1987 Porsche 944 Transmission: automaticMileage:82730The 944 was to feature new styling based upon the Le Mans styled Porsche 924 Carrera GT, along with a brand-new Porsche-designed and developed 2.5 litre, four-cylinder engine. Sales of the 168bhp coupé went through the roof with a massive 26,800 Porsche 944s being produced by the end of 1982. To put this figure into context, the entire Porsche company made just 28,000 cars in 1981. The new Porsche owners were attracted by the stunning looks and presence of the model and in 1985, the 'Lux' coupé arrived with a completely new interior design dominated by a smooth, sweeping oval dashboard. This severed all ties with the 924 and completed the move upmarket for the 944. The dash provided improved ergonomics for the instruments with all useful components and buttons placed close at hand. With so many Porsche 944's manufactured, they were a familiar sight on UK roads. However, it is fair to say that relatively few good examples still exist. This however, represents one such example, which is presented in Arctic White with deep red leather/velour interior. Owned by the vendor for the last two years, unfortunately the history folder, which we are aware was significant has been misplaced. Clearly though inspection of this car confirms it has been a very well cared for example. Some light recommissioning will be carried out prior to the auction and this 944 will also be presented for an MoT test. Offered for sale without reserve this could well prove to be a sound investment.
2005 Porsche 987 Boxster S Transmission: automaticMileage:97702The first generation Boxster (the 986) was introduced in late 1996 and was powered by a 2.5 litre flat six-cylinder engine, many believe the introduction of the Boxster helped save Porsche from acquisition. It was Porsche's first water-cooled, non-front engine sports car as the Boxster is mid-engine, while the 911 has a rear engine. This layout provided a low centre of gravity, near perfect weight distribution and good handling. In 2000, the new Boxster S variant was introduced with a larger 3.2 litre engine and in 2003, styling and engine output was upgraded on both variants. With prices rising the later 3.2 litre S models with manual gearboxes are becoming increasingly sought-after.This example is presented in silver with a black leather interior and black electrically operated hood. It comes with electric windows, stereo, Tiptronic transmission and it also comes with a nice history which includes all its Porsche manuals and booklets. It has a fully stamped service book which is up to date and shows the car has been well looked after by Porsche specialists on a regular basis, with its current MoT test certificate valid until 19th July 2023. Offered without reserve, this represents a great opportunity for some fun on the roads €“ legally of course!
1989 Volkswagen Golf Mk. I Clipper Cabriolet Transmission: manualMileage:103375In May 1974, Volkswagen presented the first generation Golf as a modern front-wheel drive, long-range replacement for the Volkswagen Beetle. Later Golf variations included the Golf GTI 'hot hatch' introduced in June 1976, a diesel powered version from September 1976, the Jetta notchback saloon in October 1979 and from the end of 1979 the Golf cabriolet built by Karmann. September 1983 saw the introduction of the second generation Volkswagen Golf, the Mk. II, that grew slightly in terms of wheelbase, exterior and interior dimensions while retaining, in a more rounded form, the Mk. I's overall look. There was not a Golf Mk. II based cabriolet model, instead, the Mk. I cabriolet was continued over the Mk. II's entire production run. Karmann, in Osnabrück, Germany, was until 2009 the largest independent motor vehicle manufacturing company in Germany. For more than a century, they have undertaken various roles, from design to production and assembly of components for various automobile manufacturers including Chrysler, Porsche and the Volkswagen Group.Originally registered on 24th May 1989 this Volkswagen is painted white with a grey cloth interior and a black roof. Presenting in good all round condition this Golf Mk. I Cabriolet, has had work carried out within the last 12 months including the fitment of a new alternator, fuel pump and starter motor. The carburettor has been refurbished, a new cambelt has been fitted as has a new roof. This is a very tidy example that can be used and enjoyed immediately. These very stylish cabriolets offer retro looks, wind in your hair motoring and German reliability. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 21st April 2024.
1985 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Transmission: manualMileage:124486The 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 is a classic sports car that was produced from 1984 to 1989. It is a rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive vehicle with a 3.2-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine that produces 217 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. The Carrera 3.2 is available in coupe, cabriolet, and Targa body styles, and it features a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. Some notable features of the 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 include its iconic styling, excellent handling, and precise steering. It also has a comfortable and well-appointed interior with supportive seats and high-quality materials. A well-maintained Carrera 3.2 can provide a thrilling driving experience and hold its value well as a classic sports car. This fabulous example is presented in Guards Red with black leather interior both of which are in excellent condition throughout. It comes with its original book pack with a service book containing 17 stamps, drivers manual plus a large folder of historical invoices, electric windows, CD player, Bluetooth, height adjustable driver's and passenger seat, folding rear seats and electric sunroof. This car has recently undergone a major service including valve clearances, four rebuilt brake calipers and new brake fluid. An inspection of the complete exhaust system was carried out which included the inspection of heat exchangers and replacement of exhaust gaskets, new gear lever bushes, nuts, studs, a thorough clean of the underside of the car and carry out rust proofing and Waxoyl treatment. The fastidious previous owner also renewed various parts over the last few years which have included bumper pads, bumper bellows, rubber seals, number plate lights, rear lights, bonnet gas struts, engine oil seals, all brake pipes and hoses, brake pads and discs on all four corners, front and rear brake disc back plates, four wheel bearings, all front and rear suspension bushes including rear anti roll bar inner and outer bushes with covers, rear ARB drop links, 930 Turbo steering arm upgrade and many more €¦ The car also had new Bilstein club sport suspension fitted and freshly rebuilt 915 five-speed gearbox with factory short shift, also remote central locking with new CAT 1 alarm system/immobilizer. This 911 really is in superb condition and does need to be seen to be fully appreciated.Interested parties should note that contrary to what is written in the catalogue and what is on our website, the engine has not had a top end rebuild.
