1975 Cheney BSA B50 MX Thumper Ex Ken Heanes Registration Number: KTC 566P Frame Number: JBRK595 Engine Number: B50MX AH03077 - In current family ownership since the 1970s - Ex-racer Ken Heanes The BSA B50MX was a single cylinder 499cc bike produced by BSA in Birmingham, with a light alloy engine, with versions for both road version and off-road competition use. The off-road competition version was basically a paired back version of the road going models, using the same frame, wheels and suspension. Some B50s were modified for off road use by specialist bike/engine builders such as Eric Cheney. Eric Cheney was an English motorcycle off-road racer, designer and independent constructor. Cheney was one of the best motorcycle frame designers of his era, concentrating mainly on off-road competition. After World War ll Eric Cheney joined motorcycle dealers Archers of Aldershot as a mechanic. Cheney began racing motocross and became one of Britain's best and most successful riders, along with his work companion Les Archer, who went on to become European Champion. Cheney had no formal training as a motorcycle designer yet was able to create original and high performance motorcycle chassis designs from a small lock up garage, with drawings of frame designs, often chalked on the garage wall. In an age of computer design and large teams with huge resources for research and development, Eric Cheney relied entirely on his long racing career experience. Some of Cheneys motorcycle designs are now famous in their own right, such as the competition BSA Gold Stars of Jerry Scott and Keith Hickman which used a BSA B50 specially tuned by Cheney. This 1975 Cheney BSA B50 MX Thumper was originally owned by top Hampshire Motorcycle racer and dealer Ken Heanes, lovingly known as the Fleet Flyer, one of Britain's most successful off road motorcycle racers. Our vendor's father purchased the machine directly from Ken Heanes in the 1970s and has been family owned since. First registered for the road in January 1976, when last used some years ago the bike ran well, but we understand it will need some checking over and servicing before being used once more. An interesting bike from long term family ownership.

2017 Ducati Scrambler Classic Registration Number: SE17 DXS Frame Number: 1N5000629 Engine Number: 1N5000629 - Many desirable upgrades - Two owners, under 1,700 miles from new Originally Ducati’s brand name for a series of single cylinder ‘scrambler’ motorcycles made for the American market from 1962 until 1974, the Scrambler’s creation is attributed to the American Berliner Motor Corporation. The model was later revived in 2015 as Ducati's modern-classic styled motorcycle, blending styling cues from various 1960s and ’70s Ducati singles, together with modern computer-aided design and manufacturing, electronic fuel injection, also vastly better performance, ride, handling and braking than their forebears offered.  The Scrambler Classic features an air-cooled, desmodromic 803cc V-twin developing a claimed 73 bhp for strong performance, wire-spoke wheels with black rims, a black inverted fork, frame, and swingarm, single front and rear disc brakes with ABS, and broad, two-passenger seats.  Registered in June 2017 this exceptionally nice two-owner example has been significantly improved by our current vendor. Acquired in June 2021 with just 778 miles recorded, the Scrambler was upgraded to a Flat Tracker style using all genuine Ducati parts (at a cost of over £3,000 in parts/painting alone), the only exceptions being an HP Course Exhaust Silencer, and number plate Tail Tidy. The following original Ducati factory parts were fitted: CNC aluminium sprocket cover, alloy chain guard, scrambler café racer brown seat, factory heated grips, seat cover, side body panels, under seat cover panels and brackets, headlamp cowl and fitting kit, adjustable brake and clutch lever kit, and a rear master cylinder relocation bracket. Other additions include LED turn indicators, belly pan protective plate, full throttle tapered handlebars and handlebar yoke sets, factory Ducati battery conditioner, Ducati Scrambler bike cover and key ring All factory Scrambler Classic parts have been removed but are included in the sale, such as the dual seat and silencer. New tyres have recently been supplied and fitted by Ducati Ferndown in Dorset. With an odometer reading at time of writing of 1,643 miles, this super Scrambler is offered complete with full Ducati main dealer service history, Datatag, valid MoT certificate to July 2025, factory toolkit, handbooks and all keys. All-in-all a fantastically well presented and uprated example of a modern classic, offered for sale at a fraction of its original purchase and upgrade cost.

