An early 19th Century gentleman's overcoat or travel percussion pistol by Rigby of Dublin, having a fine Damascus steel 3 1/4 inch break-off barrel secured to the walnut stock by a single key, having a bead sight set into a shallow channel running the length of the barrel, the channel platinum inlaid "Dublin", the breach and vent also platinum-inset, fitted with a swivel ram rod, the lock and hammer finely foliate-engraved, the former bearing the name "W & L RIGBY", the stock having a finely checkered butt, flared at the pommel exhibiting French influence and incorporating a hinged engraved steel back strap opening to reveal a trap for percussion caps, a vacant German silver escutcheon inset into the pommel, (hammer holding securely at two safe positions, trigger functioning, action positive)
