Comment(s): One from the famous series of photographs taken by Beaton of Monroe at the height of both of their storied careers. Although associated with ‘Vogue’ through most of his career, Beaton’s 'Monroe' portfolio appeared in ‘Harper’s Bazaar’, for which he worked in the mid-1950s. It was while in New York for the rehearsals and premiere of ‘My Fair Lady’ that Beaton photographed Monroe. With a possibility that he would be the designer of Monroe’s dresses for ‘The Prince and The Showgirl’, Beaton arranged a photography sitting in his suite in the Ambassador Hotel in New York City on 22 February 1956. Ed Pfizenmaier, Beaton’s assistant, noted that Monroe did her own make-up and ‘came just by herself, with these two little dresses… it was as simple as that.’ Beaton later recalled ‘She romps, she squeals with delight, she leaps on the sofa. She puts a flower stem in her mouth, puffing on a daisy as though it were a cigarette. It is an artless, impromptu, high-spirited, infectiously gay performance. It will probably end in tears.’ The session produced one of Monroe’s favorite portraits, which hung in her New York apartment that she shared with her third husband, Arthur Miller. A collection of autographs and photographs to include: Henry Cooper signed photograph, a postcard signed by Stirling Moss, a photograph signed by Jackie Stewart, an original postcard depicting the land speed record car 'Babs', a photo depicting a scene from Paris Grand Prix 1965, four colour transparencies depicting Formula One stars, six press photographs of Frank Sinatra, a Marilyn Monroe postcard. Also a postcard with signature by Margaret Thatcher.

An album containing approx 62 signed items, mostly promotional photographs or postcards. To include: Peter Sallis, Ronnie Barker. Elspet Gray, Mollie Sugden, Bernadette Milnes, Sir John Gielgud, David Kossoff, Andrew Sachs, Peter Finch, Michael Craig, Tony Wright, Marilyn Monroe are all printed examples. The vendor's uncle was a dedicated autograph hunter, often waiting at stage doors in Manchester and further afield in order to meet the stars, as well as writing off for many signatures. Original German One Sheet for the 1965 re-release for Mariln Monroe's "The Seven Year Itch" (Das Verflixte 7. Jahr). Designed by Fischer-Nobisch in Andy Warhol style for Atlas Distributors, this is one of the most striking and different Marilyn Monroe images ever issued. Produced for only a short time to promote the German re-release, this design is highly desirable and very scarce.