1978 Honda CB750 Four K7 Registration Number: KBV 275S Frame Number: CB750K2812656 Engine Number: CB7500E3012726 - Now offered with No Reserve - Ridden to the auction Described by many as the first superbike Japan produced, the Honda CB750 first graced our shores in 1969, posing a direct threat to the British motorcycle industry. Hundreds of thousands of this eponymous model were sold, with many original examples still on the road today. The CB 750 was powered by a 736cc SOHC air cooled, transverse, in-line four cylinder, developing 68bhp, and topping out at 125mph. The very epitome of a classic 70s motorcycle, the CB750 had an upright comfortable riding position, large fuel tank and four chrome silencers. In 1976 Honda introduced the F1, a completely different machine with a Double Overhead Cam Engine and a single silencer. The F1 was a flop, and so Honda was forced to reintroduce the K series with the popular K7 model. This very nice original K7 has recently enjoyed much mechanical attention, with a recent top end engine rebuild, overhauling of the carburettors, and the fitting of electronic ignition. Understood to be in good running condition when last used in 2024, the bike has been in storage for some months so may benefit very light recommissioning. This classic Honda is all in all a genuine example of a true classic. This machine is now offered with No Reserve, to the highest bid on the day.

Lot 19A

1949 Bond Minibyke Registration Number: TBA Frame Number: TBA - Exceptionally rare model, in current ownership for c.40 years Before getting into three wheeled cars, Bond's first motorcycle was the aluminium-framed Villiers 1F-powered, two-speed ‘Minibyke” of 1950, initially without front suspension. A "De-Luxe" model, with telescopic forks, legshields and fully enveloping mudguards followed in 1951. Discovered by our vendor in his uncle's garden in the 1980s, this very early Minibyke was partly restored before residing in our client's loft for the last 30 or so years. Offered with a number of documents and period research on the bike, this exceptionally rare example is believed this was the third Minibyke built and such possibly a prototype model. The body of the bike was restored by our vendor, a former Rolls-Royce employee, with the remaining parts being cleaned, primed and sealed, stored in boxes to be reassembled. An interesting project, offered at No Reserve.

1979 Kawasaki Z1300 Registration Number:  XOU 78T Frame Number: KZ30A005393 Engine Number: KZ30A005393  - Recorded mileage of 39,263 - Largely overhauled, with minor completion works The Kawasaki Z1300 holds a special place in motorcycle history as one of the most audacious machines of its era. Introduced at the Cologne Motorcycle Show in 1978, its 1,286cc liquid-cooled straight-six engine set it apart from anything else on the market. Built to take on the likes of Honda’s CBX and BMW’s R100RS, the Z1300 wasn’t just about displacement—it delivered a smooth yet thunderous performance with around 120bhp and a reputation for effortless mile-munching. This Z1300 is a near-complete project that’s been through extensive work, with much of the heavy lifting already done. New Koni shocks, a deep sump, new rear tyre, new front pads and seals, a cleaned and rebuilt set of carburettors, new fuel tap, and checked valve shims all contribute to the bike’s strong mechanical standing. The frame and swingarm have been repainted, the tank remains rust-free. Recent oil change and spark plugs, compression checks have confirmed healthy readings across all cylinders. Originally imported from a dry-state USA in 1998, it retains its original logbook and a genuine factory service manual. A rare centre stand and airbox are also present, adding to its completeness. Upgraded four-pot brake calipers improve stopping power, the original two-pot calipers are included as spares for those who prefer a stock setup. With 99% of the work done, it requires some final electrical finishing and a battery, along with a few small jobs to complete the restoration. A fantastic opportunity to own one of Kawasaki’s most revered machines, ready for the next owner to put the finishing touches on.

