THE COLOSSUS OF NEW YORKThree Sheet (41" x 78")Fine- Folded Paramount, 1958 Offered here is the appropriately colossal three sheet for this picture, spotlighting the Colossus and his deadly death ray. The one sheet for this title is a favorite among science fiction collectors, and the three sheet, due to its size, is an even better representation of the film. This spectacular large format is a perfect restoration candidate. It has edge and fold wear and some separation. There is moisture staining within the lower credits and on both the left and right sides. The film is about a brilliant scientist, humanitarian, and Peace Prize winner named Jeremy Spensser (played by Ross Martin) who dies in a traffic accident. His father, William (played by Otto Kruger), works against time to transplant his son's brain into a giant robot that he designs and builds. The movie stands out from other 1950s science fiction films due to its high production values, a well-thought-out storyline, and a thrilling screenplay. This lot will be auctioned on Friday, December 8th. THE PHANTOM CREEPSCGC Graded Lobby Card (11" x 14")Fine+ Universal, 1939The Chapter 9 title card offered here presents an image of a bearded Lugosi, along with two shots of his infamous robot, clearly scowling at his master's enemies on the opposite side of the card. This lobby card has been CGC graded at 6.5, which is Fine+. After his breakout role in Dracula (1931), it looked like fame and fortune were assured for star Bela Lugosi. But sadly, that was not to be the case. Among his projects at the time were several serials, beginning with The Whispering Shadow in 1933 and ending with The Phantom Creeps in 1939, which reunited Lugosi with his Dracula co-star, Edward Van Sloan. Like many serials, this one uses some stock footage from previous pictures. This lot will be auctioned on Friday, December 8th. The auction will begin at 9:30am PST and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Note other lots in the auction may close on December 7th.
