The bore has a very similar rifling pattern to Henry rifling and it is reasonably strong in form, there are some very light scattered pitting spots throughout the bore which would not stop it being used but it it will never be a mint bore. The crown is in good order. The action works with a strong positive sounding mainspring and lock up. The metal finish is good with some scruffs, light scratches, and minor wear. The stock is free from splits or repairs. The forend has a spliced in repair to the edge where it meets the barrel. Some screw heads are chewed from being worked. The foresight has been adapted with some crude filing and rebluing, the scope rail shows signs of adaption and is probably not totally original. The scope presents a useable picture but is very slightly cloudy. The lenses look free from damage but there is some light fogging that can be seen behind the glass. The scope shows signs of being taken apart and reassembled.

The mainspring is either a replacement still needing fettling or the original that has not been fitted back into place correctly. Either way, it currently does not fit and will not allow the action to operate or the top tang (which has been drilled for a rear sight fitting) to be screwed home. The barrel has lost its original rear sight and has been retrofitted with scope mounts. The front sight is slightly loose. The bore has some pitting marks scattered throughout but still has plenty of usable reasonably crisp rifling left. The metal finish has worn with only tiny traces of original bluing left. There is the odd dent and scratch mark to the metal and a very small area of the breech area of the barrel that has a small vice jaw mark. The stock appears in good form with dents and marks but no splits or repairs.

The bore has lots of very light peppering or speckling, there is also the odd pitting spot, outside of this it has very strong defined looking rifling. The exterior metalwork has some overall speckling where the colour case harden has faded, there is some speckled pitting marks dotted around. The action works positively and correctly. The breech block carries a different serial number to rifle. The stock has some dents and marks but no splits or repairs.

UK FIREARMS LICENCE WITH .222 VARIATION OR RFD REQUIRED. 107cm long The rifle is not in good condition. The bore has several corrosion patches including a ring of corrosion around the mid point of the barre. The crown has some light corrosion on the face of the muzzle. The action works but the safety catch does not operate. There is a primer ring to the bolt face and there is also some light corrosion spots dotted around the bolt as well as to the rest of the action and surrounding metalwork. The stock is free from splits or repairs. There are some dents, marks and scratches. The scope has some speckled marks to the coatings of these lenses, but there are no obvious scratches. It appears to adjust correctly and presents a reasonably clear picture.