1992 Honda VFR400 NC30 Registration Number:  K559 EGM Frame Number: NC30-1109641 Engine Number: NC13E - Desirable sports bike, rare sight in Europe The 1992 Honda VFR400 NC30 is a true gem of the 1990s sportsbike era. Revered by enthusiasts for its razor-sharp handling, balance, and advanced engineering, the NC30 is one of Honda's most iconic middleweight motorcycles. Powered by a compact and rev-happy 399cc V4 engine. Originally built for racing and homologated for road use, the NC30 became a formidable presence in Japan's 400cc racing scene. The bike’s light weight, combined with near-perfect geometry, made it a joy to handle, cementing its status as one of the best 400cc sportbikes ever made. One of the standout features of the NC30 is its signature gear-driven camshafts, a Honda trademark that provided better throttle response and enhanced engine reliability, the distinctive 360° crankshaft configuration provided a harmonious balance between power and smoothness, with a ferocious top-end delivery that made it a sensation on the track and the street. Fully adjustable suspension – both front and rear – gave riders the ability to tailor the bike’s handling to their preferences, while the twin-piston front brakes offered superb stopping power. The VFR400 NC30 was never officially sold outside of Japan, making it a rare and sought-after bike in markets like the UK, the EU, and the US. Now revered by collectors and track-day enthusiasts who appreciated its race-bred heritage, a true ‘pocket rocket,’ offering thrills that rivaled larger, more powerful machines despite its relatively small displacement. Today, the VFR400 NC30 has endured the test of time and continues to be regarded as one of the finest 400cc sports bikes ever produced.  As Classic Bike Guide put it: "The VFR400 NC30 is one of Honda’s finest creations, offering unmatched handling and a high-revving V4 engine that delivers exhilarating performance. A true motorcycle legend that punches well above its weight."

1960 Velocette Viper/Venom Registration Number: YVB 387  Frame Number: RS15008 Engine Number: VR3068 - In current family ownership for c. 50 years - 500cc top end Renowned for the quality of their hand-built motorcycles, Velocette built more motorcycles than the likes of their rivals BSA or Norton, and were also at the forefront of motorcycle racing from the 1920s to the 50s, taking several world titles and 24 hours endurance records. The company was a great technical innovator, with many of their developed and patented designs still being used on today’s motorcycles, such as rear swinging arm suspension with hydraulic dampers. One of their most popular models was the Viper, produced between 1955 to 1968, with a 350cc OHV single cylinder engine developing 28 bhp, and a respectable top speed of 91 mph. The sister machine, the 500cc Venom, developed 34 bhp to give a top speed of 100mph. Imagine the joy young riders found when it was discovered (by removing a spacer block and minor adjustment) they could fit a 500cc Venom top end to their 350 Viper. These machines were known as Viper/Venoms This lovely Viper/Venom has been in the same family for the last 50 years, having been subject to an older restoration, and since being stored for c.30 years. Recently the bike has been brought out of hibernation and fully recommissioned. Now in good running order, this classic Velocette is ready for summer fun.

Lot 32

1963 Velocette Venom       Registration Number: VJL 718 Frame Number: R514315 - Well presented, matching numbers example  The Velocette Venom is the 500cc version of the highly respected Viper 350cc motorcycle. The Venom was a fast and sophisticated bike that also found success in competition circles. The high cam and short pushrod engine design, together with a high compression aluminium cylinder head created a sporting ride for the discerning motorcyclist. Fine handling was provided by a strong brazed lug frame with swinging arm rear suspension. This 1963 Mark I 500cc Venom, a 4 speed version, is very nicely finished in classic Velocette black. An older restoration, the Velocette presents in very good condition, everything being in working order. The odometer reads 30,873 miles and only has 5 previous keepers on the V5 (a previous green log book is included). A matching numbers motorcycle, the Venom is equipped with a competition magneto and runs 12v electrics. A number of spares are included in this lot. With its lovely chromed fuel tank and mudguards, and the correct engine cover, this superbly presented Venom represents an eminently usable classic motorcycle.

