Suzuki Harunobu (Japan, 1725-1770)"Kotoji No Rakugan", from "The Eight Scenes of Drawing Rooms", a girl puts plectra on her fingers by a Japanese Koto while her page girl studies a book of music, woodblock print, first published circa 1766, in card mount and frame under glass, 36 cm x 28 cm overall[Harunobu was the most eminent Japanese portrayer of beautiful women. SIMON & HALBIG; a large German bisque headed doll with painted open eyes and open mouth with upper teeth showing, and articulated limbs, height 77cm, and a further bisque headed porcelain doll with painted open eyes (2).Condition Report: Large doll with size 14 to back of head. Hair line crack to the foreheadwhich runs down to the eye socket. Repaired break tot he right hand side of the head running around the ear, loss to the surface by the ear. Eyes have now been fixed into position. Hands are a different colour to the main body, hands with general wear and a chip to the left hand. Composition body with age wear scuffs and marks throughout. S&H doll with creaking internal springs. Head a little grubby, the eyes have been repaired and may not be original. Compositin body with re-painting throughout, obvious surface losses which have been re-painted over. Right hand with poor quality restored fingers.
SFBJ; a French bisque headed doll with sleeping eyes and articulated limbs, height 48cm, and two further bisque headed porcelain dolls with articulated limbs (3).Condition Report: Doll in white dress with a hair line crack to the right hand side of the head. A small firing crack to the back of the head. age wear to the detailing on the head and eye lids worn and one eye with possible damage. Composition body with expected general sge wear scuffs and small losses. Doll with blue skirt with some later plaster to the inside of the head and a small wooden bar crossing the internal space, but there appear to be no obvious cracks. Leather body generally ok, tarnishing and corrosion to some to leather studs. Doll in venvet dress lacking an earring. Head lightly grubby with nominal wear, overall ok. Velvet dress heavily rubbed throughout. Leather body with general age wear discolouration. Small internal wire protruding to one arm. Split to leather at knee and ankle.