1984 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit Transmission: automaticMileage:47487The Silver Spirit was unveiled in October 1980 as a replacement for the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. Direct comparison, however, showed only small differences. The new models had slightly grown in length and width; height had been cut a little, although the styling was more modern than that of its predecessor. The interior was dominated by the expected combination of fine wood and sumptuous leather. The Silver Spirit was similar mechanically to the Silver Shadow, benefiting from the superb Rolls-Royce 6,750cc, V8 and sharing many mechanical characteristics of the model it replaced. The instruments were supplemented by digital units which gave such information as the time, elapsed driving time and external temperature and were the first Rolls-Royce to be fitted with a retractable Spirit of Ecstasy. This impressive Rolls-Royce was ordered by franchised dealer Dutton-Forshaw as their demonstrator vehicle. It was registered by them in December 1984 and presents both stylishly and subtlety in special order Ice Green coachwork with a beige leather interior. This look is enhanced with contrasting carpets, gold coachlines and whitewall tyres. The car was purchased by its late owner in 2010. He was a dedicated car enthusiast and owned vehicles by some of the world's most famous marques including Aston Martin, Porsche and Maserati but we are informed that his favourite by far was this Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit which was used for 'high days and holidays'. We are also informed that during his tenure the servicing for the car was done in house at his company. The cars bodywork and interior trim are both in tremendous condition as is the woodwork which appears unmarked. The carpets are unworn, and the car is complemented with a full set of sheepskin over rugs and a complete and unused toolkit. The boot area is unmarked and the engine bay is extremely clean and tidy. This 'time warp' Rolls-Royce is offered to auction with an impressive file of paperwork which includes factory specification and build sheets, an original service book with 15 dealer stamps, an original owner's handbook pack, 28 previous MoT test certificates, a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until February 2024. This car has only become available owing to the death of the owner and is offered without reserve.
1976 Lamborghini Urraco P300 Transmission: manualMileage:63515In accordance with their usual practice of naming their cars after fighting bulls, it was fitting that this new, junior, V8 Lamborghini was named 'Urraco' which approximately translates as 'little bull'. Its 2+2 configuration hinted at Lamborghini's grand touring roots and its distinctive styling by Gandini displays a family likeness to the fabulous Countach. The V8 engine, however, was a departure from the traditional V12 and may have been indicative of Lamborghini's decision to have a look at a different market where the Porsche 911 and Ferrari Dino 246 currently reigned supreme. The most developed Urraco was the P300, of which approximately 205 were made between 1975 and 1979. The P300's engine had a larger stroke than the P250, upping displacement to 2,996cc and providing 265bhp at 7,800rpm. The P300's is a considerable step up from the P250 with its chain driven, quad cam engine proving both more powerful and robust, as well as the addition of a brake servo ensuring the car's stopping ability matched its improved performance.First registered on 1st May 1976, this stunning stainless steel bumpered example presents beautifully in its metallic grey paintwork with tan interior. Sitting on a set of incredibly rare, new old stock Campagnolo magnesium wheels, this car is unusual in that the wheel's centre caps are clipped in, a feature not possible when these types of wheels have been refurbished, (the centre caps are then usually glued back in). Details like this are a clue as to the quality of the car. Maintained for some time by the very well reputed Lamborghini specialists Colin Clarke Engineering, the car has had very light use by the vendor who has been keen to maintain its beautiful condition. Anything that the car has required has been done by Colin Clarke Engineering and the vendor reports the car to run and drive extremely well. An example of this is that Colin Clarke removed the engine and rebuilt the gearbox as well as checking the clutch in September 2021 at a cost of £10,146. The original four spoke steering wheel remains and the interior was re-upholstered to a high standard in tan leather, in 2014, at a cost of £6,600. Complementing the new interior, the then owner is reported to have had the car repainted at around the same time. All the relevant badges and stainless steel trim are present, even the original Blaupunkt radio cassette player is in situ, making this a rare, arguably concours condition example of these handsome 1970's Italian sportscars.Supplied with a V5C registration document and file of receipts amongst other information. With only three former keepers in the UK since its registration in the UK in 1990, this excellent example is ready to be shown off and hold its own at any prestigious event as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the esteemed Lamborghini brand.

2004 Porsche 911 / 996 Carrera 4S Transmission: automaticMileage:122977The Porsche 911/996 Carrera 4S is fast becoming one of the most desirable 996 models, given its wide turbo body looks and still remaining very affordable in the modern classic world. It offers a thrilling driving experience and is powered by 3.6 litre flat-six engine, producing a highly respectable 316bhp. This engine was paired to either a six-speed manual transmission or an optional five-speed Tiptronic automatic. The car was also fitted with an all-wheel drive system, giving it excellent traction and handling in any conditions. The 996 Carrera 4S has a top speed of 174mph and a 0-60 time of just 4.8 seconds, making it one of the fastest cars in its class. This example was optioned from new with the Tiptronic gearbox, making it a fine package for long distance cruising, or city commuting. The car has a comprehensive service history, with 12 stamps in the service book, all being from Porsche main agents until 2012 at 91,049 miles. Following that, the servicing has been carried out by Porsche specialists JMG Porsche and Tower Porsche, with one more visit to Porsche Mid Sussex in 2016 at 108,952 miles. The most recent service was carried out by Tower Porsche in March 2023 at 122,576 miles. The car presents in Arctic Silver, which still looks in great condition. The interior also looks excellent with the seat bolsters still in very good shape and the overall impression is of a car which has been in caring ownership throughout its life. Our vendor had a very detailed inspection carried out prior to purchasing the car in November 2021, which can be viewed upon request as a PDF or indeed read through it in the history file. Our vendor also went to the trouble of fitting a Pioneer SPH-DA230DAB 7 € touch screen entertainment system, which offers Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth and DAB radio, bringing the car up to modern day standards. The car was also fitted with upgraded Alpine speakers, which are an improvement over the ageing original items.
