Walter Raleigh El Dorado! Brevis & admiranda descriptio regni Guianae .. in America, seu novo orbe .. quod nuper admodum, annis nimirum 1564 (sic), 1595 & 1596 .. detectum est. Empire of Guiana (London 1596). - KOLLATION: 2 Bll., 12 S., 1 Bl. LITERATUR: Sabin 67546. - Palau 246453. - Church 281. - Alden/L. 599/68. - John Carter Brown Libr. I, 457. First separate Latin edition of the famous account of Raleigh's search for the legendary 'El Dorado', at the same time first illustrated edition. With engr. title vignette, 6 engr. plates (right margins folded) and 1 engr. folding map, all by Jodocus Hondius. Vellum binding with use of old material, with ms. title on spine. - Text with stain to side margins, causing small defects to last text leaf, plates trimmed in the right margin, 1 plate with small marginal tears, folding map with longer but clean split to fold. Binding with restorations to corners. Dieses Objekt wird regelbesteuert angeboten (R).
