The Ships of Old England, 1875, hand-painted ivory brisé fan, comprising 16 sticks each depicting an iconic British historical figure, e.g. a Druid, the Black Prince, Henry VIII, Nelson, Britannia, etc., each with appropriate sailing vessel above (except Druid and Britannia with a rowing boat and steam ship respectively), including HMS Victory, and various shells and seaweed specimens below, lettered in gold 'The Ships of Old England' (rubbed), final stick painted with shells and signed and dated 'A.D. Lucas 1875' in black ink, 1 stick slightly chipped at right-hand edge (barely visible from front), the sticks joined with cream silk ribbon, ivory suspension loop, 22.5 cm (8.75 ins), housed in a silk-lined gold-paper covered fan box (lid slightly broken at one end)QTY: (1)NOTE:Albert Dürer Lucas (1828-1919) painted mainly meticulously detailed pictures of flowers and foliage, sometimes incorporating butterflies and other insects. His father was the highly successful, but eccentric, sculptor Richard Cockle Lucas (1880-1886) who believed in fairies and liked to ride through the town in a chariot, whilst dressed in Roman costume. Lucas junior was based in Chilworth, Romsey, from 1880 and later in Southampton from 1890. He exhibited at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, the London Salon, Manchester City Art Gallery, and the Royal Scottish Academy. Examples of his work can be found in Southampton City Art Gallery.

Second World War British Official Press Photographs, one is a portrait photo of Wing Commander R.N.Bateson R.A.F., who led a precision low level attack on 11th April 1944 by 6 Mosquito aircraft of 613 (City of Manchester) Squadron against a single building, the Kunstzaal Kleikamp Art Gallery, at Den Haag, which contained the Dutch Central Population Registry, important to the Germans for checking the personal ID Cards of suspected resistance members, the building was destroyed in the attack, one of Batesons bombs going through the front door, the photo is dated 6th May 1944 and shows Bateson after being awarded the Dutch Air Cross by Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, the second photo is headed ' Mosquitos Attack Hague Target', it was taken during the raid and shows the target area enveloped in smoke from the exploding bombs, (2)

Denis Law signed 12x8 black and white photo. Denis Law CBE (born 24 February 1940) is a Scottish former footballer who played as a forward. His career as a football player began at Second Division Huddersfield Town in 1956. After four years at Huddersfield, he was signed by Manchester City for an estimated transfer fee of £55, 000, which set a new British record. Law spent one year there before Torino bought him for £110, 000, this time setting a new record fee for a transfer involving a British player. Although he played well in Italy, he found it difficult to settle there and signed for Manchester United in 1962, setting another British record transfer fee of £115, 000 (equivalent to £2, 508, 225 in 2020).Good condition. GEORGE HENRY RA RSA RSW (SCOTTISH 1858 - 1943),THE LOCKEToil on canvas, signed, titled label versoimage size 101cm x 79cm, overall size 121cm x 100cm Framed.Exhibition label verso: Irish International Exhibition, Dublin 1907. Label verso: Thomas Agnew & Sons, London.Note: The model for “The Locket” was Alice Perry. Alice posed for several works by George Henry in his studio at Glebe Place, Chelsea (London) between 1904 and 1906. These include “The Poinsettia” (1904) , “The Blue Gown” (1906) both exhibited at the Glasgow Institute of Fine arts, “Ready for the Theatre” (1905) and "The Tortoiseshell Mirror" (Paisley Museum & Art Gallery). Many of the works of this period show the strong influence of the works of Whistler. Whistler had several iconic works with the model seated in a similar manner. Ninety-six of George Henry's paintings are held in UK public collections including at Glasgow Museums, Kelvingrove, The Hunterian, The Laing, The Guildhall Art Gallery (London), Kirkcaldy Galleries, Manchester Art Gallery, The National Galleries of Scotland and The City Art Centre (Edinburgh) and numerous others in National collections outside the UK. His fabulous work of an elegant Edwardian “The Black Hat” (1910) is considered to be one of his finest works in the genre and was most recently exhibited to the public in "Modern Britain 1900 - 1960 Masterworks from Australian and New Zealand Collections" a major exhibition organised by the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne (15th November 2007 - 24th February 2008).Note 2: A leading member of the Glasgow School (Glasgow Boys), the most progressive artists in Britain during the latter part of the 19th c., George Henry moved to 26 Glebe Place, Chelsea (London) and established a hugely successful society portrait practice. He showed annually at the Royal Academy from 1904. Aside from formal figure work, he produced a number of elegant exhibition pieces around this time which were, in part, influenced by his lengthy visit to Japan with E. A. Hornel 1893-94.