1970 Porsche 911 E Transmission: manualMileage:87948The Porsche 911 E is considered by many to be one of the quintessential air-cooled Porsche 911 experience's and is a favourite among enthusiasts. The 911 E was powered by a 2,195cc flat-six engine for model years 1970-1971, which produced an impressive 153bhp. It is paired to a five-speed manual transmission, giving it an exhilarating driving experience. The exterior of the 911 E features a classic and elegant design, reminiscent of the earliest short wheelbase 911's, but with a slightly lengthened wheelbase, to improve handling and safety. Few cars provide such a visceral driving experience as an air-cooled Porsche 911, these early cars are always popular, and this particular example could be perfect for using as it is or taking to the next level. The present owner purchased this car in 2017 as a project which needed to be finished. It had already been painted in this fetching shade of Bahama Yellow but was missing various interior and trim pieces which our vendor has managed to locate and get the car to the condition it is in today. Once the car was complete, it was then taken to a renown Porsche specialist by the name of Dave Broughton, who he describes as 'nothing short of a genius', who managed to get the car running as it should. The overall condition of the car is very presentable and it could certainly be enjoyed at any Porsche 75th anniversary celebrations this year where it is sure to be admired. We are informed the car starts and runs well, and that it drives just as good as it looks. The car is provided with a V5C registration and if you are looking for an early air-cooled 911 to use and enjoy this summer, this car will tick all the boxes. It is being offered with a very sensible estimate and proposes huge potential for the next chapter of its life.
1990 Porsche 928 S4 Transmission: automaticMileage:124287The Porsche 928 burst onto the scene in 1978 and became the first (and still only) sports car to win European car of the year award. The 928 was continually developed until reaching the S4 in 1987, which would stay in production until 1991. The 928 S4 is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 engine, producing 316bhp and 317 lb-ft of torque, which provides effortless acceleration and a top speed of 165mph. The 928 S4 was also one of the most technologically advanced cars of its time, with features such as ABS, airbags, and an advanced suspension system. Its timeless design, with its low profile and smooth lines, has aged exceedingly well and is still highly regarded by car enthusiasts across the globe. This particular example began its life in Japan, which is far from a bad thing. Many will know that the cars being imported from Japan tend to find themselves in far better condition than their UK delivered siblings, due to the lack of salt on Japanese roads and their highly scrutinous MoT requirements. This car is no exception, the Slate Grey metallic paintwork still presents in superb order and the Linen leather interior is also in exceptional order. The odometer reading of 124,287km would translate to around 76,000 miles and the condition could easily pass as being far lower. The wheels look to still be in their factory finish too. There is some evidence of servicing during the cars time in Japan, however without being an expert in the Japanese language, it is rather hard to translate. Since the cars arrival in the UK in 2016, it has been maintained properly, with evidence of four services in that time, including a £3,862 invoice in 2021 for work on a big engine overhaul including the all important cambelt service. The car comes to auction with a valid MoT until 2nd May 2024.Our vendor has owned this car as part of his private collection and has now decided he needs to free up a space in his garage. The car will be missed, but since it hasn't been getting as much use as intended, he has decided it is time to let someone else enjoy this excellent 928. What better way to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Porsche this year than with one of the models which helped to save the company?
2018 Porsche 356 Speedster Homage Transmission: manualMileage:86799The first-generation Boxster (the 986) was introduced in late 1996 and was powered by a 2.5 litre flat, six-cylinder engine. Harm Lagaay's design, inspired by the 356 Speedster and 550 Spyder, stimulated a commercial turnaround for Porsche. Many believe the introduction of the Boxster helped save Porsche from acquisition. It was Porsche's first water-cooled, non-front engine sports car as the Boxster is mid-engine, while in the 911, rear-engine. This layout provided a low centre of gravity, near-perfect weight distribution and good handling. In 2000, the new Boxster S variant was introduced with a larger 3.2 litre engine and the base model received a more powerful 2.7 litre engine. In 2003, styling and engine output was upgraded on both variants. Production of the 986 began at the former Porsche 928 facility in Stuttgart, Germany in 1996. The Boxster was Porsche's biggest volume seller from its introduction in 1996 until the company introduced the Cayenne sport utility vehicle in 2003.For those looking for a unique and very individual driving experience then look no further. This one-off Porsche Iconic Autobody 386 Speedster Homage boasts the classic looks of yesteryear and features modern running gear. It is not just a car that is truly beautiful to look at, but it is excellent to drive and has the benefit of reliability. Designed and built by Brian Hale of DNA Automotive, with a string of top-quality Ferrari replicas and Aston Martin recreations to his name. Bespoke coach built on the platform of a Porsche Boxster 2.7 986 it is a modern drivetrain masterpiece and features the retro styling found in the 1950s and 60s. Being based on a Boxster it is a seriously fun car to drive. The current owner has adored this special car, only taking it out on sunny days and covering little mileage for the last 3 years. In his ownership, he added a brand-new red leather interior which joins a great specification consisting of heated seats, Pioneer Sat Nav, Bluetooth, Apple Car Play, Air-Con and LED driving lamps. The Boxster used, is a low-owner, full Porsche history example which now has a total of 86799 miles. This car looks fantastic and is a real head turner.
