Unveiled in 2012 to huge acclaim, the 5204P-001 was the first split-second chronograph with perpetual calendar offered by the celebrated manufacture. Originally available only in platinum, the 5204 is a real show stopper and presents a fresher, pared down look from its predecessor the 5004. Housed in a bigger 40mm case, the 5204 sees a shift in the formatting of the dial by moving the Day/Night and leap year indications from the subsidiary dials to small apertures at 4 and 7. This readdressing of the dial provides a much more legible and simpler dial visually while still communicating a lot of information. The exterior was not the only change Patek made but also what forms the beating heart of any the watch - the movement. Fitted inside the 5204 features a new and entirely in-house manually wound caliber CHR 29-535 PS. This development of a purely Patek Philippe split second perpetual calendar chronograph makes the 5204 an incredibly exciting model to have in any collection. The 5204 represents Pateks' continuing drive to seek perfection and innovation. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: YY Subject to CITES regulations when exporting items outside of the EU, see clause 13.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Limited to 100 pieces, this magnificent enamelled and engraved watch honours the second oldest watch in the manufacturer's collection. When the Ellipse was first launched in 1968, its design was hailed as a striking combination of audacity and harmony. The balanced proportions were inspired by the 'Golden Section,' the divine proportions discovered by ancient Greek mathematicians. This tribute watch's dial has a spectacular volute pattern that has been painstakingly engraved by hand on the 18K white gold plate and subsequently enamelled to produce a striking design.Having only been launched less than 2 years ago and with such a limited production run, the Golden Ellipse 50th Anniversary is something that is usually unattainable and the current lot offers an opportunity to obtain a truly beautiful watch that rarely comes to auction. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: YY Subject to CITES regulations when exporting items outside of the EU, see clause 13.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Produced in all four metals, the reference 3970 was also the first time a perpetual calendar chronograph was cased in white gold by Patek Philippe. The 3970 can be categorised into 4 separate series, each bearing slightly different characteristics. Patek Philippe. A fine and extremely rare stainless steel manual wind split second single button chronographReference: 5950ADate: Purchased 16th November 2011Movement: 27-jewel Cal.27-525 PS manual wind, adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism & 5 positions, No.525117Dial: Silvered, applied black coated white gold Breguet numerals, black outer 1/5th second and minute track, black flourishes to each corner, subsidiary dials at 3 and 9 for seconds and 60 minute recording, black leaf hands, black centre split second handsCase: Polished cushion form, snap on exhibition back, start/stop/reset set within crown, split second button at 2, No.4541753Strap/Bracelet: Dark brown Patek Philippe alligator leatherBuckle/Clasp: Signed steel buckleSigned: Case, dial & movement Size: 36mm Accompaniments: Patek Philippe box, outer card, Extract from the Archive Footnotes:When it was launched at Baselworld in 2010, the 5950A turned heads. The single-button, split second chronograph is powered by the revolutionary Calibre CHR 27-525PS. The movement, which was first used in the 5959P is, to this day, still the thinnest column-wheel chronograph calibre ever made. At just 5.35mm it is an exquisite feat of the finest watchmaking. Movements like this are the reason Patek Philippe are so revered.Despite its relatively young age, this piece is already a tried and true collector's item. The 5950A is an Application piece, meaning it was only ever made for and sold to Patek's best clients. Its limited production making it exceptionally difficult to find. The watch's distinctive design only further improves its desirability. While most complicated Pateks are fashioned from precious metals, this reference is crafted in stainless steel, a surprising, but welcome deviation from the norm. The classic raised Breguet numerals and belle epoque flourishes seamlessly compliment the modern aesthetic of the case making the watch timeless and modern. With such consistently strong numbers at auction, this model is the ultimate collector's piece. It is already cemented as one of the most impressive pieces from, arguably, the most important manufacturer. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: YY Subject to CITES regulations when exporting items outside of the EU, see clause 13.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Patek Philippe. A very fine 18K gold manual wind chronograph wristwatchReference: 130Date: Manufactured 1939, Purchased 6th April 1940Movement: 23-jewel Cal.13-130 manual wind, adjusted to 8 positions, No.862327Dial: Silvered, applied gilt dot hour markers, Roman numeral 6 and 12, black outer 1/5th second and base scales, Case: Polished round, snap on back, crown flanked by twin rectangular buttons, No.620413Strap/Bracelet: Black Patek Philippe alligator leather Buckle/Clasp: Signed 18K gold buckleSigned: Case, dial & movement Size: 33mm Accompaniments: Extract from the ArchivesFootnotes:In 1934 Patek Philippe launched their first serially produced chronograph wristwatch – the reference 130. This is one of those pinnacle moments in Pateks history whereby the demand from their clients was of such a sophisticated level that they could warrant creating a chronograph wristwatch in a more regular output. The design of the watch can be seen to have been influenced by that of the Calatrava, in particular the ref.96, with its stylish lugs and refined round case. It was predominantly available in yellow gold, rose gold and stainless steel with some special two-tone cases also being produced on special request. The popularity of this model continued for a significant amount of time and the watch was in production for near on 30 years. As with all of Pateks early chronographs the