Leicester City Police); 1939-45 star, F&G star, Defence, War and EIIR Coronation 1953, (un-named as issued), Police LS, EIIR 1954-80 issue (impressed Robert Mark Ch. Const.), VF, mounted court style. Accompanying the above awards a number of associated items: Police Commissioner's uniform tunic, overalls and cap, GC, (very minor moth traces to reverse of tunic which is named to Robert Mark and dated 1/72) and bearing ribbons including GBE and Knight Batchelor badge (the decorations for these two not present); a resin bust entitled "Sir Robert Mark, G.B.E. Q.P.M 1977 Sculptor Alec Dearnley" height 20cm excluding plinth, GC (part of name label missing); a walking cane, the grip being in the form of a police constable's head and shoulders, the haft impressed "Made by C. Warriner, Foxton Market Harboro 1978" and "R.M. 8.5.78", length 119cm, GC; a caricature of Sir Robert signed "Sallon 1974" the reverse bearing a presentation inscription, 30.4cm x 43.4cm GC; an oil on canvas portrait signed "F.W. 77" in frame, outer size 43cm x 53cm (repaired split to canvas); two HM silver wine labels: "Happy Birthday Sir Robert Mark our Grand Prix S. Star from your many friends at Good Year Donnnington March 1975" and "Thank You for your major contribution to our success from all your friends at Good Good Year" and HM Birm. 1985; (Sir Robert had advertised Good Year tyres); Note: Sir Robert joined the Manchester City Police in 1937 and in his autobiography stated that his father had been horrified saying it was only one step better than going to prison!; in 1940 he transferred to their Special Branch. 1942 saw him released for his wartime service, and, after training at Sandhurst, joined the 108 Tank Brigade and in Phantom (GHQ Liaison) Regt. He was demobbed in 1947 and returned to Manchester Special Branch, 1950 saw him promoted to Inspector, and Chief Inspector in 1952. In 1957 he was appointed Chief Constable of Leicester City Police. In 1967 he joined the Metropolitan Police as Assistant Commissioner and in 1972 was promoted to Commissioner. Under his leadership much corruption in the force was eliminated; he set up a police complaints department; and in 1975 the Balcombe Street Siege and the Spaghetti House Siege were both bought to a successful conclusion; he left the Met in 1977, and died in 2010. λ CHARLES ERNEST CUNDALL (BRITISH 1890-1971) A PORT VIEW WITH CITY BEYOND Oil on panel Signed and dated 1931 (lower right) 30.5 x 46cm (12 x 18 in.) Possibly a view of Liverpool. Panoramic views and topographical subject matter have become synonymous with Lancashire born artist, Charles Cundall. Cundall began his training for Pilkington's Lancastrian Pottery & Tiles working on designs for stained glass and pottery before studying at the Manchester School of Art. In 1912, he achieved a scholarship for the Royal College of Art and moved to London. However, during the First World War whilst serving with the Royal Fusiliers he was wounded and had to learn with his left arm to paint. On return to his studies, he joined the Slade School of Art in 1919. Following this he went to Paris to study and travelled widely through Italy and Europe. His first solo show was held by Colnaghi Gallery in 1927 and this is when he was first acknowledged for his panoramic vistas. During the Second World War Cundall worked on short-term contracts for the War Artists' Advisory Committee and later on commission to work on Merchant Navy subjects. Despite not being present at the event, Cundall's most well-known piece depicted The Withdrawal from Dunkirk in June 1940 which is now held in the Imperial War Museum collection. Both Richard Eurich and Cundall were commissioned to record the event and the works were exhibited beside one another at the National Gallery in August 1940. Other artists commissioned to record events in France during this time included Edward Bawden and Edward Ardizzone. Cundall was a mainstay of the Royal Academy, exhibiting regularly from 1918.

He was known as a hard-working and solid defensive midfielder who worked tirelessly to win the ball and provide his teammates with possession. He played with Calgary Foothills as a youth before beginning his professional football career in Germany with Bayern Munich. After seven years with the Munich side - during which time he won four German league titles and the 2000-01 UEFA Champions League - Hargreaves signed for Manchester United in 2007, winning the Premier League and UEFA Champions League in his first season. However, his time at Manchester United was plagued with injuries and he was allowed to leave the club at the end of his contract in June 2011. Hargreaves posted YouTube videos in a bid to convince potential suitors of his fitness, and in August 2011, Manchester City offered a one-year contract to Hargreaves, which he accepted. Dwight Yorke signd Manchester United 10x8 colour photo. Dwight Eversley Yorke CM (born 3 November 1971) is a Trinidadian and Tobagonian former professional footballer. Throughout his club career, he played for Aston Villa, Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, Sydney FC and Sunderland, mainly as a forward, between 1988 and 2009. He was the assistant manager of the Trinidad and Tobago national team until the completion of the qualifying matches for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Yorke scored 123 goals in the Premier League, a record for a non-European which was not broken until Sergio Agüero in 2017. Good condition Est.
