Frodsham, 84 Strand, LONDON, 651', on a silvered dial with black Roman hours and spade hands, inside scrolling foliate spandrels, inscribed 'Arnold, 84 Strand, LONDON, 651' above a date aperture, the five pane case with a spirit level set into the top, a fluted cornice, ogee moulded and stepped plinth and brass flattened bun feet, with pendulum, together with a later mahogany stepped bracket (2)clock 31.8cm high, 23cm wide, 17cm deepCatalogue NoteAlthough the name 'Arnold' appears on the dial, it is probable that this is a Frodsham clock, John Roger Arnold having died in 1843. 84 The Strand, originally a coffee shop, was purchased by Arnold by 1821 and, on his death, was bought by Charles Frodsham. However, Frodsham continued to use the name 'Arnold', together with his own name, on all the items produced by the shop until around 1858, when Frodsham stopped using Arnold's name on his products.
