PICASSO PABLO: (1881-1973) Spanish Painter. A good and attractive A.N.S., `Picasso´, one page, 4to, at the base of a T.L.S., by Henry M. Roland, Woking, England, 11th March 1956, to Pablo Picasso, in French. Henry Roland refers to a sketch by Picasso which he has lent to the Bristol museum, and states in part `M. Sidney Janis has reproduced this work in his book “Picasso The Recent Years 1939-46” as an oil painting, according to Sabartes indications. M. Douglas Cooper thinks it is a petrol paint. And the Director of the Museum considers it is a gouache. I wonder dear M. Picasso, if you do remember and could let me know..´ Picasso responds to the same typed letter he has received, in pencil orange colour, crossing the word `petrol´, and adding alongside `non´ in his hand. Immediately beneath Picasso underlines in blue the word `gouache´ and adds alongside his response `oui´. At the base of the typed letter Picasso signs and underlines in his multiple colours pencil, mostly red and green, adding beneath `Cannes, A.M. France - on 15th March 1956´. Folded. EX £1500-2000

(source Wikipedia)SculpturesSkulpturen