2003 Porsche 996 Turbo Transmission: automaticMileage:63250The 996 model is a superb car; quick, reliable, well made and the birth of the water-cooled Porsche 911. With a wide range of models on offer the most iconic is, of course, the Turbo. Featuring four-wheel drive and a 3.6 litre intercooled engine, derived from the 1998 Le Mans winning GT-1 car, pushing out 420bhp and hitting 60mph in a whisker over four seconds, this is genuine supercar territory. The 996 was seen as a more relaxed and usable 911; however, in Turbo guise, the driver would get the best of both worlds; a luxury leather interior with every creature comfort combined with the ability to drop the hammer and reach a top speed of a claimed 190mph. The 996 Turbo was available with either a six-speed manual or a five-speed Tiptronic transmission with revised styling and a wider stance than the naturally aspirated 996 Carreras along with new bi-Xenon headlamps. The Turbo also came with Variocam Plus as well as stability management - a necessity with over 400bhp under your right foot.Performance can be described as ballistic when behind the wheel of a turbo-charged Porsche. However, due to the modern 911 being such a capable daily driver, mileage on early cars can swiftly reach into six figures, resulting in lower mileage models becoming quite the find for any collector or enthusiast.Showing just a little over 63,000 miles on the odometer, this example is presented in grey coachwork with a black leather trim and has clearly had a pampered life. This car has been well maintained and regularly serviced. Accompanying the car is a sizeable history, documenting the low mileage and the vendors ownership, various old MoT test certificates, the V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until February 2024. This is a superb example of an ever appreciating 911 in such fabulous condition that viewing is highly recommended.
1969 Porsche 911T Transmission: manualMileage:53930The 1969 Porsche 911T was a high-performance sports car that was produced between 1963 and 1973. The 911T was part of the first generation of the Porsche 911 series and was designed to be a more affordable entry-level model. The 1969 model year saw some notable changes to the 911T, including an increased displacement engine, which improved the car's performance. The 911T was known for its sleek and sporty design, exceptional handling, and impressive speed. This well-presented example, delivered new to the USA, is offered in the appealing colour combination of Silver over a tan interior. Imported from Florida this matching numbers example benefitted from comprehensive bodywork in 2013 which included new sills at a cost of £15,000. This was followed in 2018 by a full engine rebuild at a cost of £12,000.The car is in good order throughout and features original chromed steel wheels. The file includes a V5C registration document a Porsche certificate of authenticity and an Mot test certificate valid until May 2024. The Porsche 911T remains a highly sought after classic car prized for its timeless style and excellent performance. This stunning example is realistically estimated and is likely to create a lot of interest.

Superb one owner GT3 Touring with the manual gearbox, 723 miles from new and finished in Shark Blue. For over 20 years, Porsche’s GT3 has cemented its legend within the 911 dynasty, one which enhances the 911’s natural penchant for performance with additional flair and emotion. Powered by a high-revving, naturally aspirated flat-six linked to the rear wheels by – ideally - a manual gearbox, the GT3 is the purist’s 911.In February 2021, Porsche introduced the GT3 version of the eighth-generation 911, the 992. The numbers were very impressive; 3,996cc, 24v, naturally aspirated flat-six, 503bhp @ 8,400rpm, 347lb/ft @ 6,100rpm, 6-speed manual gearbox, rear-wheel drive, 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds, 199mph and 22mpg, however, it’s not simply numbers that separate it from its predecessor, the much revered 991. A new front suspension design utilised a double wishbone set-up rather than MacPherson struts and rose-joints allowing Porsche’s engineers to increase camber stiffness, and give the front tyres a far more consistent surface contact patch. In order to maximise the benefit of the performance from the double-wishbone set-up at the front, the multi-link rear suspension was also totally revised. Weight was saved in a number of areas including lightweight glass, new front wheels, new rear fascia, stainless exhaust and a carbon rear lid resulting in the new car weighing the same as the 991 GT3 even though it's physically larger. In 2017 the ‘Touring Package’ was introduced giving a new focus to the GT3’s capabilities. It's brief, to refine the magic of the Motorsport department and make this 911 more suited to the road. Still retaining the winged GT3’s explosive 500bhp engine, the Touring’s more subtle styling proved captivating. The most obvious difference is the omission of the standard car's distinctive swan-neck fixed rear wing replaced by an automatically extending rear spoiler which generates downforce at high speeds whilst maintaining the classic 'flatback' 911 profile. In the case of the 992 GT3 there are only a few aesthetic details that distinguish the Touring from its be-winged sibling including painted front bumper inserts, aluminium window trim (rather than black anodised) and more interior surfaces trimmed in perforated leather and brushed aluminium.Offered here is, essentially, a brand new 992 GT3 Touring offered from its first and only owner and finished in Shark Blue with a black extended leather/Alcantara interior. At the time of cataloguing just 723 miles had been covered from new, and this particular example is fitted with the desirable manual gearbox. On offer from a diligent 34-year ownership, this highly-original, unrestored example has covered a fully documented 74,000 miles. The Giorgetto Giugiaro-styled ‘Esprit’ was Colin Chapman's first serious attempt at building a supercar capable of taking on the likes of Porsche and Ferrari and was an early example of Giugiaro's polygonal 'folded paper' designs. First unveiled as a concept car at the Turin Motor Show in 1972, it would be another four years before customers took delivery of the first cars, however slow initial sales received a considerable publicity boost with