Roger Casement handwritten postcard to a colleague in the Colonial Service in the Niger Coast, 1893. Sent from Old Calabar River in the British Protectorate of Oil Rivers: a scarce overprinted postal stationery one penny card to H. Harrison, Warri, dated 6 January, wishing him "and Chambers" a Happy New Year, and mentioning the purchase of shoes in "Gaboon" on Harrison's account. A rare early manuscript from Casement, aged 28. In 1892 to 1895 Casement was a British customs official in the Niger Coast.
1904 (April) postcard from Captain Robert Falcon Scott, Antarctica to Ireland. Wrench's picture postcard for the 1901-04 British Antarctic Expedition, addressed in Scott's hand to a Mrs Wrench in Ballybrack, Co. Dublin (possibly a relation of the publisher of the card). Wrench's issued four postcards to be posted at different stages of the expedition to subscribers who helped finance the venture. This example was posted at Christchurch, New Zealand on the return journey. The illustration on the card erroneously shows a polar bear which is native to the Arctic only.

Opera Interest, a quantity of memorabilia relating to Rosa Ponselle, including signed photographs, a signed manuscript book of her biography by James Drake, unsigned postcard of Ponselle, a programme from the Baltimore concert 'a salute to Rosa Ponselle' etc.Note: The American soprano was born in 1897 and performed regularly at the New York Metropolitan Opera. She also appeared in productions at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden before retiring from the stage in 1937. Numerous recordings of her performances were produced and she is widely acknowledged as one of the great opera stars of the 20th century.