movement was based on a heavily modified ebauche, in this instance the Valjoux 23. The 13 130, as it became known, is exclusive to Patek Philippe and had been resigned to a golden age of chronograph watchmaking until 2011 when Patek cased 16 unused calibre 13-130s into the ref. 3670A that had been rediscovered in the mid-1990s. The appreciation for the 13 130 and what it stands for in Pateks heritage ensured that the demand for this later iteration was phenomenal. At 33mm, the 130 is an incredibly wearable watch and exudes refinement and elegance. For any collector looking to expand into vintage chronographs, the 130 is a must. Further examples of early reference 130 chronographs are illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p.263 and in Ore d'Oro 2 by Jader Barracca, Negretti, Franco Nencini, pl.C9.This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: YY Subject to CITES regulations when exporting items outside of the EU, see clause 13.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Patek Philippe. A very fine and rare factory sealed Limited Edition Anniversary 18K white gold automatic calendar flyback chronograph bracelet watch with diamond set dialModel: 40th Anniversary NautilusReference: 5976/1G-001Date: Purchased 12th June 2017Movement: 35-jewel Cal.CH 28-520 C automatic, 21K gold rotor, Gyromax balance, No.7043087Dial: Ridged blue, engraved 1976-40-2016, baguette diamond set hour markers, white outer 1/5th second divisions, date aperture at 3, subsidiary dial at 6 for seconds, 30 minute and 12 hour recording, polished baton hands with luminous inserts, centre chronograph handCase: Brushed and polished 3-part case, exhibition back, crown flanked by twin buttons, No.6147455Strap/Bracelet: Brushed and polished linkBuckle/Clasp: Signed folding claspSigned: Case, dial & movement Size: 44mm Accompaniments: Patek Philippe Nautilus Anniversary cork box, Certificate of Origin, Attestation, Calibre CH 28-520 C brochure, Patek Philippe pouch, setting tool, swing tagFootnotes:In 2016 the legendary Nautilus celebrated its 40th Anniversary. To observe this significant date within the models history, Patek Philippe launched two new references - the 5711/1P and the 5976/1G. The current lot represents the latter reference and is offered fresh to market, in factory sealed and unworn condition. The most distinctive characteristic of the 5976 is the embossed 1976-40-2016 that spans the upon half of the iconic ridged blue dial. There is no doubt that this reference plays a special part in the Nautilus history and Patek Philippes commitment to celebrating this is commendable. The dial also features ten baguette and three princess cut diamonds for the hour markers which add to the distinction and luxury of this reference.Taking the commemorative additions to one side, the overriding design is reflective of the famed 5980 and this extends to the use of the same celebrated CH 28-520 C calibre inside. The calibre CH 28-520 was the first Patek Philippe self-winding chronograph wristwatch to be combined with an annual calendar complication. This milestone within the evolution of the manufactures movements make it highly desirable amongst collectors. Back to the exterior of the watch and coming in at 44mm, the 5976 again shines out as being the largest in the Nautilus family. With an all white gold bracelet the reference certainly has substance and its' presence is unmissable.Patek Philippe limited the release of the 5976 to just 1,300 examples. These were available only to their most loyal and steadfast clients and as such this reference rarely appears at auction. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

The Ocean Liner series comprised of three limited edition timepieces paying homage to the days of transatlantic travel before the rise of air travel. The accompanying Certificate of Origin implies that this is the second dial option for this series and our research suggests this is the first time this variation has been offered at auction.Cloisonné enamelling is an ancient decorative technique that involves the laying of gold wires in intricate designs with the negative spaces filled with enamel. Enamel is a vitreous substance coloured by adding metal oxides. The enamel is crushed to a fine powder and mixed with water to make a paste. According to Patek Philippe, after application and once dry, this paste is fired in a kiln at temperatures exceeding 800°C, fusing to the metal base of the dial and becoming extremely hard and stable. Depending on the intricacy of the design, a model can return to the kiln up to 12 times.Due to the complexity of the process and the skills required to craft such a dial, this timepiece is very limited and unique. In original factory condition, this watch is absolutely untouched and presents a rare opportunity to obtain a true piece of horological art. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: YY Subject to CITES regulations when exporting items outside of the EU, see clause 13.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Her father, Prince Philippe Count of Paris, had been heir to the French throne and as such she spent her early years dipping in and out of exile as and when the French Republic dictated it necessary. She had several important suitors but it was Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, 2nd Duke of Aosta (1869–1931) whom she eventually married in 1895. The current lot was gifted to the Duke by Hélène upon their 10th wedding anniversary and bears the inscription '25-6-95 hope is life, Hèlène 25-6-05'. Their marriage was not necessarily a happy one and the Princess spent a lot of her time on long trips travelling around Africa. In time the Duke gifted the watch to Maresciallo Emilio De Bono who in turn presented it to the current vendors grandfather. The cuvette is co-signed by the retailers Musy Padre e Figli. Musy Padre e Figli are one of the oldest jewellers in Italy and until fairly recently had been kept within the same family since their inception in 1706. Based in Turin, they were able to take advantage of the growing wealth of the city in the 18th and 19th centuries and bore the title of 'Goldsmiths and Watchmakers of the House of Savoy'.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
