Ausländische Orden & Ehrenzeichen - Königreich beider Sizilien : Orden des Heiligen Ferdinand und des Verdienstes - Bruststern zum Großkreuz.Silber, das Medaillon und die in plastischer Goldschmiedearbeit aufgelegte Heiligenfigur und der Schriftreif Gold und Emaille.Der gesamte Sternkörper und die Fleur de Lys mit geschliffenen Markasit - Steinen besetzt. Auf der Rückseite geschwungene Doppelnadel. Weitere Bruststerne königlich sizilianischer Orden von ähnlicher Qualität aus dem Besitz der Könige beider Sizilien befinden sich in der Sammlung Dr. Spada und sind im Museum der Ehrenlegion in Paris ausgestellt. Die Herstellung von mit markasitbesetzten Ordenssternen war eine Mode, die vor allem in Neapel im ausgehenden 18. Jahrhundert anzutreffen ist. Diese Ordensinsignien wurden fastausschließlich im Auftrag der Könige und Prinzen des Hauses Bourbon - Sizilien angefertigt. Die Vorliebe für diese überaus prächtigen Ordensinsignien scheint sich bis in die Napoleonische Zeit gehalten zu haben. So ist ein Großkreuzsatz des Königlichen Ordens Beider Sizilien aus dem Besitz Joachim Murats bekannt, der in dieser Technik ausgeführt ist. Ebenso wurden für Murat verschiedene Ehrensäbel mit Markasitbesatz hergestellt. Die Könige Beider Sizilien ließen eine Garnitur ihrer sämtlichen Ordenssterne in dieser Art anfertigen. Diese, dem hier angebotenen Stück sehr ähnliche Exemplare aus dem sizilianischen Königshaus befinden sich in der Sammlung Dott. Antonio Spada und sind in dem Ausstellungskatalog des Pariser Musée National de la Légion d'Honneur et des Ordres de Chévalerie (Hrsg.) : Honneur & Gloire - Les Trésors de la Collection Spada, S. 134 ff abgebildet und beschrieben.. In enger Verwandtschaft mit diesen Ordenssternen stehen die aus geschliffenem Stahl hergestellten Bruststerne des späten 18. Jahrhunderts. Mir sind russische, englische und deutsche Ordenssterne bekannt, die in dieser Technik angefertigt wurden. Die Modeerscheinung des geschliffenen Stahlschmucks war im späten 18. Jahrhundert ein in ganz Europa weit verbreitetes Phänomen. Die prächtigen in dieser Art hergestellten Ordensinsignien gehören zu den kunsthandwerklich schönsten und goldschmiedetechnisch hochwertigsten Erzeugnissen, die jemals im Bereich der Orden und Auszeichnungen geschaffen wurden. The other breast stars from the royal Sicilian family and from the estate of the Kings of the Two Sicilies reflect the same design and quality. They are to be found in the collection of Dr. Spada and are exhibited in the Museum of the Legion of Honour in Paris. The production of breast stars studded with marcasite was a fashion, which is to be found especially in Naples at the end of the 18th century. The floral decorative elements between the arms of the cross are especially finely chiselled. On the original ribbon.This type was mainly awarded in the 18th century but also during the great patriotic war of 1812.Especially the 2nd and 3rd class are rarer in this early version than the 1st class of the order.A splendid example of the finest old Russian goldsmith's work. An Imperial Russian silver and enamel spoon. Work master HA, 88 zolotnik mark, length 13cm, 18g. Slightly wonky on the stem on the thinnest section where it meets the bowl. Enamelling on the stem is missing, mostly the navy blue enamel. On the bowl, where it meets the stem, there is a section of white enamel missing on a 'dot' and two dots either side have cracks. Enamel on some leaf petals on the bowl damaged.

A Russian silver and cloisonné / champleve enamel snuff box, indistinct 84 standard mark, rectangular form with rounded corners, the hinged cover and base with stylised flowers and foliate scrolls in red, mauve, apple-green and three shades of blue, the centre oval with turquoise ground, the edges with repeating floral design on rich blue ground, 3¼in. (8.3cm.) long, weight 3.5 tr.oz. * Condition: Good condition, no enamel loss found, strong hinge, rubbed marks.

A Russian silver niello work snuff box, Moscow 1853, assay master probably Ivan Vasilyevish Avdeyev, 84 standard mark, rectangular with foliate decoration, gilt interior, 3½in. (8.9cm.) long, weight 3.45 tr.oz. * Condition: Small ding with tiny gouge to silver to base and tiny ding to front edge of base. Small abrasion to surface of silver to corner of lid. Some scratches to the exterior as would be expected. Lid closes tightly.

An amethyst set panel bracelet, designed as a line of articulated cushion-shaped amethyst and white stone cluster links, enclosing a similarly set flowerhead cluster panel, white metal mounted, with Russian 84 standard silver mark and maker's mark, (additional loose link, one white stone deficient), length 16.5cmOne link is loose and the bracelet is detached to one side of the central flowerhead, where a rivet is missing. The bracelet has areas of solder repair and tarnishing, with signs of general wear throughout, patchy thinning to the edges of the links and thinning/splits to the edges of some of the settings. The amethysts contain fracture, fissure and 'tiger's stripe' inclusions, with areas of whiteish colour zoning and scattered small chips/nicks and scuffs to the surface. The largest amethyst measures approximately 8.5mm length x 8mm width. The white stones are too small to test and some stones have larger chips, fractures and scuffs. The white stones graduate from approximately 3.5mm to 1.5mm in diameter. Metal standard is untested but presumed to be silver. The clasp is currently functioning. Marks are clearly struck. Gross weight approximately 29.5gm.

One to the right sides near catch the other near the hinge. Case closes with a click. Gilt is bright and not rubbed.

The twelve place setting with St. Petersburg and 84 standard marks comprising 12 knifes, 12 forks and 12 spoons in later fitted case. 70 ozs all atNichols and Plincke Biography:In the mid-19th century, there existed a relatively large community of English gold- and silversmiths. Two such figures were Charles Nicholls and William Plincke, who together acquired a silver business from John Pickersgill in 1815 and rebranded it first as William Plincke’s English Shop and later, in 1829, under both their names as Nicholls & Plincke. Having already been granted Russian citizenship in 1804, the pair gained further hereditary honorary citizenship forty years later.Early on, Nicholls & Plincke received the royal warrant and a considerable number of imperial commissions, including many Christmas presents from Nicholas I to his family and the silver portion of his daughters’ dowries. In 1852, the Imperial Court requested the creation of an impressive forty coffee services (A. von Solodkoff, Russian Gold and Silver, Trefoil Books, 1981, p. 200). They also co-produced the malachite fireplace in the Winter Palace. Though the firm’s success stemmed from its sourcing of silver in England, it also had a reputation for fine enamel work. Notable workmasters include Samuel Arnd, J. Henrikson and A. Tobinov.Unfortunately, Nicholls & Plincke was unable to withstand the pressure from their ferocious competitor, Fabergé, whose vast workforce could churn out production at a monumentally fast rate. The company fell into decline after suffering severe financial losses and was forced to close in 1880.
