I am interested in distortion. Through loose line work and flattened figures and shapes I create an abstracted representation of the world. In doing so I create a pathway to process the complexities of the human condition. I wonder about how the imagination processes experience, memory and shape into visual form. By taking a sideways look at life I challenge the viewer to question what we see as reality.

She spent two years with a Chinese tutor, working in particular on traditional ink and watercolour painting techniques. This disciplined and formal style of painting enriched her art with an exciting new perspective. She has a fascination for the colours and motifs in traditional Chinese and Japanese watercolours. Further to her experience in China she has completed the Creative Visionary Program (2018) with artist Nicholas Wilton. This course enabled Ruth to take her work and practice to a higher level. She now works in a more inquiring and intuitive manner. Ruth has a full time painting practice based at her studio in the south of France. She works on paper, wood board and canvas, using acrylic, watercolour, oil pastels and ink.   Education 1987-1992, Bachelors degree in Classics and Spanish Literature Trinity College Dublin 2009-2011 Private tutor in Chinese painting in Shanghai 2018 Completed The Creative Visionary Program with Nicholas Wilton (California)   Exhibitions   2019 art3f Toulouse, 2019 Art Salon Balma, Toulouse, 2020 Art Exhibition Albi, France.   About the postcard artworks   These postcard paintings are a small, but true representation of my current series which explores my fascination for Asian porcelain and also the use of space and a sense of calm in the traditional painting compositions of Chinese art. I use ink on paper collage elements in my work to add a layered and multi-textured finish to my work, which is as important to me as the subject matter or composition. I am influenced by Asian calligraphy and line which is evident in the collage elements. I try to use complex and multilayered methods to produce work that looks simple, spacious, unfussy and calm.

Michael Boffey Sacred Heart Study, 2021 Silver Gelatin on Paper Signed on verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) About Michael Boffey was born in Liverpool. Education He trained at Loughborough College of Art and Design (BA Hons 1994) and De Montfort University (MA with Distinction 1997). Exhibitions He has participated in exhibitions at Charlie Smith Gallery, Shoreditch, London, Victoria House, Bloomsbury Square, London, The Lion and Lamb Gallery, London, The Royal College of Art, and Cable Street Studios and Gallery, London   About the postcard artworks According to psychopathologists people's abiding tendency is to avoid confronting loss. Instead, they cherish it by refusing change and subject the relics that remain to endless emotional ransacking as a continuation of their own withdrawal. Imaged in the photographic paintings of Michael Boffey, remnants, here in the form of cut flowers, vases, clocks and other domestic and ornamental paraphernalia are not superfluities then. These works with their faded fancies, have been transformed through various nominal and procedural processes, both gentle and violent, to allow a meditation on reminiscence. The playing fields of memory contain a superabundance of richly complex accounts, sometimes embellished and sometimes faded. Apparently, nostalgia is a very bad thing, but despite benign advice about not looking back, we have little idea of what our world will be like in the future. It seems that coping with the fears and pleasures of now and with those of tomorrow does necessitate acknowledgement of a past. - Jean Taylor

They are all Japanese woodcut prints, printed with watercolour. I hope the imagery used can be seen as little icons: butterfly, buds, emerging head and small birch trees I have enjoyed making them .Simple as they appear they are all cut from wood with gouges and chisels and then printed by hand from watercolour brushed on the multiple blocks used to build up the layers. Each is a unique single print which I have carefully wrapped and pasted around the post cards.

