Alan Cotton (British, b.1936), Topsham Sunset, oil on canvas, bears artists label verso, titled in pencil on the stretcher and dated VIII 63, 61cm x 76.5cm, framed. Note: The picture is indistinctly signed, however Alan Cotton sent the following email as provenance “It does seem to be one of my paintings, but I can scarcely remember it. It was done not long after I ceased to be a student, in the sixties. The address (on the artists label) is the cottage we had when we were first married. My faint signature, in biro I would guess, seems to be mine. The painting must have been brought down to Devon when we moved as it has the Colaton Raleigh address on my very early business card. Hope this all helps.”
