ANTHONY LOUSADA (20TH CENTURY) Bridge at Casteaux, signed, pencil and colour washes, 32 x 28cm; a pencil drawing by the same hand - `Thames - Chiswick Reach - Looking East`, 8 x 13cm; and three further works to include: Norman Smith - Still life - sepia study of a nude, and a pen and ink study signed `Horvath` (5)
* Delius (Frederick, 1862-1934). A profile portrait sketch of the composer Frederick Delius, believed to be taken from life, by the cellist Francis Peracchio, c.1929, pencil on verso of a London hotel restaurant menu, captioned Delius but unsigned, pin hole to upper edge, 26.5 x 21cm (10.5 x 8.25ins). A note in the hand of Anthony Gasson accompanies the drawing giving details; Francis Peracchio was the nephew of the recorded artist G. Peracchio and was himself a cellist, playing at the Carlton Hotel, Berkeley Hotel and at the BBC. He sketched regulars at the restaurants including Toscanini, and was the subject of many favourable comments. Delius suffered the effects of syphilis and by this time was blind and had poor mobility if not paralysis. He was reliant on his amanuesis Eric Fenby, as well as the financial support of Thomas Beecham. -1
* Malibran (Maria, 1808-1836). A group of three sheets of pen and ink sketches depicting performers in rehearsal, caricatures etc, pen and brown ink on wove paper, the larger sheet showing one male and four female figures in costume, sheet size 21.5 x 32.2cm (8.5 x 12.75ins), the two smaller sheets depicting the profile head of a male performer in pencil, and a group of caricature heads in brown ink, sheet size 20.5 x 17.5cm (8 x 6.8ins) and slightly smaller, each sheet signed Mme Malibran (not in the singers hand). As the Comtesse de Merlin recounts in her 1838 memoir of the singer, Malibran would often pass the time during rehearsals either drawing sketches and caricatures or jotting down songs. -3

(1861 - 1945) Framed, unsigned, watercolour and pencil on paper, scale drawing of `The Five Virtues` between columns, and decorative frieze above, 17.5cm x 40cm. Provenance: By family descent; Exhibited at the Fine Art Society, July 1978 and `Joseph Southall 18611944: Artist-Craftsman, London, 1978` exhibition, 8th August 1980 - 30th September 1980, catalogue no. WILFRED KNOX (1884 - 1966) Framed, signed, dated 1946, oil on canvas, maritime scene showing a large British battle ship with rowing boat off the English coast, together with a framed, unsigned, pencil sketch on paper, preparatory drawing of the same composition, 39.5cm x 50cm and 26cm x 37cm, (2).
Original drawing of Edward VII in India Edward VII an original pencil drawing by Sydney Prior Hall showing Edward VII^ then Prince of Wales^ during his legendary visit to India^ bestowing the Order of the Star of India on the Maharajah of Jaipur at a ceremony held in Calcutta on January 1st 1876. The drawing also shows the Earl of Northbrook^ at the time the Viceroy of India. This is the working drawing for Prior Halls oil painting of the event which belonged to the Earl of Northbrook and which hung in his ancestral home at Stratton Park. Measures approx 19x14ins^ framed with a print of the oil painting affixed to verso. Fine condition. Prior Hall (1842-1922) is noted for his paintings of Indian subjects. His portrait of Prince Victor Duleep Singh^ commissioned by the Prince for Queen Victoria^ now hangs in the Durbar Hall in Osborne House on the Isle of Wight.