Alayne Spafford Down Down Collage, Acrylic and Oil on Paper Signed on verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) The search for balance is fundamental in the art of Alayne Spafford. The challenge in her work is to reconcile a natural tendency to organize and polish with a strong desire to reject those principles in favour of chaos and disorder. Evidence of this can be seen in both the process and finished product of her work. Although the initial foundation of base colour is applied rather spontaneously and with limited self-censorship, the subsequent layering of colour clearly demonstrates a strong influence of the conscious mind. During this process shapes and marks are added and manipulated in order to build a complex yet intuitive order. As such, the artist's work mirrors her internal struggle to find balance between the opposing but complementary aspects of her nature. Alayne Spafford received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with honours from the University of Saskatchewan. After studying textiles at Concordia University and the Centre de Metier d'Art en Construction Textile in Montreal, she worked for many years in the costume department of Cirque du Soleil. Now residing in Edmonton, Alberta, Alayne focuses on painting full time. In 2013 Alayne collaborated to form Burn Design Collective, an art technique created with shou-sugi-ban (burnt cedar). As a result, her images are inviting, colourful, and honest. Without any great philosophical mission, she is free to play with the drama and joy of the everyday. She breaks her subjects down into vibrant segments, into moments we have all experienced, and which she has captured forever in paint. Deborah's unique and feminine take on contemporary art is best described by the esteemed art critic Estelle Lovatt FRSA: "America has Lichtenstein, we have Azzopardi!" The respect she has gained in publishing reflects the honesty and innocence of her intentions. The viewer is allowed to ponder, without preconceptions, the moments she represents. Her paintings and Limited Editions celebrate the comedy of turbulent relationships, seductions, the fantasies and worries of us all. To possess a piece of her work is to embrace the qualities that make us human, to be captivated by her palette of colour.   Education   Life!   Exhibitions   The exhibition list is vast!   Gallery Representation   The Cynthia Corbett Gallery Also: Fine art publisher, Felix Rosenstiel`s Widow and Son. About the postcard artworks Title: 'Last Night....' It was a memorable and fun evening, full of emotion and possibly passion. This is a moment in the twilight hour.

Liberty Blake 98k Collage on Paper Signed on verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) Born in England in 1968, Liberty grew up in an alternative, arts-centric environment that encouraged self-expression and creativity. She attended The Looking Glass School, a small experimental school that fostered arts and the environment. This formed the beginning of her love for art, outdoor adventure, and the natural world.
In 1997 she moved to Utah, with her partner and son, where she co-ran the 'Art Shack' at Sundance, teaching, exhibiting, and doing graphic design for the resort. It was during this time that she made her first wilderness-inspired abstract collages.
In 2007 she participated in the "337 Project" in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she created the first of many large-scale 'wall collages.' The most recent of these is the collaborative 'Work in Progress Mural Project,' a 60ft collaged mural, comprised of stencil portraits of women made by members of the community in workshops that she runs with her mother and fellow artist, Jann Haworth.
Liberty lives and works in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her abstract collages are a document of the wild natural places and neglected urban environments of the American West. She has shown extensively in Utah, in group and solo shows, and was previously represented by The Phillips Gallery and Modern West Gallery in Salt Lake City. Her work is housed in private collections across the United States, Europe, and Canada. Her current body of work explores the impact of wildfires, their increasing severity, and growing threat. He was 16 at the time and very excited to visit the streetwear stores in the West End. I always collect paper bags for collage and I amassed a good collection during this trip, thanks to my son! I used an END bag as a base for these collages, I love the printed white letters and wanted to incorporate them in small collages so they could feature prominently. I use mostly found and salvaged paper, scavenging is an important part of the process.

Alex Jorgensen Untitled/ SP1.01, 2021 Oil on Paper Signed on verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) (b. 1967, London, UK) Alex Jorgensen studied at Bath Academy of Art and Brighton Polytechnic, where he received the Annabel Birtles Award. His interest lies in quiet exploration of form, composition and construction of works that give weight to small things. He had a workshop near Bath in the '90s, where he made small oil paintings and curated several exhibitions of work by important British potters, before a move to London and starting a family with his late wife Amanda (nee Lewis). Recent years have seen a return to oil paint and a move to Buckinghamshire. "I am something of a contemplative and see my work closer, perhaps, to prayer or song than art. A distillation of things - using a few simple materials. It is slow work. Circular and constructive in nature. A lifelong interest".
