Braun, Georg und Frans Hogenberg. Venetia. Kolorierte Kupferstichkarte wohl aus "Civitates Orbis Terrarum". 33,5 x 48 cm. Köln zwischen 1570-1624.Koeman, 4607. - Die besonders hübsch kolorierte und beeindruckene Karte von Venedig und den umliegenden Inseln (San Giorgio, Torcello oder Murano usw.) von Georg Braun (1541-1622) und Frans Hogenberg (1535-1590). Die Karte und Ansicht stammen aus dem ersten Teil des Civitates Orbis Terrarum, dem allerersten Atlas mit Stadtansichten, der ab 1572 in sechs Teilen veröffentlicht wurde. Dieses mehrbändige Werk beinhaltete zahlreiche Ansichten deutscher Städte und einige wenige Ansichten von Städten innerhalb Europas, wie zum Beispiel Venedig. Der untere Teil des Kupferstichs wird von einer Prozessionsszene des Dogen von Venedig eingenommen, der von den Würdenträgern der Stadt begleitet wird, sowie von einer Liste der wichtigsten Kirchen und Orte, die auf der Ansicht legendiert sind. - Leicht braunfleckig am Rand und mit kleinen Einrissen, sonst gutes Exemplar in besonders kräfitgem Kolorit. Sehr dekorativ.