the car's underwater exploits in the 1977 James Bond film ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’.The Turbo version was first seen in the distinctively liveried, 1980s 'Essex Esprit', a special-edition model named for its association with Essex Petroleum, a major sponsor of the Lotus F1 team at the time. Its engine, known as the ‘Type 910’, retained the 2.2-litre capacity of the naturally aspirated car but utilised a dry-sump arrangement and generated some 210bhp. 1981 saw the debut of Esprit Series 3 and, at that point, the Turbo became a regular production car powered by a wet-sump 2.2-litre 'Type 912' engine which generated similar power and torque figures to its dry-sump predecessor. The interior trim was revised which, when combined with changes to the body moulds, resulted in more headroom and an enlarged footwell. The Turbo Esprit retained the aerodynamic body kit of the Essex cars and featured prominent 'Turbo Esprit' decals on the nose and sides, plus bespoke 15'' BBS alloy wheels.Although it looked every inch the futuristic Italian-styled supercar both inside and out, the Esprit remained true to Lotus' philosophy of building lightweight cars with small-capacity engines and motorsport-inspired handling and the Turbo versions of the S3 are particularly sought after today. The car presented here is a 1985 Lotus Esprit Turbo (Series 3) which has been owned and loved by our vendor since 1989. Quite remarkable – and the car is too. With a fully verifiable 74,000 miles, this car is in exceptional mechanical health, unrestored and the recipient of huge servicing expenditure over its entire lifetime and is still accompanied by its original book pack, service/maintenance booklets and auxiliary Lotus leaflets (see images). It was supplied new on the 26th September 1985 through Mann Egerton & Co. Ltd. of 14 Berkeley Street, London and, according to the huge accompanying history file, the original owner was a Mr D.H Brierton of Berkshire, who was apparently a friend of Colin Chapman and who requested that his new Lotus to be supplied without the ‘1980s flamboyant ‘Turbo’ decals and simply presented in its striking Arctic White paintwork.Under this original ownership (1985-1988) it was routinely serviced back at Lotus Cars Service Department and/or Mann Egerton, up to 25,500 miles. The car then passed quite quickly through two more London-based owners, who continued the servicing relationship with Mann Egerton. Our vendor then acquired the Lotus in April 1989 as a company car (later buying off his company as his own in the October). This was a perfect match; he loved it and went onto cherish it until now. The history file tells a story of absolute devotion to ensure a car is kept as well as possible. In late 1989 and at 41,841 miles, he employed the expert services of Peter Day of Daytune in Cambridge, the Lotus-appointed classic dealer and servicing specialists. Daytune, and latterly just Peter Day, would look after this car for the next 25 years, and when this was no longer possible, ‘Moorland Jones’, another Lotus specialist, took over the duties before ‘GST Performance’ of Newmarket, run by expert Gerald Turner (formally of Day Tune), picked up the mantle. You get the idea – dedication. The old-fashioned servicing (and service) lavished on this car have been extraordinary, a proper and genuine trust built up over decades - it would often just get collected by the specialists, receive whatever attention was required, and then get taken back to the vendor’s underground garage in Central London. Gerald Turner of GST Performance, an old-school Lotus engineer in every good way, described to our vendor this car as ‘one of the best’ he’s known, with all the suspension componentry still being all-original Lotus. Some of the highlights of this servicing include, in 2001, at 68,000 miles, a complete (precautionary) engine rebuild done by Peter Day, costing £11,180.72 and in December 2022, at 73,769 miles, a full service (including cambelt and all auxiliary items) and four new tyres costing £5,611.99.If originality, mechanical health and a dedication to maintenance are factors you look for in a classic sports car - and why not - this remarkable Lotus warrants very close inspection and is ready to be enjoyed by its next loyal owner. You will not find better.SpecificationMake: LOTUSModel: ESPRIT TURBO S3Year: 1989Chassis Number: SCC082910FHD12159Registration Number: C703 BYJTransmission: Manual Engine Number: CD910850622520 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 73753 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Blue Click here for more details and images
Rarely do these beautiful and well-engineered R107 Roadsters come to market in such lovely condition. It’s hard to believe that the R107 Mercedes SL is now over 50 years old, yet in 1971 this new chapter in the history of the SL sports car began. It was the first SL with a V8 engine, it had a thoroughly modern new design. It was a self-confident motor car; sporty yet luxurious and quick yet comfortable. In many ways it was, and remains, the perfect convertible. The new SL featured a number of safety-related technical innovations such as defined crumple zones, high-strength steels in the A-pillars, a windscreen frame with bonded glass, padded surfaces and deformable elements in the interior. From March 1980, ABS was available and from January 1982, a driver’s airbag and belt tensioners. The ultimate engine choice in Europe was to be found with the all-alloy, overhead-camshaft V8 500 SL of 1980, with 240bhp available (bearing in mind a Porsche 911 offered a ‘mere’ 204bhp at the time). Over time, the interiors became even more luxurious, the car’s weight was reduced with new alloy bonnets and boot lids and the suspension and brakes continued to be developed until it was replaced by the R129 in 1989. The 'R107' SL was a classic almost as soon as it ended its 18-year production run and today they make perfectly usable daily drivers, especially when, as with this example, they come with a factory hardtop. The 500 SL on offer here dates from early 1985 and is splendidly finished in Blue Black Metallic with Mexican Hat alloys and a lovely light grey interior in leather and MB-Tex. It's been enjoyed by just four former keepers and has covered a recorded 78,584 miles. The specification is extensive, including a top-tint windscreen, cruise