A jewelled silver Judaica box of rectangular form, on a larger base decorated with lions, raised on four feet, with removable lid surmounted by crown decoration, the box with applied Star of David to the front and turquoise beads to the side, with Russian marks to the underside. Diameter 8cm / 3.1". Weight 114g.
An 18th century Iberian pendant cross set with rock crystals together with four later Russian pendant crosses, the first of pierced filigree design with the five principal rock crystals closed back set in raised bosses, with a central round cut stone and larger round cut stones for the three upper arms of the cross, the lower one formed by a suspended pear cut stone, highlighted throughout with small round cut white stones possibly pastes, white metal assumed silver, oval mark of a swan struck twice on suspensory loop, length 9.1cm; all the Russian crosses of pierced and embossed form with orthodox crosses and cyrillic letters, the largest set with a red paste and four freshwater pearls, three of them with partial gilt finish, two with remnants of matt green enamel, all with engraved decoration on the backs and fixed suspensory loops, lengths 5.5 - 8.2cm (5) The Russian Orthodox cross has three cross bars - a short upper one upon which rests the cyrillic form of the label INRI (Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaerum - Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews), and a lower one representing the footrest, usually angled possibly to suggest the forthcoming ascent to heaven. The cyrillic letters on either end of the principal crossbar represent IC XC, the Greek abbreviation for Jesus Christ, and at his feet NIKA meaning 'conquers'.
A pair of Russian cast candlesticks, maker's mark rubbed, assayed by Nikolay Dubrovin, Moscow 1832, to standard 84 zolonitki (875/1000 parts pure silver) dodecagonal base each engraved with a personal message, with foliate decorated hexagonal columns rising from applied acanthus leaves and topped with swag and foliate decoration, the removable sconces decorated to match the base. 27.9ozt gross (2) 22cm (9in)
