August Oberhauser 1924 Olympic Games Football Final an extremely rare silver cased Omega pocket watch, the Lepine, 35.5 LOB manual-winding, sub-second model, case number 6.808.347, movement number 6.048.149, manufactured August 1924, with Omega Extract of Archives certificate, the two-toned silvered dial with black Arabic numerals, the reverse of the case inscribed AO, A.S.F.A. VIIIeme, Olympiade, PARIS 1924, with a number of letters relating to the presentation of the pocket watch, (a lot) The VIII Olympic Summer Games in Paris 1924 were a success for the Swiss delegation. With 7 gold and silver medals, there were also 10 bronze medals. Particularly noteworthy was the performance of the Swiss national football team, which reached the final after defeating Lithuania, Czechoslovakia, Italy and Sweden. In the final on 9th June 1924 at the Stade Olympique Yves-du-Manoir, Switzerland lost 3-0 to the overpowering Uruguayans, but there was no end to the joy of coming second in Switzerland at the time. With this achievement the Swiss team was unofficially European Champion of 1924. Around 100 years after the Swiss national team has never reached a placement like the one in 1924. In recognition of the outstanding achievement at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris the Swiss Football Committee decided to offer a gift to each of the players of the Swiss National Team. The choice of gifts were pocket watch, wrist watch, silver cup or ring. The players could choose, what kind of gift they would like to receive. Two players of the team chose an Omega Silver Pocket Watch. These players were: Max Weiler and August Oberholzer. The watches were engraved with their name initials and the monogram “A.S.F.A., VIIIème Olympiade , Paris 1924”. The example gifted to Max Weiler is currently on display at the Omega Museum. The sale of the pocket watch gifted to August Oberhauser gives any potential bidder the unique opportunity to own a rare and almost unique piece of not only Olympic but also football memorabilia.