control, ABS, heated seats, air conditioning, central-locking and the familiar Mercedes fire extinguisher. With attention to detail and originality at the forefront of the current owner’s mind, it should be noted that an original tool roll remains in place alongside an unused first aid kit. Also accompanying the car is an interesting history file with associated service paperwork, previous MOT history and the car will have a fresh MOT prior to our sale. It's also accompanied by indoor and outdoor covers, a hardtop stand and a set of later Mercedes alloys should you wish to update the look of this beautiful 500SL. With outstanding paintwork, a superb interior, a newly fitted hood and a colour-matched hardtop, this is a simply exceptional example of these timeless roadsters and will reward any inspection. Lovely manual gearbox C2 from 26-years ownership in fabulous condition and benefitting from an exceptional service history. The 993 was the final generation of the air-cooled 911, and as such will always have a special place in the affections of Porsche enthusiasts. It's also widely said to be the last of the 911s that were built whilst engineering integrity overruled accounting pressures at Porsche. 20 years on, it still looks modern - a truly timeless design. It was introduced in the autumn of 1994 and was claimed to be 80% new with more curvaceous bodywork and a number of new panels creating a much smoother and more integrated look, however, importantly, this new style was still every inch a 911 in the traditional manner, with the profiles of the doors and rear quarter windows remaining unchanged from earlier models. The biggest change under the skin of the new 911 - the 933 - was the new multi-link rear suspension, giving greater driver confidence, less road noise and excellent ride quality. Designed to give a level of passive rear-wheel steering (the 'Weissach effect'), thus controlling the way the suspension behaved under cornering, braking and acceleration, it transformed the 911. It was also the first 911 to be equipped with power steering and an advanced ABS system. Utilising the same 3.6-litre engine as the 964, mated to a development of the worthy G50 gearbox, but now with six forward gears or the smooth Tiptronic automatic gearbox, the 993 from 1995 produced 272bhp enabling a top speed of over 150mph and acceleration to match.Silverstone Auctions are proud to offer this beautiful Carrera 2 that has a service record which is second to none with 19 stamps in the book with Official Porsche Dealers Reading (AFN) and Swindon. The story begins, however, when our vendor purchased the Porsche in July 1997 from Porsche Zentrum in Dusseldorf whilst working in Germany. A few months later, in September 1997, he returned to the UK bringing the Porsche with him consequently ensuring a continuity of maintenance that’s truly impressive over his 26 years of ownership.Finished in Polar Silver Metallic, it's fitted with the optional premium softer black leather interior which has been treated twice annually since 1997 and still looks perfect today. Factory-fitted options included 'Sports' suspension (10mm lower and slightly stiffer), automatic air-conditioning, electric heated and adjustable seats, a limited-slip differential, power steering, a Blaupunkt radio and CD player, onboard computer and 17’’ cup-design alloy wheels. For UK driving, it has twin rear fog lights and adjustable dipped beam.Part of the 911's perennial appeal is the purity of line of the early cars, often compromised by the later addition of protrusions, however, devoid of a sunroof, rear wash wipe and high-level brake light, the top line of this 993 is wind-tunnel perfect. The car's overall condition is exceptional and testament to our owners care and attention. There are a couple of very minor blemishes, commensurate with its 74,983 miles (120,572km) and it still rides on OE-fit Bridgestone Potenzas. The carpets have always had over mats and the interior is immaculate. The original speedometer (supplied with the car) was replaced with a newly manufactured Porsche unit in August 2021 with the mileage showing 115,304km and the new unit now reads 5,268km. It comes with its original Porsche box and the change is documented in the service record. In June 2022, the car toured Europe in a convoy of fellow Porsche enthusiasts and behaved perfectly, covering 2,200 trouble-free miles in two weeks. Subsequently, in August 2022, it was issued with a fresh MOT Certificate indicating 'no advisories'. Garaged and cosseted all of its life, this is a super example of the last of the air cooled 911s in exactly the specification you would want and, short of going back onto its German plate, it's about as original as you could hope to find.SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 911 (993)Year: 1995Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ99ZSS314488Registration Number: M278 UDPTransmission: ManualEngine Number: M6405-635 Drive Side: Left-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 121000 KMMake: LHDClick here for more details and images
A superbly original example, on offer from 33-years ownership, just 42,000 miles and in an enviably wholesome condition; a rare find indeed. The 3.2 Carrera is revered as the ultimate development of the original 911 that first appeared in 1963. These final cars (before being replaced by the more complicated 964) were the most flexible and usable of Butzi Porsche's original design. Launched in 1984 and reviving the ‘Carrera' name for the first time since 1977, these were the ultimate 1980s sports cars. The all-alloy, flat-six engine, which had been fuel-injected since 1971, received a final stretch to 3,164cc, giving a torque-rich 231bhp - enough to propel the lithe and slippery coupé to over 150mph, with 0-60mph coming up in 5.6 seconds. Cars built from September 1986 onwards were fitted with the more user-friendly G50 Getrag gearbox, but all 3.2 Carreras feature galvanised bodies, which together with Porsche's legendary build quality, ensure that these classics are long lasting. The car presented here is a C16 (UK-supplied) 1988-model year ('J' Series) example (with the preferred G50 manual 5-speed gearbox) Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 'Sport' (for-the-UK-only Sport model – hence, black lip front spoiler, a rear 'whale tail' rear spoiler, Sports seats - more