De Keyser states that he did not attend the Royal visit to the Salon and therefore does not have precise details ‘mais S.M. a du admirer les oeuvres de Rosa Bonheur comme tout le monde’ (Translation: ‘but H.M. must have admired the works of Rosa Bonheur like everyone else’), continuing ‘Quant a l'objet de votre desir soyez persuade qu'on fera tout son possible pour atteindre le but propose. Je verrai demain mon beau fils et lui soumettrai vos reflexions au sujet de votre communique et la note dont il est fait mention dans votre lettre’ (Translation: ‘As for the object of your desire, be convinced that we will do everything possible to achieve the proposed goal. I will see my son-in-law tomorrow and submit to him your thoughts on the subject of your press release and the note mentioned in your letter’). Rare discovery in outstanding condition and unpublished work to date in the Spanish auction market from an important Andalusian private collection. Measurements: 161 x 83 cm canvas only, framed measurements: 180 x 100 cm. Related works: a Santa María Magdalena de Pazzi executed by Alonso Cano during his period in Seville around 1628, of a similar period to the present work, acquired by the Junta de Andalucía at Sotheby's London, lot 17, Old Masters Evening Sale, December 8 2021. NUBEO A BOXED LIMITED EDITION 'VANGUARD' GENTLEMAN'S MECHANICAL WRISTWATCH, reference NB-6021-03, number 143 of an edition of 300, with automatic mechanical semi-skeletonised 40-jewel movement engine-turned on the reverse and with twin gilt exposed balance-wheels, gilt bridges, smaller subdial at '2' for hours and minutes, with luminous dot markers and pierced luminous arrow hands, further subdial for running seconds at '7' within the first subdial, large 53mm diameter stainless steel case with winder at '4', blued wire rope-twist bezel held via six clamps in turn fixed with 'Mercedes' head screws, sapphire crystal front and rear glass and fitted to a dedicated black silicone-rubber strap with stainless buckle, case dial and movement signed and complete with its makers presentation box with card slip outer and papers.
