General Matthew Ridgway signed commemorative cover. General Matthew Bunker Ridgway (3 March 1895 - 26 July 1993) was a senior officer in the United States Army, who served as Supreme Allied Commander Europe (1952-1953) and the 19th Chief of Staff of the United States Army (1953-1955). Although he saw no combat service in World War I, he was intensively involved in World War II, where he was the first Commanding General (CG) of the 82nd Airborne Division, leading it in action in Sicily, Italy and Normandy, before taking command of the newly formed XVIII Airborne Corps in August 1944. He held the latter post until the end of the war in mid-1945, commanding the corps in the Battle of the Bulge, Operation Varsity and the Western Allied invasion of Germany. Good condition. Attributed to John Ridgway  Three matching English porcelain sauce tureens and covers, c. 1830-40, painted with floral sprigs within elaborate gilt borders, further pink and gilt floral reserves, on claret ground, pattern no. 1917 to the underside, approximately 12cm high and 21cm wide.  (3)CONDITION REPORT: No spoons present, just tureens. There is a hairline crack to one cover and a minor chip to the same cover.  Good colour and detail to the decoration and ground.  Some old dirt/stains to areas with further minor crazing.  The gilt is generally good.

Bone China Dinnerware Set with Mazarin Blue and Gilt Design, John and William Ridgway, Cauldon Place and Bell Works, Shelton, Hanley, Staffordshire, circa 1825 - Pattern 964This refined bone china dinnerware set presents a stunning Mazarin blue and gilt motif, perfect for any discerning collector or dining connoisseur. The set comprises elegantly crafted pieces, including a series of ornate tureens and eight dessert plates. Each piece is unified by a broad Mazarin blue and gilt border, adorned with intricate C-scroll reserves in buff and gilt. At the centre lies a white tablet featuring a hand-painted floral arrangement in vibrant colours, providing a beautiful contrast to the rich border. The tureens are distinguished by their raised feet and elaborate side patterns, amplifying their decorative appeal. The cover has a shallow split to the rim approx 1cm which would have been created in the making (see image).Hexagonal plate: overall condition good, some rubbing to the gilt on corners.Sucrier: a few firing imperfections as splits at the rim and one thumbnail size internally (see image).Blue serving dish, scalloped birds plate, and all other plates not mentioned above: in good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration, possibly some very light scratches.