dished squabs than the basic seats - and Bilstein Sport shock absorbers). On offer from a diligent 33-year ownership, this 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Sport (G50) has covered a fully verifiable 42,000 miles and is in the sort of original condition you now rarely find. It's finished in Grand Prix White, complemented by a blue fabric/leather interior and is a standard factory 'Sport' model with Fuchs alloy wheels, front and rear spoilers, electric pack, sports seats and a sunroof. Our vendor became the car’s second keeper when she bought it in 1990 from AFN Porsche. She has owned numerous sports cars over the last 30 years or so, but has always retained this 911, only using it when at the Family’s country home. It's been truly loyal, and in return, has been lavished with servicing, always garaged and only driven in the summer months. The annual routine sees it being taken off the road in November, garaged during winter, and only pokes its nose out in early April (or a bit later if the weather isn't great) and serviced by a local mechanic ready for use. The condition speaks for itself, it is ‘just right’ in the places where many examples are not; it’s not perfect, there is some patina and evidence of use, but it is extremely wholesome, (smelling just right, as original classic Porsches do), unrestored and as a mechanically fit as they come. This car has never required any major work due to its regular servicing, low-mileage and garage storage. Rarely have these true classic 1980s 911s lived such a pampered life in the hands of so few owners. Small details like two sets of keys, factory stickers still in situ, a complete Porsche tool-roll, jack and inflation kit, and an original car care kit, all help support this dutiful ownership. As you might expect, it's accompanied by its original book pack, including the service booklet and a large file of invoices for servicing/maintenance. This is a lovely genuine example of one of the most popular and sought-after Porsche models. The only Cerbera Speed 12 built by TVR specifically for road use, the defining example. An opportunity to own an exceptional and unique motor car, fully sanctioned by the marque and coming from diligent enthusiast-ownership.The only Cerbera Speed 12 built by TVR specifically for the road, the defining example and the only remaining factory-built complete carFully prepared by TVR engineers, this road-going GT car is uniquely fitted with the correct, race-bred 7.7-litre 840bhp V12 engine and the final evolution of the race car carbon-fibre/Kevlar bodywork with a flat-floor and powerful aeroOriginally offered for sale directly by TVR boss Peter WheelerWidely featured in the motoring press (see images of EVO magazine article by scrolling through above) and immortalised in the Sony PlayStation game Gran TurismoOne of the rarest and most revered supercars of the last 25 years, a truly special machineIn today’s crazy world of ‘hyper-cars’, with manufacturers continuing to indulge their seemingly irresistible need to build the most rapid cars the world has ever seen, the TVR Cerbera Speed 12 would fit right in, however 20 years ago, the idea of a road car weighing 1,100kg with nearly 900bhp wasn’t so much unprecedented as unhinged.‘Project 7/12’ was originally conceived in the 1990s with the design brief to develop a supercar to rival the McLaren F1 GTR, whilst also producing a true GT road-racer. It debuted at the 1996 Birmingham motor show and, predictably, it caused a sensation. The possibility that it might actually be quicker than the McLaren F1 wasn’t vigorously denied by TVR boss Peter Wheeler though, unlike the F1, the Speed 12 had a development brief that was heavily biased towards a career as a GT1 class endurance racer with the aim of taking it to Le Mans. The 7/12 project tag denoted the proportions of its monster engine, essentially two Cerbera Speed 6 straight-sixes spliced together, utilising a steel block, further developed by TVR’s John Ravenscroft creating a 7.7-litre V12. The story goes that it snapped the input shaft of the 1,000bhp-rated dynamometer and consequently TVR’s engineers were obliged to measure each bank of cylinders separately. This resulted in output figures of 480bhp on each side suggesting a total output of 960bhp, although the figure eventually quoted ‘officially’ by TVR was 800bhp as set up for road use.As a would-be Le Mans GT1 Class entrant, FIA regulations required that the TVR’s mammoth output be pegged back to around 675bhp by the use of air intake restrictors, however, the Speed 12’s competition career was short-lived as, after a few outings in the FIA GT Championship, a sudden rule change to accommodate purpose-built GT1 machines such as the Porsche 911 GT1, and the subsequent withdrawal of the class in other championships, effectively made it obsolete. In late 1999, TVR decided that rather than let their efforts with the Speed 12 go to waste, they would develop a new car to race in the GT2 class of motorsport. Again, with homologation in mind, there was fresh impetus around a road car version - the ultimate TVR would run the full-house 800bhp engine and cost £245,000, and the now-badged ‘Cerbera Speed 12’ was ready in 2000. Its design, which began with the Speed 12 GT, had now evolved over time, and its final style favours the Cerbera, but was essentially a totally separate concept created for racing and is dramatically unique. Deposits for the new road car began to pile up, and the new race car was rolled out too, where it would go on to win several races from 2000 to 2002, the best-known example perhaps being the Scania-sponsored Cerbera Speed 12 race car.Unexpectedly, the road car’s future came to an abrupt end one night when the Boss, Peter Wheeler, took one of the finished prototypes home for the night and, on his return, declared it too powerful and too wild for the road. Production plans were canned, deposits returned, and the remaining prototypes were broken up for spares to service the race cars. Except for one.In August 2003, TVR shocked the automotive world by advertising for sale a Cerbera Speed 12 with the registration ‘W112 BHG’. At that point, a complete car didn’t actually exist so with the racing program now consigned to history, TVR set about creating a true best-of-breed road-going Cerbera Speed 12, putting all their engineering knowledge into it.The completed