RICHARDS, LONDON, no visible serial number, in a later case, the revolver circa 1840, with fully fluted six-shot 3 1/2in. barrel cluster, the flutes carved in imitation of side-ribs, each chamber numbered '1' through '6' respectively and with Birmingham proofs, moulded and rounded iron border and scroll engraved receiver with central bar hammer, the left side of action signed 'W. RICHARDS, LONDON', the right 'IMPROVED REVOLVING PISTOL', finely chequered walnut grip swelling at the iron mounted pommel with central engraved trap (containing spare nipples) and with guarded trigger, the iron surfaces darkly stained, complete with a brass bound walnut case adapted for this pistol with a compartmented and blue baize lined interior and a number of added accessories.

COLT LONDON', London proofs, open iron frame with slight traces of colour, plain cylinder scrubbed of scene and with Indian inventory marks, dome-headed London screws, iron grip-straps, chequered walnut one-piece grip and under-barrel rammer with traces of colour, all matching numbers (blued finish lost); together with a period American casing lined and compartmented in blue baize accommodating the revolver, an original James Dixon flask, cleaning rod, Colt style brass mould marked 'W.D.' (William Davis) and numbered '88' (sprue cutter replaced), 'L' shaped nipple-key, cap-tin, breech-brush and oil-bottle, all probably period to this revolver, reproduction parchment instruction label inside lid.

AN UNUSUAL CASED .450 ADAMS PATENT MODEL 1872 REVOLVER, serial no. 2889, mid 1870's, with blued octagonal 3 7/8in. barrel apparently shortened by the maker, the top-flat re-signed 'ADAM'S PATENT SMALL ARMS Co. 391 STRAND.', a ghost of the original signature visible, dove-tailed block and blade fore-sight, sighting notch to rear of top-strap, multiple piece frame signed 'ADAMS PATENT' and with Adams's trademark, top-hinged load-gate, plunge ejector and chequered walnut grip with eyelet for lanyard ring at heel, strong amount of apparently original blued finish remaining and complete with an oak storage case blocked for this barrel length, lined and compartmented in green baize, original Adam's instruction label for this model pasted inside lid and containing an oil bottle, cleaning rod, lid only from a patch tin and a number of spent cases.
