Legitimus, Collins & Co. Made In USA" dated 1945. Black composite slab grips. Contained in its leather scabbard marked "Robso Ltd Montreal 1945". Together with a post war, diver's knife. 6 1/2 inch, double edged blade. Rubber grip. Contained in its composite scabbard. 2 items
The hero machete wielded by Sylvester Stallone's character, John Rambo, in the 2008 action film Rambo. Having long-since abandoned his life as a lethal soldier, John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) lives a solitary life near the Thai border. Two weeks after guiding a missionary (Julie Benz) and her comrades into Burma, he gets an urgent call for help. The missionaries have not returned and although he is reluctant to embrace violence again, Rambo sets out to rescue the captives from the Burmese army. This custom made piece is constructed with a steel blade and features a handle wrapped in layers of black duct tape, with a string tied to the end of the handle. It is acompanied by a brown leather sheath, complete with leather twine attached to one end and a khaki utility belt fastened to the other. The back of the sheath bears duct tape with a handwritten annotation reading "Rambo / Hero." Stallone, in his role as "John Rambo," proudly displayed this machete in his home after filming concluded and was originally sold in the 2015 Stallone auction. The knife itself measures 17", while the sheath has a length of 18”. This lot comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Studio Auctions.

A WWI ERA USA MACHETTE AND A KUKRI STYLE KNIFE, the machete is date 1940 and was produced by the Legitimus Collins company and has the serial number 125 although we believe there is a zero missing and should read 1250, the last digit of the year is rubbed but again we believe this to be 1940, it comes in its scabbard that is dated S.L 1942 and also has a broad arrow with 82 under it, the Kukri has no markings on the blade but has a faux Ivory handle and comes in a black leather scabbard, Customers must satisfy themselves prior to sale in regards to conditions and authenticity, viewing is advised, condition reports are available on request