road car was eventually ready by 2005, having taken a team of three race engineers (headed by Jonny Greenwood) over two years to build and test, piece-by-piece. Rightly, the engine utilised was the 7.7-litre, ‘bucket-head’ V12 – the last example of its type-originally developed by TVR for racing. The team utilised the best components from the race development program, with the express design criteria that W112 BHG should be road-legal. Many new items were utilised, such as the gearbox, transmission and brakes, and the race car influence was obvious in the air-jacks and the final evolution of the carbon-fibre/Kevlar bodywork from one of the GT racers, with the wind-tunnel developed aerodynamics offering state-of-the art levels of downforce at high speed. This special car obviously had to satisfy Peter Wheeler’s perfectionism ensuring he would be proud to sanction and oversee the sale of it, which he did to an enthusiast that he personally vetted. The new enthusiast-owner later utilised the skills and experience of the original TVR race engineers to further optimise its performance by remapping the engine and replacing many components with uprated items. It now weighs around 1,000kg, whilst producing around 850bhp, and over 900lb/ft of torque. The car was subsequently sold to our vendor in 2010, a true TVR aficionado who sees himself as a custodian of this supremely special machine. Like the previous owner, he sought out the close assistance of Brian Hosfield who was Peter Wheeler’s personal race engineer for 15 years and also managed the Works’ racing team. Post-TVR, Brian went on to set up and run the highly regarded Lawfield Engineering, but has been fully hands-on with W112 BHG for many years. The car was fully re-commissioned in 2014, following its appearance at Goodwood’s Festival of Speed, where it won best in class at the ‘Style et Luxe’ Concours d’Elegance and is now always kept in full race-ready mechanical and cosmetic health. Some additional parts accompany the car including an ECU and exhausts for MOT testing. Our vendor is keen to stress that any new owner is very welcome to stay in touch with him and Brian Hosfield as their combined knowledge, experience and engineering know-how about this 'race-car-for-the-road' might prove invaluable in getting the best out of it, at least in the short-term.Silverstone Auctions are very proud to offer for sale such a car- a unique example of its type from an era of British automotive brilliance. For any serious collector, enthusiast or driver this is a remarkable opportunity to acquire this legendary motor car and, as its owner, you and it would be welcome and much admired at any high-profile motoring event anywhere in the world. A fabulous example of Giorgetto Giugiaro's stylish and timeless design superbly recreated as the ultimate road-going Giulia Sprint GT.During the dark days of ‘lockdown’ in 2020, our intrepid European client, a gentleman of mature years and great taste, decided to contact the UK-based Alfaholics team to establish the likely lead time of one of their amazing GTA-R, 105-Series individual creations. Having established this could take a number of years, he decided to embark on a different route and managed to source in Germany an excellent, partly restored but unfinished 1965 ‘step-front’ Giulia Sprint GT as a donor car for €40,500.He then commissioned highly-respected Alfa specialist, Bas Aalberts of ‘BAS Auto Service’ of Lichtenvoorde in the Netherlands, to set about completely stripping and rebuilding the car to his ultimate road-going specification, very much in the style of Alfaholics’ much admired R-Type, but with a number of bespoke modifications to suit his personal requirements.Parts were sourced from the best specialists around Europe, including Alfaholics in the UK, Porsche spec leather, Tillet seats, and a Springall steering wheel in order to create the ultimate Giulia Sprint finished as he wanted it. All mechanical work was completed by BAS, however, the chassis stiffening, paintwork and the interior trim were outsourced to local Dutch specialists. The car was refinished in its original Bluette (AR506) with a full blue Porsche leather interior and looks extremely smart in the metal, totally underplaying the fantastic performance available from the freshly-built, bespoke 2,000cc Alfa 155 Twin-Spark engine. This special unit is on mappable fuel-injection with Jenvey ‘Heritage’ throttle bodies, very similar to the specification of the Alfaholics’ unit in their GTA-R, and generates 210bhp which, in a car weighing only 930kg, offers truly outstanding performance. All invoices for the build are included in the comprehensive history file and, when totalled, suggest that the overall build cost will have been close to €200,000, however, the quality of the workmanship and attention to detail can clearly be seen in our images. This project took more than a year to complete and the sparkling little Alfa was handed over to its excited owner in September 2021. He was totally delighted and set about the running-in process with care, prior to trailering it to Goodwood for a few enthusiastic laps which were recorded on video for posterity. The car has been lightly used since its completion and has covered only 3,700km in that time. The Alfa 105-Series has a worldwide following and we are delighted to be able to offer this carefully considered and superbly presented, bespoke 2-litre Giulia Sprint GT at a very tempting guide when you consider the original build outlay and the likely cost (when you can get one) of an equivalent Alfaholics R-Type. The car presents beautifully, drives extremely well and we welcome and encourage you to come along to our sale and inspect this delightful little Giula Sprint for yourselves. One for the true Alfa connoisseur. Please note, if the car is registered in the UK, the buyer will be responsible for completing a NOVA declaration within 14 days and paying the import VAT at 5% on the hammer price plus buyer's premium. We encourage buyers outside of the UK to confirm any local tax, VAT or duty that may be payable upon purchase.SpecificationMake: ALFA ROMEOModel: GIULIA SPRINT GTYear: 1965Chassis Number: 616553Registration Number: UNREGISTEREDTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Left-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 4000 KMMake: LHDClick here for more details and images
