Hugh William Williams, FRSE (Scottish, 1773-1829) 'Temple of Serapis at Pozzuoli' inscribed with title and dated "July 1818" lower centre pen and ink over pencil 29 x 43cm (11 x 17in) Other Notes: The present drawing and the one in the following lot belong to an important group of drawings which record Williams' return journey from Greece to Scotland in 1818 (as corroborated in his journal from his Grand Tour). The majority of these views depict Italy and thus attest to Williams' travels through Naples and Rome, before heading home via Switzerland, Germany and France.

Roman School, 18th Century A design for a candelabrum from St Peter's, Rome inscribed lower centre pen and ink with wash 27.50 x 11.50cm (11 x 4in) Other Notes: The candelabrum on which this drawing is largely based, has been variously attributed in the past to both Michelangelo and Raphael. It is said to have been cast in solid gold by Benvenuto Cellini.
Ï’A Regency brass and scarlet tortoiseshell inlaid ink stand, circa 1815, in the manner of George Bullock, directly after designs in the Wilkinson Tracings, the dished rectangular tray centred by three rectangular cut-glass ink-wells, two with lids inlaid with a flower, flanked by a pen tray on each side, 40cm wide, 27.5cm wide This design of marquetry is among a collection of tracings (originally a scrapbook) called Tracings by Thomas Wilkinson from the designs of the late Mr Bullock 1820, now in the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. THE WHO - MY GENERATION LP (ORIGINAL UK PRESSING BRUNSWICK LAT 8616). Really neat original UK copy of the iconic 1965 album (Brunswick LAT 8616, issue with M/T tax code on both sides). The record is in glossy VG+ condition showing some light surface and hairline markings that are never of a heavier nature whatsoever. Matrix: MG-10256-1B & MG-10257-1B. The sleeve is in VG+ condition with some minor laminate wear to the front with some light discolouration and a name written in pen on the reverse.

ANCIENT GREASE - WOMEN AND CHILDREN FIRST LP (ORIGINAL UK MERCURY PRESSING - 6338 033). Extremely clean original UK copy of the eponymous (and only) LP from the Welsh rockers. The record is in superb Ex+ condition showing only a couple of extremely fine, faint and wispy markings under intense LED lighting. The sleeve is in clean Ex condition showing very faint remnants of a pen marking on the reverse and some rather light edgewear.

Titles are The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - Framed (seldom seen 1st UK Vertigo swirl 6360 081 - outlandish Ex+ or archive condition showing, to our eyes, no discernible markings! A true final upgrade/Neat Ex sleeve with a little discolouration on the reverse and a name in pen also on the reverse, this is only small) and Agent 00 Soul (Fontana TF 610 - VG with some surface marks and a few scuffs, 3 pronged centre fully intact).

DR STRANGELY STRANGE - HEAVY PETTING LP - ORIGINAL UK PRESSING (VERTIGO 6360 009). Really neat copy of this Vertigo swirl monster from 1970, this the original UK pressing (6360 009). The record is in very clean Ex condition showing just a few very light and minor hairline markings to the very glossy playing surfaces. Brill sharp, clean and bright labels. Matrix: 636009 1Y//1 & 2Y//1. Complete with British patent number swirl inner in Ex condition. The elaborate original sleeve is in Ex condition - usually heavily worn, there is only some light creasing to the different sections. Elsewhere a very clean example, there is a small name written in pen on the front.

THE BEATLES - YESTERDAY AND TODAY ('BUTCHER COVER') - 3RD STATE - ORIGINAL STEREO PRESSING (CAPITOL ST-2553). A US stereo 3rd state Yesterday And Today - of the most controversial sleeve design of all time! The sleeve is in VG condition. A clean example, there is a complete seam split along the bottom edge, though this with care could be restored. The 'butcher' image is clean and sharp with a couple of very light paper tears. The sleeve measures 12 2/8" horizontally and 12 4/8" vertically. This copy was printed at Capitol's Los Angeles plant indicated by the 5 next to the RIAA logo on the reverse. Elsewhere on the reverse, all the text is sharp and clean, there is a light paper tear on the left hand side. The record is in glossy VG+ condition - very well presented indeed, there are some rather light and minor surface markings that never extend any deeper than this. There is a little red marker on the side 1 label and a name in pen on the side 2 label (on the yellow 'rainbow' perimeter). Matrix: ST-1-2553-B-16 & ST-2-2553-A-17.

Stourhead Library - Wiltshire. Catalogue of the Hoare Library at Stourhead, Co. Wilts. To which are added, an account of the Museum of British Antiquities; A Catalogue of the Paintings and Drawings, and a Description of the Mansion: by the Late Sir Richard Colt Hoare, Bart., Printed for Private Use, London: John Bowyer Nichols and Son, 1840, engraved frontispiece, some spotting and toning mostly to initial leaves, verso of front free endpaper inscribed 'for G. Poulett Scrope Esq., M.P. with the compiler's best respects' (John Bowyer Nichols), recto of front free endpaper with pencil inscription 'J.E. Jackson, Leigh Delamere, given to me June 14 1867 by S. Powlett Scrope Esq. of Castle Combe, Wilts', with tipped-in 4 page autograph letter signed J.E.J. (John Edward Jackson, 1805-1891) written whilst at Stourhead Inn, Feb 4 1852 to 'My dear Henry', detailing research undertaken at Stourhead over a period of two days, and includes a pen & ink sketch made from a miniature painting in Sir R.C. Hoare's copy of Hungerfordiana of Sir Edward Hungerford, and with two late 19th century newspaper cuttings relating to the library sale pasted to front endpaper, original cloth, gilt decorated spine, covers faded and mottled, rubbed and extremities a little frayed, large 8vo (Qty: 1)NOTESThe volume includes three loosely inserted autograph letters signed Rev. Dr John Baron (c.1817-1885) on Upton Scudamore Rectory letter headed paper regarding the sale of the Stourhead library and collection. The first single page letter dated 16 March 1883 to the Wiltshire antiquary Canon John Edward Jackson (1805-1891) of the Rectory, Leigh Delamere, regards the future sale of the collection at Sotheby's, suggesting money could possibly be raised by subscription to purchase eligible lots to then deposit at Salisbury Museum or Devizes Museum (WANHS). The second four-page letter dated 22 March 1883 to Canon Jackson also discusses the dispersal of the Stourhead library and collection, with the suggestion that Lord Bath of Longleat and the Wiltshire Archaeological Society (Devizes) might be able to acquire some of the collection. The third four-page letter is an autograph copy by Baron of his letter to the antiquary Rev. Alfred Charles Smith (1822-1898) of Yatesbury Rectory, Calne dated 22 March 1883, again concerning the future of the Stourhead collection and antiquities.

'Il Principe, translated from the Original Italian by William Dalton', 1845, manuscript in black ink on paper, [6] + 178 + [3] pp., mainly 25 lines to the page in a neat right-sloping cursive hand, with frequent corrections by the same hand using a different pen, patterned endpapers, all edges gilt, contemporary red velvet, rebacked, lettered 'Il Principe' in gilt on front board, wear to extremities, 4to (23.2 x 18.5 cm) (Qty: 1)NOTESProfessor Cecil H. Clough (1930-2017), Reader in Medieval History, University of Liverpool. An apparently unpublished manuscript translation of Il Principe into English. The translator, one William Dalton, seems to have intended it to be a fair copy before revisiting it, providing a number of corrections and adding his name to the title-page.