1952 Gilera 150 Lusso Registration Number: XXG 411 Frame Number: 184234 Engine Number: 191557 - Now eligible for the Motogiro d'Italia - Restored by Italian specialist, rare model   Motogiro d 'Italia is the historical re-enactment of the oldest and most prestigious Italian motorcycle race in stages. Born in 1914 In the early 50s, new regulations in Italy allowed access to motorways for motorcycles with a minimum capacity of 150cc, so Gilera upgraded its 125 to 150cc. The 150 presented in 1952 became Gilera’s best selling motorcycle, ever with 96,000 units produced. The 150 was what the public wanted, and Gilera responded with the introduction of the Gran Turismo in 1955, followed by the Super Sport and Super Red in 1957. This lovely example was lovingly restored by an Italian bike specialist, more recently being UK road registered, and so is ready to be enjoyed on British roads. The vendor advises us the bike is now eligible for Motogiro d'Italia, "Ride The Legend", the historical re-enactment of the oldest and most prestigious Italian motorcycle race.

Lot 85

1971 Gilera 5V Trail Registration Number: N/A Frame Number: 010X4811 Engine Number: 0106547 - Fully restored, beautiful example Founded in 1909 by Giuseppe Gilera near Milan, almost from the start racing was clearly the firm's intention. After WW11 the company produced some very exotic race machines, acquiring the rights to the CNA Roundine race bike, featuring a DOHC supercharged four producing 80hp, and a top speed of 140mph. This engine became the basis for Gilera's very successful race bikes, but sadly by the late 60s due to spiralling costs the company was forced into receivership. Gilera was purchased by Piaggio, going on to produce some great bikes with the Gilera name, one of them being the 1971 Gilera 5V Trail. In 1971 a Gilera 5V Trail famously attempted to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, and although not quite making it, still broke all period records for a motorcycle ascent. This comprehensively restored Gilera 5V Trail features a rebuilt engine with a 75cc piston and barrel, and is now ready for running in. A five-speed gearbox ensures the bike will keep up with modern traffic. Offered with a NOVA certificate and official dating certificate ahead of UK registration, this increasingly rare model, in super order, is ready for its next mountain adventure.

2023 Ducati Panigale V4R Registration Number: DSZ 488 Frame Number: ZDM3D0GAAPB004752 - Delivery mileage only - Museum quality machine The name Panigale derives from the small manufacturing town of Borgo Panigale, the first model to arrive being the Ducati 1199 Panigale, introduced at the 2011 Milan Motorcycle show. At the time of its introduction, Ducati said that the 1199 Panigale was the world’s most powerful production motorcycle to carry a twin-cylinder engine.  The Panigale V4 R was unveiled in October 2022, with its launch delayed to the previous year. The V4 R is a WSBK homologation special with a 998cc engine producing 215bhp at an incredible 15,500 rpm, or with the optional race kit 233bhp. The V4 R is the most powerful current street-legal production bike available in the world; with a dry weight of 167 kilos the bike hits an incredible power-to-weight ratio of 1.42, the engine finally hitting the limiter at 18,250rpm. The frame was reworked and an adjustable swingarm pivot fitted, the fairing was widened by 38 mm and winglets applied, almost identical to those of the GP16 MotoGP bike. The suspension uses fully adjustable titanium nitrided NPX front forks by Öhlins, and the rear a fully adjustable Öhlins TTX36 monoshock. First registered in July 2023, this delivery mileage example can only be described as being in ‘as-new’ condition. The bike is fitted with the comprehensive electronic ride aids package with launch control, wheelie control, traction control and lean angle-sensitive anti-lock brakes. The Panigale has been registered on a UK V5C but never been ridden, and has only been on display as part of a private motorcycle collection.  Always dry-stored and displayed, this beautiful bike is offered complete with trickle charger, data-logger kit, BikeTrac GPS and Ducati paddock stand.

