LONDON', borderline and full floral scroll engraved solid frame featuring the Beaumont and Adams numbers within banners, sliding safe mounted behind the cylinder to the right, en-suite fully engraved plain cylinder with the serial number '37518' featured in a banner, double action mechanism with polished spurred hammer, chequered semi saw-handled walnut grip with swollen pommel and gold shield-shaped vacant escutcheon to back, fully engraved domed grip-cap with central trap and guarded blued trigger, appearing to have seen little use but gilt wash thinned and lost in places.

PURDEY 314 1/2 OXFORD STREET, LONDON', long bead fore-sight, rear-sight of a short folding ladder with shallow fixed notch and additional three folding leaves, colour hardened breech-blocks with scroll engraving to the rib-end and platinum line engraved vents, fully borderline and scroll engraved top-tang, colour hardened bar-action locks signed 'PURDEY' below the sliding safes, drum based dolphin headed hammers, birdseye maple half-stock chequered at the wrist and fore-end, iron furniture with chequered spur to the lower tang and brass mounted mahogany ramrod, the whole expertly refinished to an extremely high standard and in its maker's mahogany case, lined and compartmented in green baize and including two matching number moulds and a wad-punch, sizing die, powder-flask, powder tin, cap-tin and other sundry accessories, Purdey parchment label with inked charge details inside lid.

An English Pepperbox Pistol, circa 1840-1850, With a three inch rotating six shot barrel, percussion cap action, lightly scroll engraved, the pistol grip with two wood inserts, apparently unsigned, 9mm bore (some corrosion, barrel rotates, percussion lever raises, however trigger action requires service) Legal Note: This is an obsolete antique firearm and sold as a collectors item only, it does not require a licence under current firearm regulations in the United Kingdom. Usually fired from the hip this was used as a defensive weapon in close quarters with a typically fairly inaccurate, and very short range! The barrel would rotate on each pull of the trigger and the black powder and ball let fly having been ignited by a percussion cap laid over each barrel nipple.

A CASED PAIR OF 19th CENTURY PERCUSSION SAW-HANDLED TARGET OR DUELLING PISTOLS With maker's name obscurely engraved to lock-plates and top flat of barrel, further scrolled foliate engraving to lock-plates, hammers and tigger guards, the barrels measuring approx. 12.4cm in length, steel ramrods suspended beneath, housed in a later fitted case lined in green baize, with accoutrements Condition Report:"The pistols are in good overall condition. Both hold half and full-cock well, with a strong hammer release. The cock on one pistol is considerably further forward than the other. Stocks are well patinated, with widespread nicks and bumps. Chips to protruding element of the saw-grips. There is a substantial loss to the stock of one pistol next to the metal ramrod housing. Triggers and trigger guards are tarnished. Makers marks are indistinct and do not appear to be in English script.F. Joyce & Co. label on the percussion cap tin is a facsimile. There are patches of surface rust to the bullet mould. Case is later and probably adapted from a cutlery canteen."

Smooth, percussion, backward spring locks, smooth frame with lever to raise the barrel. Interesting selective fire on the back of the butt, working in three ways: single shot (two ways) and double shot. Wooden grip. Iron ramrod with spring above the barrels. length 33.5 cm.

Forward spring percussion lock with flat lock plate, remains of browning, signed 'L. C. Perrenoud A LA SAGNE'. Walnut full stock with micro-checkered palm rest and grip. Iron mounts, anatomical trigger guard, trigger and set trigger, complete with horn-tipped wooden ramrod and iron cartridge extractors; octagonal silver shield with monogram on the back. One converted for the Krnka breech-loading rifle, with missing parts to the mechanism, lock plate marked in Cyrillic and dated '1866,' with marks at the rear side. length each plate 13,3 cm.

Breech block with gold-inlaid Savoy marks. Tang with broad sight. Slightly bell-mouthed nozzle, with crescent engraving surrounded by rays on the back. Percussion lock (crack in the centre of the lock plate), with working mechanism. Wooden, three-quarter stock. Brass mounts partially engraved. Butt stock with iron patchbox on the right side. Restorations. Brass-tipped wooden ramrod. length 92 cm.

dating: 1865 provenance: Naples, Octagonal, rifled, 11 mm cal. barrel, marked at the base in gold 'N. 3' and 'COSENZA', with foresight. Smooth, six-shot cylinder, signed in gold 'FRAN. DE LUCA' and with chamber numbering from one to six. Loading gate and extractor, there is also a magazine, which suggests that the gun has been converted from percussion to central fire; frame marked on one side 'ETA DI G. VITARI', on the other 'GIUGNO 1865 FRANCO', richly engraved with floral motifs. Lower tang, upper tang, trigger guard and butt plate engraved en suite with the frame. Wooden butt partially carved in floral motifs with minor restoration and moth damage. Rare. Finely engraved and carved lock converted to percussion, the cock shaped as a fish, piston holder with two snake's heads at the base. Wooden full stock with palm rest and checkered grip, small restorations, a sculpted mask under the butt. Partially pierced silver mounts, engraved with floral motifs, the back side of the trigger guard is restored, a mask in the centre of the palm rest; two barrel brackets decorated with birds. Horn-tipped iron ramrod with metal discs at each end. Miquelet lock finely converted to percussion keeping the original cock. Carved, wooden full stock sculpted with floral and geometric motifs, partially carved iron mounts; iron ramrod. length 35 cm.