The GSX-R underwent many incarnations through the years, dropping the previous solid slab sides to become a sleeker machine, and earning the name the Slingshot because of its Mikuni BST36SS Slingshot carbs. 1992 saw major changes with the GSX-R WN, sporting a new water cooled engine, revised frame, bodywork and suspension. This lovely 1997 GSX-R 750 T is finished in the striking livery of the great AMA Superbike and World 500cc Champion rider Kevin Schwantz. 1957 AJS 16MC Trials Registration Number: PWV 7  Frame Number: 8188 C Engine Number: 1963 C - In current family ownership since 1971 - Original buff, green, older and current registration documents British motorcycle manufacturer Associated Motorcycles (AMC) made the AJS 16M at their works in Plumstead London, the former factory of the Matchless marque. The AJS 16M’s engine was almost identical to that of the Matchless G3, the main difference being the Matchless carried the magneto on the rear of the cylinder, whereas the AJS 16M magneto was located at the front. The 16MC (C for Competition) was modified with a welded duplex tubular frame and engine cradle to reduce weight. A redesigned exhaust and footrest were added to increase ground clearance to 7 inches, later raised to 10 inches for trials. The AJS 16MC was a regular winner at the Scottish Six Days Trials in the late 1940s at the hands of AJS works rider Hugh Viney. In the 1950s another works AJS rider, Gordon Jackson, won the Scottish Six Days trials a further four times on a 16M. All this made the AJS 16MC a firm choice for trials riders across the UK. This honest and original AJS 16MC has taken part in trials across the West Country over a number of years. The AJS is offered complete with V5C with the desirable registration number PWV 7. 1976 Yamaha XT500  Registration Number: NCV 640R Frame Number: TBC - One of the first shipments to arrive in Europe - Two owners from new - Restored in current ownership Among Yamaha’s motorcycle lineup in 1976 was a model with a big single-cylinder engine: the XT500 dual-purpose machine. What grew out of this were the “engine brands” that now symbolize Yamaha. On the American West Coast in the 1970s, enduro riding that involved traversing the vast plains and deserts of the country over several hours was popular among young riders. Yamaha was only selling 2-stroke models at the time and there were clear calls from the market for a 4-stroke model. To answer this demand, Yamaha developed the enduro-specific TT500 model. Designed, developed and released alongside the TT500 was the XT500.  Customers wanted powerful torque for enduro competition and the torque of a large displacement single-cylinder engine was the key to deliver this. The XT500 found a particularly strong following in France and Italy as a machine for beach rallies and the desert rallies of West Africa. An XT500 rider won the first Paris-Dakar Rally in 1979 as well as the second, soon turning it into the rally machine of choice. The XT500 evolved into the 4-valved XT550, and later, the XT600 Ténéré equipped with a big 30-liter fuel tank. “Ténéré” refers to a desert in Niger and Chad that covers over 400,000 square kilometers. One of the earliest examples to be imported into Europe, this 1976 XT500 was bought new from dealer R.S. Damerell of St.Austell by a Mr.John Salter, who put the bike to good use for six years on MCC, ACTC, and TRF events. By then it was due for overhaul, so it was replaced by a Kawasaki, and retired to the garage. Some 38 years later with the bike untouched, John sadly passed on, and so in 2020 the XT found itself in new ownership, and restoration commenced.  The frame was cleaned, stripped and powder coated, the forks stripped and re-assembled with new seals, gaiters and steering head bearings. The wheels were treated to new bearings, spokes, brake shoes, tyres and tubes. New rims were later fitted, at the time the rear hub cush drive rubbers and centre bush were replaced with phosphor bronze items. The engine was dismantled, rebored, fitted with a new piston, conrod, big end and main bearings and timing chain. The gearbox was overhauled with double roller mainshaft bearing, and a new kickstart ratchet guide. A new Micron high level exhaust has been fitted, and the electrics overhauled with a modern H4 headlamp unit, front and rear LED bulbs, Electrex World electronic ignition and a 12 volt generator. The rusty fuel tank was cleaned and refinished, and internally lined with POR15 sealer. The mudguards (fitted in first ownership) are Preston Pettys, the originals are available along with the rear light, chain-guard and twin cable throttle. The saddle was recovered by Leightons. Built by our owner to use, the Yamaha is in tidy and mechanically sound but not concours condition. Since being rebuilt it’s been used on two trials and some road work, covering around 1,000 miles in total. Offended with original sales receipts, service manual, spares book and a Haynes manual, this is a genuine example of one of the classic enduro bikes of the 1970s.
